This page hosts requests for admin, bureaucrat, or CheckUser access to a Wikimedia wiki which does not have a local procedure. If your wiki has a bureaucrat, please use the requests for adminship page on that wiki instead. For urgent access (to combat ongoing large-scale vandalism), you may ask on the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel instead. For bot requests, see Requests for bot status. For spam whitelist/blacklist requests, see Talk:Spam blacklist.

Stewards: all requests presented here should be archived when fulfilled.

Boilerplate Request for Permissions

The text below is a template for requesting specific permissions on a wiki. Please copy it and complete the three required points, plus other salient information.

===== Project name =====

I request sysop access on ''ps.wikipedia'':

*'''Language Code:''' ps
*'''Local Request Link:''' [[ps:Project:wikipedia]]
*'''Local User Page:''' [[ps:User:waliachakzai]]

Thank you. ~~~~

Notes:

  1. Be sure to complete the information as requested. Without it, a steward cannot process the request.
  2. Please add the request here after the community approval.
  3. Be aware that local request page (RfA) may not be the same with the administrators page.

Current Requests

Please place your request at the end of the appropriate section below, and state in the heading which project you are referring to. All requests for permissions are subject to approval by the local community, and any unauthorised permissions will be revoked upon complaint.

Please remember to inform your community of your request. A steward will notify you when the request is processed.

Beware of sockpuppetters and imposters, always ask for a confirmation edit on the destination wiki.

Oversight rights

Note to Stewards: when someone ask a Oversight status, please check before giving this status. When you give someone Oversight, please list them on Hiding revisions. Thanks.

English Wikipedia

Please would the following individuals be granted Oversight status on the English Wikipedia:

Further, any and all Stewards are welcome to opt to take the priv. for their own accounts.

This request is by and on behalf of the Arbitration Committee.

CheckUser rights

To ask for a steward to answer one of your request, see Request for CheckUser information.

Note to Stewards: when someone ask a CheckUser status, please check the current policy of attribution of status before giving this status. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser. Thanks.

According to policy, there is no TEMPORARY status of checkuser. Either there are already checkuser on a project and these people must be asked to do the checkuser. Or there is nobody and a steward must do it. Giving a temporary status to anyone just simply asking it to a steward, with no agreement from the local community is against the checkuser status rules. Giving it with no request mentionned anywhere is even more problematic. Breaching these rules should imply removing the status of the steward if he can not be trusted to follow commonly accepted rules. If any one has a problem with this rule and wish that from now on, checkuser status be given to anyone without any community discussion, he must have the current rules changed, not breach them. Thanks Anthere 03:24, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Note: When giving someone checkuser, please (a) ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l and (b) email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list. (The list may contain confidential information.) - David Gerard 15:22, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any request made in a different paragraph than this one should not be considered.

Cool Cat

I'd like to request adminship for wikis with 1+ articles and 0+ articles. See List of Wikipedias for the list of wikis.

I do not know the languages but am willing to delete pages created for vandalism only which are generaly in english. It is fairly easy to manage a hand-full of pages (less than ten per wiki). I am user:Cool Cat on all of the wikis in question

Since no one is up to the task, I volunteer. Once any of the wikis cross the 10 article barrier and have an admin replacement, my adminship can be taken away.

--Cool CatTalk|@ 21:12, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, there's no precedent for this, but I have no problem with it ... if there are no objections within a few days, I'll set the necessary permissions. — Dan | talk 18:27, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dan, where would you like us to object? I object in the strongest possible terms, and will be happy to cite a long list of disruptive behavior, and quite a few failed RfAs, that demonstrate that Cool Cat is neither appropriate nor trusted to have adminiship on any project, much less on dozens of defenseless projects where he can harass and control the userbase at his pleasure. Absolutely not. Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:29, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, no, no, a thousand times no. Cool Cat has been under ArbCom sanctions on Wikipedia for over a year now (he was recently banned from a wide swath of articles by Tony Sidaway, his mentor/keeper) and has been ejected from the CVU discussion channels for misconduct. He has repeatedly failed RfA on enwiki. This person should not be trusted with any sort of authority or privilege anywhere within the Wikimedia sphere. Kelly Martin 11:35, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I reluctantly agree with Kelly on this. I should state first of all that, in my opinion, only an exceptional individual should be entrusted with the responsibility of admin access on a multitude of wikis of which he is ignorant of language and culture. In the past Cool Cat has had problems getting on with other editors, so I would say that, on these all-encompassing terms, I have to oppose the application. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 18:44, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lets see... People are not entrusting me a single page. Thats kinda fascinating. All I have to say to all of this is...wow. --Cool CatTalk|@ 19:35, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
These issues manage to have escaped my attention; the Cool Cat I remember is a dedicated vandal-hunter with a few minorly annoying obsessions. Never mind, then; thank you all very much for your comments. — Dan | talk 21:25, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Without commenting on Cool Cat's recent sanctions, his interest in vandal-hunting, and the presence or absence of others who can do a better job (I haven't checked recently, this may be an unnecessary request), is what seems most relevant for the projects in question; especially if this is understood as a temporary measure. Also, general comments not specific to Cool Cat : adminship should be no big deal... and not knowing the local language, and those projects having no active local userbase, might make 'harassing and controlling the userbase' more difficult. +sj | Translate the Quarto |+ 21:55, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We are going to make major overhaul on the wikisource Indonesia to support contents which cannot be hosted on id.wikipedia. I am a sysop on id.wikipedia and need sysop access to perform some tasks. Latin Wikibooks

