Creating Online training resources for Kashmiri Wikipedia
- Q. Indicate if it is a local, international, or regional proposal and if it involves several countries? (optional)

- Q2. If you have answered regional or international, please write the country names and any other information that is useful for understanding your proposal.
- R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.
- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
Kashmiri language Wikipedia was started in 2004 but has remained undeveloped since then. The community has marked some reasons for its underdeveloped nature which includes lack of adequate resources to help new editors. There are no help pages, no audio or video tutorials which puts a break on the development of this wiki as newcomers can't find resources on how to edit. The current environment is not suitable for a beginner to understand how to edit. Tutorials on How to add links, How to edit using Visual editor etc. are missing, It might be hard for them to mix-up with the interface. As such, It is one of the main reason of its underdeveloped nature. This seems to be the first problem that we need to overcome before we try to organize other events in future. We can't expect to have a better impact of outreach activities if basic structure of Wikipedia is missing. The existence of tutorials will have a direct impact on other events. We are trying to solve this issue by creating Audio, Video and Textual resources.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
Our strategy will be to get basic support from foundation, mark important Help pages and work on them. We will be creating text Help pages, related Audio and Video tutorials, and other guides so that the beginners won't face problems, and they can transition to pro editors. Creating videos tutorials will provide a good understanding to the new users.
- Creating Text, Audio and Video tutorials will help the users to understand how to edit, which will increase the chances of contribution, there by helping in the development of the Wiki. Besides existing editors can be directed to the pages so that they can benefit from them. Its an established fact that Audio and Visual tutorials prove efficient in providing knowledge to the newcomers and make the process of learning easy.
- We will be interacting with the existing and newusers and recieve their feedback to make it more effective.
- 3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?
- Communicating with the community to create a list of the most important Help pages needed.
- Creating Text pages from the list.
- Creating audio tutorials in Kashmiri-language.
- Creating Video tutorials in Kashmiri-language
- Integrating the Audios and Videos into text pages.
- Taking feedback from the community and remodeling if necessary.

We will not be measuring most core metrics for this project because they're not applicable as the project is not geared towards wiki main space content generation which the metrics focus on. Reasons for the specific ones we are not measuring are given below:
