Input[edit]

Your input would be appreciated on closing this. Please see the talk page. Thanks, Majorly (talk) 00:28, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you comment here please, at least on Dmcdevit. I know you like things slow, but it shouldn't be taking this long. Majorly (talk) 14:10, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't realise the page had been created, thanks for starting the ball rolling. I've commented. ++Lar: t/c 16:42, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lar,

Could you possibly close this now?if it's a yes that is!

I'm going to be inactive for about a week in a few days time, so would like to be able to report this to the wiki, aswell as add some IW links!

Thanks,

BG7 18:07, 3 February 2008 (UTC)(Note:I'm actually logged in now, as i'm at home!)[reply]

I'll try to get to it this weekend now that the question I had is sorted. ++Lar: t/c 18:56, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers Lar, (although that will actually be too late, unless you mean today?!?!).
BG7 19:49, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. or tomorrow at the latest. :) ++Lar: t/c 19:52, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers Lar - mind dropping me a line when it's done?
BG7 22:06, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If I remember. But the changes only get pushed out to the rest of the world once in a great while so no worries.
Alrighty, thanks a lot! There should be some IW links VERY soon... I have several possible candidates! Would an alright link be from a fleet list on WP to the exact article on TSW?
BG7 11:08, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like a reasonable link usage. The link has been added to interwiki, ++Lar: t/c 12:54, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers Lar!
BG7 13:39, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lar, I added it on my User page, along with a WP link, but they don't work... HELP!!! BG7 16:29, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They aren't going to work until the interwiki map db is updated and pushed out to the wikis. This happens somewhere between once a month and once a quarter. A dev has to do it. ++Lar: t/c 16:41, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok, that makes sense! I may aswell still add them though! When was the last time that it was updated? To give me a time idea?
Thanks,
BG7 16:49, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
September? Ask a dev... ++Lar: t/c 16:50, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. If that's the case then hopefully soon!
BG7 19:03, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changed usage for {{closed}}[edit]

Hello Lar. At some point you used {{closed}} with the "text" parameter (ie, {{closed|text=Rogue deletion omg. ~~~~}}). This will no longer work correctly in the future, because the "text" parameter will contain the entire discussion (to wrap it in a coloured box). Instead, please use {{closed|Summary}} or {{closed|1=Summary}} (for complex summaries). Thanks. —{admin} Pathoschild 00:15:00, 05 February 2008 (UTC)

I did? I'll try not to do that again. Thanks! ++Lar: t/c 00:24, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interwiki list[edit]

I emailed the Wikitech-I list and requested a regeneration. If you felt like answering [1] I'd appreciate it even if you only point me to where the rules are already. Otherwise Schools: for http://schools-wikipedia.org would be pretty cool. --AndrewCates 15:00, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please make this as a normal request in the normal section of the page, for tracking purposes, but it seems very reasonable to me. ++Lar: t/c 15:41, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done this and got the right person to fix the technical issue. Thanks for the help, --AndrewCates 20:41, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English Wikipedia[edit]

Hi, a new contributor, well, not to wikis, but yes, to Wikimedia projects... I'd actually been using MediaWiki on my own computer for sometime - and now I got a new site with it too!

I won't post the link here in case it's seen as spamming but... well, hope everything's OK!

I have edited Wikipedia before, but very infrequently as it were. --Whitsun 20:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia referred to above is the English one. --Whitsun 20:54, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you Solumieras/SunStar Net ??? Please answer carefully. ++Lar: t/c 12:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not trying to accomplish anything. --Whitsun 20:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cough cough[edit]

So this business about Meta not being that sleepy and the interwiki list being updated every week or two?.. don't worry I am only teasing and expect to be sent to the back of the queue :) --AndrewCates 21:01, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would however appreciate it if you could do the schoolswp interwiki now. It has had a good couple of weeks and a people editing around it without any problems and it doesn't seem contraversial. The problem with database updates only every few months is that you start feeling you'll miss a bus and have to wait forever for the next one and if we can get it working sometime in March it would make it easier for people discussing the 2008 update (which has started on the project pages and finishes end April). --AndrewCates 07:52, 27 February 2008 (UTC) (aka en:user:BozMo)[reply]
I plan to do a pass hopefully as early as today but if you're really worried, you could ping another admin. I agree that now that the issues are sorted, should be no big deal. ++Lar: t/c 09:50, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --AndrewCates 09:59, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're in there now. :) ++Lar: t/c 10:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your message[edit]

