I had no idea we had a welcome bot on meta :) Anyway, seriously, welcome from a real person... and feel free to ask me if you can't find anything. -- phoebe | talk 18:16, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

New releases announces[edit]

Hello Sumana, I see that after 1.21wmf2 no more announcements for new releases have been sent. I think this is actually good, because "spamming" all target pages every two weeks is a bit too much, especially as the information is not translated (and it can't be translated properly unless one adds just small links to translatable pages on mediawiki.org). Doing what you did for mw:MediaWiki 1.20/wmf1, mw:MediaWiki 1.19 and mw:MediaWiki 1.19/Deployment announcement is probably too much for bi-weeekly updates, something needs to be invented... --Nemo 23:33, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Nemo. Yeah, I only want to send big announcements regarding new releases when there's something *big* and *noteworthy* coming, and I'm very sensitive to the possibility of spamming and the English-only/translatability issue. I think a good balance might be to simply send notifications to the larger community only when there's something big coming. Do you think the larger community wants any notification every two weeks, for each cycle? Suggestions are welcome. Sharihareswara (WMF) (talk) 21:43, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

Please fill out our brief Participation Support Program survey[edit]

Hello, the Wikimedia Foundation would like your feedback on the Participation Support Program! We have created a brief survey to help us better understand your experience participating in the program and how we can improve for the future. You are being selected to participate in our survey because you submitted or commented on Participation Support requests in the past.

Click here to be taken to the survey site.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. We really appreciate your feedback! And we hope to see you in the Participation Support Program again soon.

Happy editing,

Help test better mass message delivery[edit]

Hi. You're being contacted as you've previously used global message delivery (or its English Wikipedia counterpart). It doesn't feel so great to be spammed, does it? ;-)

For the past few months, Legoktm has built a replacement to the current message delivery system called MassMessage. MassMessage uses a proper user interface form (no more editing a /Spam subpage), works faster (it can complete a large delivery in minutes), and no longer requires being on an access list (any local administrator can use it). In addition, many tiny annoyances with the old system have been addressed. It's a real improvement! :-)

You can test out MassMessage here: testwiki:Special:MassMessage. The biggest difference you'll likely notice is that any input list must use a new {{#target:}} parser function. For example, {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales}} or {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales|test2.wikipedia.org}}. For detailed instructions, check out mw:Help:Extension:MassMessage.

If you find any bugs, have suggestions for additional features, or have any other feedback, drop a note at m:Talk:MassMessage. Thanks for spamming! --MZMcBride (talk) 05:26, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