I request sysop access on la.wikibooks:

I have not made many edits on the Wikibooks, however please look more at my edits on en:User:Dbmag9 and la:Usor:Dbmag9. To be honest the Latin Wikibooks is in a shambles, and I want to be able to fix it all up. This Administrator request is mainly because almost none of the MediaWiki messages are translated, and this needs urgent doing. Also, there are currently no users with any status on the project.

Thank you very much. -b:la:Usor:Dbmag9

Usually for localization work a temporary adminship is granted. How about two months for customizing the interface?
Should in the meantime a regular votation take place, the adminship can be made permanent. --Paginazero 08:25, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Limburgish Wiktionary

What coincidence! While Aliter requests sysop rights for the Frisian Wiktionary I would do the same for the Limburgic one. Btw Aliter you'll need Bugzilla to change the name spaces ;-). But just to get to the point: I'm the very first contributor apart from a few spammers and wikt:li:Gebroeker:Cicero who reverted all of it. I want to translate the MediaWiki's and stop spammers; that's what I need these sysop rights for. I've been a bureaucrat for the Limburgic Wikipedia for quite some time already. Simple English Wikipedia

I request bureaucrat access on simple.wikipedia for Archer7:

Our current bureaucrat is not fulfilling our needs. Thank you. Cromwellt|talk|contris 03:02, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    • I am the currently active bureaucrat on Simple Wikipedia. Cromwellt is a disruptive influence on that project. He says "not fulfilling our needs", but that is an unfounded statement. Adminship promotions are handled in a timely basis and without bias. No recent candidates (archive) have met with broad enough consensus to promote. Cromwellt's "nomination" here is out of place (it should be held on the project itself) and is a political move only. Encourage stewards to look into this, and remove this nomination out-of-hand. -- Netoholic @ 03:29, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate Netoholic's prompt response here. I can agree with Netoholic that promotions to admin rights are handled just fine, for those who have requested it. I didn't feel any more explanation was necessary, but since Netoholic is contesting the nomination, I will explain that the main way in which he is not fulfilling our needs is in that he is abusing his powers, but since it says below that all de-adminship, etc. discussions should take place on the project, I won't go into that here. I am somewhat curious how nominating someone (not myself) for bureaucratship is disruptive. Any stewards who wish to look into whether he is abusing his powers and/or whether I am a disruptive influence are more than welcome to do so. I have absolutely nothing to hide. A good place to start is on our version of the village pump, near the bottom, where an admin (Archer7) defends me and criticizes/condemns Netoholic, whom that admin has recently blocked for 24 hours. We are currently discussing a de-adminship and a de-bureaucratship of Netoholic there (he has also been directly invited to comment), and if it is carried, the results will appear in the proper section of this page. I believe that Netoholic is mistaken that this nomination should be on the project, since I do not believe that bureaucrats can promote other bureaucrats, and even if they can, this one is obviously against doing so. Oh, and all nominations are, by definition, political moves. And so are opposing votes. --Cromwellt|talk|contris 05:19, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi everyone! I wanted to make a request to become a bureaucrat on the bs.wikibooks. I've checked out if there is one there already and I've found that no user is a bureaucrat or sysop on that Wikibooks. I am a native speaker of that language (Bosnian). I'm requesting this permission because I've noticed that there are many problems on the main page, such as the navigation links that do not lead anywhere and the structure of that Wikibooks itself. I only have a few contributions on that Wikibooks for right now, however I hope that you will overlook that for right now and will grant me requested status based on my status and contributions on bs.wikipedia (I'm a sysop there). Thank you. --Demicx 13:12, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may have sysop rights on that project. Why do you specifically ask for bureaucrat rights? Thanks. villy 08:15, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The main reason for my request is that I will be able to give sysop status myself to the other users from the Bosnian Wikipedia to help develop the project. Thank you. --Demicx 09:06, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's true that we are not so much helping in the project (and most of the users do not speak basque), but I think that a bureaucrat is needed not to be requesting permissions here and because I know the work of each user better (in the basque wikiquote). Removal of access

Self-de-adminship can be requested here, and will be granted immediately. You may be asked to prove you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki first, by putting information on your talk page on your local wiki, that you're requesting de-adminship.

