Sub-pages
[edit]Hi. What is the purpose of the sub-pages that you have created? From what I can see there are all off-topic material for this wiki. -- Tegel (Talk) 18:54, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- They aren't off-topic for this wiki as they relate to missing articles primarily on en Wikipedia but also globally, so are clearly relevant to this wiki. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:14, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
My cross out
[edit]I crossed out my initial goal statement at Grants:IdeaLab/Maintenance_tags_follow-up, not because I changed my mind, but because someone made a comment that made me realize there were other options. I replaced it with a more general concept about finding a process — that process might include notifying the original editor who leaves a template or it might include other things or both. I just wanted to clarify that I wasn’t backing off my original idea.--Sphilbrick (talk) 19:18, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
- I was just giving my opinion on that as well as what you were currently proposing. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:32, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your participation in IdeaLab during the Inspire Campaign focused on improving content curation & review processes from February to March 2016. I'm interested in hearing your feedback about your participation during campaign, so if you're able, I invite you to complete this brief survey to describe how you contributed to the campaign and how you felt about participating.
Immediate results of the campaign can be found here. Please feel free to review them and let me know if you have any questions about the campaign or the survey. Thanks! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 02:31, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
Re:ask for advice on Commons
[edit]Responding here given the comment on Commons: I think if you'd not done this whole "block me" thing you'd have stood a good chance of being successful removing all your restrictions in 2025. I think actually this could have probably have happened in 2024 - that was the feedback you'd gotten. I think you can get your block reversed with a credible assurance that if you wanted to be blocked in the future you would request a block rather than disrupting to get blocked. What that means for removing your restriction I don't know - I have no idea how this current arbcom will feel about you after those events. But getting the block removed is the right first step regardless. Barkeep49 (talk) 17:39, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: The thing is that in 2024 I followed all the staps that were asked of me in the 2023 appeal, yes I understand the appeal text etc may not have been great but given my 2024 appeal was met with unanimous opposition I'd kind of given up after that so what I don't understand is what we think would likely have been different in 2025 to 2024 and why 2 people appeared to want to remove the restrictions even though no one had actually supported doing so (though the 2023 appeal had said to request this). As far as getting unblocked is concerned apart from maybe my talk page I don't feel I yet want to be unblocked I just feel I've had enough of trying to do the right thing and following my restrictions and doing what is asked and getting almost nowhere. I might think about getting unblocked in the next few weeks but I don't think I'm ready yet, thanks for you're advice. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:07, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- That's all fair. I think one thing that has been lacking is a sense that you have "heard" the feedback the arbs (and some community members) have given. If you can demonstrate that I think you will find the experience a better one all around. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:23, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: Yes I agree my appeal would benefit from the feedback from others but I think it did include some already. One of the biggist points I think is that my talk page doesn't contain indications of problems, compare that to w:User talk:DragonofBatley who was recently put under restrictions and ended up getting blocked, their talk page has lots of things do do with deletion notifications and things like careless editing. If my restrictions were lifted and my talk page became full of deletion notifications etc that would be an indication that the restrictions are necessary. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:34, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: What are you're thoughts now? Regarding the events on December/January what I don't really understand if why if arbcom didn't want to lift my restrictions they didn't just accept my site ban request in December which was a polite and civil request without any threats where the threats only started after people started saying no. I just think by the end of 2024 (when I would have been under restrictions longer than before I was indefinitely blocked in January 2011) that I had made more than enough attempts to get the restrctions removed so come January 2025 I didn't bother to put forward a good reason like I had attempted to do for the numerous previous appeals. How would you feel if you were in my shoes and had despite numerous attempts and success with article creation and almost no concerns about my contributions you were repeatedly declined appeals. People in real life have said that I have the patience of a saint but it is too much even for me. Also CaptainEek who had mentioned about lifting the restrictions in the 2025 request (along with Elli) as well as opposing the community ban you asked about again saying they would have lifted the restrictions if I had put forward a good request. CaptainEek has participated in several of my requests, the earliest in 2021 so I don't understand why they haven't previously suggested this but only after I made a "suicide by ardcom" request. Crouch, Swale (talk) 15:23, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: Do you think it would be sensible now to look at reversing my block as you said in February? Do you think it is worth doing though? I feel I have wasted a lot of community time over the years and the community have also wasted a lot of my time over the years. As was said about BHG in 2023 "She needs time away from this project and this project needs time away from her", I've had nearly 7 months away from the English Wikipedia (which is more than standard offer) so do you feel that as long as I give an assurance that I won't make threats of harassment and instead just request a block that it would be appropriate to have another go? I think if arbcom and the community didn't think it was worth their time or my time for me to continue on Wikipedia they would have just accepted my site ban request. Crouch, Swale (talk) 13:32, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- I think there's a chance. It will all depend on the quality of your appeal. Barkeep49 (talk) 14:36, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: It is possible then to ask the blocking admin about an unblock? Given it was a "normal admin action" rather than an AE block and the community consensus was not to ban me. Crouch, Swale (talk) 14:46, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- You can do that through the normal process. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 14:48, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: thanks, I'll look at that tomorrow. Crouch, Swale (talk) 14:50, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: the appeal has been filed, sorry it took longer than I said. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:03, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
