Rename request
Hello, I was looking at this rename request and realised that you blocked the user on Arabic Wikipedia. They said that their current username is hard to remember. Hence, they requested to have their username changed to something they are familiar with. Could you please take a look at the rename request? Thanks! Jianhui67 talk★contribs 12:40, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Jianhui67:, our friend @PlyrStar93: changed the name, so I have unblocked it. Thanks for you. --Dr-Taher (talk) 05:13, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
The Affiliate-selected Board seats process welcomes your support
Hello. You are receiving this message because you are active in the field of translations <3 The movement needs you! The Nominations phase has started for the ongoing selection process of two Board members, and the timeline is quite tight.
A Translation Central is available to help translators figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome.
While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), you can also add others. If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :) Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 13:20, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
revision ID isn't populated
Hey Taher, I was recently checking renaming logs and in this request when clicking on reason it doesn't takes to request on arwiki. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 03:58, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @1997kB:, I don't know the reason for that error in the link. This user asked to change his username to a name with Arabic letters (this is the link [1]). Thanks. --Dr-Taher (talk) 04:05, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- Taher, I tried same on enwiki, looks like this happens when we click rename link in edit preview. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 04:55, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- إYes, this was the case. I clicked the rename link in edit preview. --Dr-Taher (talk) 04:59, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Renaming my Username
Hello Dr-Taher! I've just seen that you blocked me on the Arabic Wikipedia because of my username (The Living love), which the reason was, its not in conformity with the Username policy there. So I'm changing it and already sent a request to global renaming, and will also place an unblock request for the account there, but I have to delay it until the renaming process has finished in order to confirmed the eligibility of my new chosen username, and may be this could take more than 24hrs before it's done, Thanks. The Living love (talk) 13:24, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hello @Frankmuste, I have changed your username, and unblock your account. Thanks for you. --Dr-Taher (talk) 13:39, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- Can I ask why the word "The living love" is a forbidden username?--AldnonymousBicara? 13:52, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- @علاء: Can you help here? It seems they have valid contributions elsewhere and can be placed in the exempt category. A rename is the last resort in my opinion. Thanks much. :). --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:24, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

- Hello everyone, The user has been notified by an Editor for 7 days, this period is enough for any user to either negotiate the reason or ask to change his username. Unfortunately, He didn't comment on the notification for 7 days.
- He sent me this message after blocking his account on ArWiki. As soon as I read his message, I changed his username -as he asked for- and unblock his account.
- In genaral, We have a category for "Active Accounts on other Wikis" to avoid blocking them. If he commented on the notification on his talk-page, He could be added to that category and avoid blocking. --Dr-Taher (talk) 05:16, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the answer, but for users who didn't visit arwp regularly and have their crosswiki pings disabled, they will not know they are notified (for me I am one). I think it's a little inappropriate to block then accept a rename where adding the category will be sufficient. I will say when 7 days is up, can you just see the SUL of the user that they have lots of contributions elsewhere, and then place them in the category before blocking. This will be less abusive to the user. We try to minimize blocking as far as possible, that is what I am being told as a sysop to do. I still appreciate your answer and Best Regards,--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 06:21, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks @Camouflaged Mirage, I agree with your comment, but if you review his contributions on ArWiki, you will find that: He has been notified on 17 Feb., then he made 3 edits on 19 Feb and 21 Feb. Best Regards. --Dr-Taher (talk) 06:34, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, I get it now. But can you answer Aldnonymous question on why the username is inappropriate too. Thanks. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:47, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