To request the removal of sysop access from another user, please gain consensus on this on your own wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When it is finished and there is a community consensus to desysop a user, a trusted person from that wiki should just provide a link here to the discussion and a very brief explanation of what the results of that were.

Please do not open discussions here about rights.

I request sysop rights on Avar wikipedia.

Comment: Avar is my mother tongue. I live in a Avar speaking community. I've graduated from the Daghestani State University, department of Avar philology (i. e. I know the actual Avar orthography etc.). I need the admin rights to start translating the interface and to be able to face vandalism. There is no voting page at av:, because the Avar wikipedia is currently inactive. Ok. As we did in similar cases in lack of a community, but in need to customize the interface, I suggest to give you admin rights until June 30th. Is this ok for you? --Paginazero 13:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing the recent heavy vandalizing at av: I'd propose to give Monarch79 admin rights untill the New Year or at least untill autumn. Why: he is the only person writing Avar at av:, he is Avar phylologist, he is adequate and appears online often (every night, I presume). - Slavik IVANOV, os:'s admin.
I strongly second that, I've been trying to fight against the vandalism going on at the Avar Wikipedia, and tried to figure out how to get rid of that person. I hope, MONARCH79 will be successful. Although I do not speak Avar, I will continue to help out with interwiki links, fix wikisyntax and stuff like that. Maybe I'll learn a little Avar through that. Maybe he can summon more helpful Avars to write entries... — N-true 01:07, 24 May 2006 (CET)

Done - temporary adminship until September 30th; hoping some new Avar editors will come and a regular votation will take place to make this adminship permanent. --Paginazero 06:13, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sinhala Wikipedia

I request sysop access on Sinhala Wikipedia.

  • Language Code: si
  • Local Request Link: none
  • Local User Page: si:User:Lee

Comment: Our Wikipedia is almost inactive except for two or three people. I need admin rights to make changes to the interface.

Thank you. - Rathne 03:29, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should start a vote and get the support of the community, then report here the link to the votation page. However, on a short term, if you just need to translate the interface in Sinhala, we can grant you a temporary adminship to give you the access to the system pages. How about one month? --Paginazero 06:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, That would be fine. I'm not an expert in both MediaWiki and Wikipedia. Plus I won't be working 100% on the this project. So I will not be able to complete the entire work in that time. Anyway something is better than nothing. :-) Thanks for the support. - Rathne 14:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done - temporary sysophood until June 30th. --Paginazero 14:16, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

rm.wikipedia.org

I am requesting to be an admin in Rumantsch Wikipedia. I think there are no other active admins. My user page: http://rm.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Gion-andri (Excuse my english, i'm a reto-rumantsch men :-) )

Gion-andri, you should start a vote on Rumantsch Wikipedia and get the support of the Rumantsch community.
However, given that currently there are no admins on rm.wiki, if you want to translate the interface in Rumantsch, we can give you the adminship for a limited time (one month?). Can this be ok? --Paginazero 19:15, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
this is ok for me. one month should be enough. thanks
Done - temporary sysophood until May 31st. Bye. --Paginazero 12:13, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sd.wikipedia.org
  • I made w:sd:User:Aursani temporary sysop there. This appointment expires on 2006-06-31
    • He is the only active user there and likes to setup the wiki, translate stuff and so. If after 3 months there are no complains, this user was active and did not do to strange things as sysop or if there by then some other active users approve he can stay sysop. Check of he by then has discovered that you need to include licence information when uploading files. --Walter 14:34, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Papiamentu Wikipedia

At the moment there are no administrators in the pap Wikipedia. There are pages that have to be deleted and the interface has yet to be translated. I hereby request temporary adminship for the Papiamentu Wikipedia

User:Ragib @ bn.wikibooks

I am an admin in English wikipedia (en:User:Ragib) and Bangla wikipedia (bn:ব্যবহারকারী:Ragib). I would like to request sysop status for Bangla wikibooks. I have already started working on translation of mediawiki text for bn wiki, and interwiking articles between bn and en wiki. I'd like to start on doing the same for bn wiki book too. --Ragib 22:52, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ragib, as long as a community does not exist, we cannot grant a permanent sysop status to anyone. How about a temporary permission (one month?), in order to fix the MediaWiki intefrace? --Paginazero 09:35, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That is fine by me. Could I have something like 6 weeks or so? There hasn't been any localisation work in the bn wikibooks, I need to complete it. Thanks. --Ragib 21:02, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done - temporary sysophood until May 31st. Bye. --Paginazero 08:40, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stewardship Korean cluster

This is *not* for requests to become steward of the Wikimedia Foundation. Those are appointed by the board.

For technical reasons there were "Florida-cluster Stewards" and "Korean-Cluster stewards" until March 2006. Then Florida-cluster stewards could here request to become also Korean-cluster steward.

This section will be removed due to lack of necessary of request.

Remark
All stewards who had an account on the Japanese Wikipedia as of February 8 2006 were given steward access on both clusters.