Thank you for the message. I'm not actually a sockpuppet of that user, but yes, I do share an IP address with them - I am open enough to admit that. However, they are indeed an individual I know in real life. However, he's not that much into using Wikimedia projects any more, AFAIK. Anyway, I have no malicious intentions, this is the only account that I edit with, both here and on mediawiki.org (not counting my anon IP edits there). --Whitsun 16:50, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I believe you. When I first asked you about it you claimed not to know who these other users are, but now you admit you know who one of the users is, after all. There is a pattern of deny, be confronted, admit, retreat a bit, deny again, that is not really very productive. I ran some checks and it's pretty clear to me that there is a very high likelihood that all of the users on this IP are the same person. On other wikis, we (I and other CUs) see a clear pattern of good hand/bad hand abuse. Totting up the time we've all spent, we get an alarmingly high amount of time wasted on this. So really, we need you to restrict yourself to one account here. Pick any one you like but it's too confusing to have you editing under multiple accounts. Alternatively, they could all be blocked. ++Lar: t/c 17:58, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • You may as well block WiganRunnerEu and Solumeiras. Apologies for the time that he wasted. I am only using this account, and no other. I am telling the truth. I apologise for his misuse of other wikis. Anyway, if the individual who edited as Solumeiras/WiganRunnerEu wanted to edit any other Wikimedia project again, how could he come back legitimately?? --Whitsun 19:58, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I am a separate individual to WiganRunnerEu/Solumeiras. I don't want to edit under multiple accounts anyway. --Whitsun 20:00, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Message[edit]

Although I know the user you assumed I was a "sock" of, I am not him. I have a different agenda to him anyway. This is posted for confirmation. AFAIK he is not interested in using Wikimedia projects any more... --Whitsun 23:20, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Message received. ++Lar: t/c 00:44, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please can you add SunStar Net to the username blacklist for me, and also on Commons too. Thanks, AP aka --Whitsun 16:51, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another matrix template[edit]

Thought you might find this helpful: I created User:EVula/matrix/line-ext so I could add wikis to my matrix that don't exist in the interwiki map. Dunno if it would supersede User:Lar/WikiMatrixHardCodedWiki for you, but you're welcome to poke through it to see if there's anything you'd find useful. Thoughts[edit]

Your thoughts would be highly appreciated here. Thanks, Majorly (talk) 13:37, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for usurpation[edit]

Hello Lar. Your request for user name usurpation has been archived (see discussion). —{admin} Pathoschild 01:54:51, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

I hope you have a bot doing that... :) ++Lar: t/c 03:41, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, I'm using a simple subpage template when I archive messages. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 05:08:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

IRC[edit]

Can I bug you to join ##Monobi (or just get on freenode ^_^) ? Mønobi 03:43, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, not tonight, it's past my bedtime already. Perhaps another time. If it's confidential feel free to email me. ++Lar: t/c 04:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No idea if you can help with this one[edit]

But I need the meta account BozMo (which has no edits) deleted and then AndrewCates moved to BozMo so that it can be added to a unified login. Apparently I need someone with the right powers on meta to do this?

--AndrewCates 08:51, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I am the right sort of person to ask. This is what we call a "Usurp" rename request... but it's better to make the request in our central place for this. Make the request at Meta:Changing_username and note that it's a usurp and a 'crat will evaluate and act on it. Once it is usurped, request at Steward requests/Usurpation, to get the account unified. You will need to show that you control BozMo at some other wiki(s) in order to justify the usurpation... that's usually done via a crosslink. Hope that helps. ++Lar: t/c 10:50, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some good news[edit]

I've got a new IP address now, and I've made sure it's secure - the old one that you found sockpuppets on wasn't secured. However, I've since resecured my WLAN, so there shouldn't be any more problems now. Just me on this account only (checkuser it if you need to!). Thanks, AP aka --Kelsington 22:35, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

top ten wikipedias[edit]

Hi there. Since you comented on the discussion before, I would like to hear your opinion on this suggestion. Cheers, --Waldir 23:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I compiled a more detailed vote proposal, please state your opinion :) --Waldir 23:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
