Copy/paste archived this user talk page

[edit]

Hi Deryck, just to let you know I undid your move archiving of this talk page and fixed it to do a copy/paste archive. This means that the full edit history is maintained on this page which is easier for yourself and other users to look at the page history. Please see w:Help:Archiving a talk page for an explanation of this procedure, the previous moving procedure is explained at w:Help:Archiving a talk page/Other procedures, but it's generally not used much any more as it breaks page histories. Hope you don't mind! Thehelpfulone 18:31, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Letter of Support ISOC Asia HK Wikimania.pdf. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at this page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Stefan2 (talk) 15:17, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

We could greatly use your help doing some quick translations for the SecurePoll (voting) interface that will be used for this years Board and FDC elections. The translation consists of a short, 2 sentence, intro for the vote and 3 short 'titles' saying which vote or question they will be on. The page also lists the candidates for each election which do not need to be translated but can be transliterated if that makes sense for your language/script. Thank you! If you have any questions please feel free to ask on the Elections talk page.

Superprotect status

[edit]

Dear Deryck Chan, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.

Peteforsyth 09:11, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oh, certainly not an order!

[edit]

Sorry for not making it more obvious: it is always totally OK to say "no" to any request I may issue. I just tried a last minute appeal - it could have been translated after publication, as communities usually do :) Again, no intention to put a heavy burden on your shoulders. Interface can be translated here, generally speaking, but for the announcement itself, just leave the variables, like {{int:prefs-editing}}, so that the messages will show up in any language the user has set for him/herself on that wiki. Are you coming to Wikimania? Best, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 15:30, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Elitre (WMF): Thanks, and yes I will be going to Wikimania. Deryck C. 15:51, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, and so happy to see you again in just a month. I'll be there as a volunteer. Best, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 15:51, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Elitre (WMF): You'll be there... as a volunteer? The translation is done. Deryck C. 16:18, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'm not going as WMF staff or with a scholarship. I'll be there just as an Italian Wikipedian, and I'll probably be asked to be part of the volunteers group (the ones who help with the logistics of the event, I think). Thank you so much for your help: hugely appreciated! --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 16:23, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikimania 2016: IdeaLab Workshops

[edit]

Wikimania 2016 is almost here! Mjohnson (WMF) and I are running two workshops for IdeaLab during the conference, and you are invited to join us for either (or both!)

If you have a proposal or idea you are thinking about, and would like a space to work on it on your own or with others, please consider joining us for either the Thursday or Saturday sessions. We'll discuss a little about IdeaLab and how it works, and the rest of the time is space for idea building. You can also use this session to ask questions about Wikimedia Foundation grants that are available if your proposal or idea may need funding. Thanks, and see you at the conference! @Jusjih: You may wish to nominate these two files for deletion directly per the 2015 discussion which rejected the proposed Meta:Exemption doctrine policy (EDP) that would've allowed these files to be grandfathered in. Since I was a strong proponent of the EDP and objected to the 2015 decision, I will not personally endorse any action of deletion on the basis of it, but would like to let you know that current policy would allow these files to be nominated for deletion. Re: Postcard

[edit]

--Spring Roll Conan ( Teahouse | Contributions ) 10:02, 27 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
