DeltaQuad[edit]

Hello, I'm DeltaQuad from the English Wikipedia where I am an admin, edit filter manager, oversighter, checkuser, and arbitrator. I've started editing on meta to assist with translations from English to French. To date, I have reviewed 47 translations, made 56 translations and plan to continue doing so for the foreseeable future. The reason I am requesting translation administrator rights is to make changes and approve them for translation where the English grammar does not make sense, or there is an easier way to translate something. What do you mean by "easier way to translate something"? I imagine things rather tend to become more difficult if the source language text is being changed. --Vogone (talk) 00:46, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not confortable either. I have made more translations than you did and I think you should focus more on the basic tasks for a while. In addition to that, I can't really check that you are a fr-3. This old message is not great for example. Maybe you have improved, but how can I know? here you can see the changes made on your version by another user: titles like Les concepteurs désiraient sound a little bit weird. I also believe, but this is just my personal view, that translating on meta requires a good cross-wiki knowledge too. A robust meta activity could compensate but you really have few edits.     Alexmar983, as I know, TA does not really have to make good translations, it is not his main duty. Yes, if a person does not really know a language and translates into it regularly, it can be called vandalism because of massive false translations. Ergo, translation administrators nedd just to be able to mark pages properly. Serious language skills are not required. --Ochilov (talk) 14:06, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Closed as a successful request. There is overall consensus to grant this right to DeltaQuad, a trusted user. Having extra users to support the management of translations and set up pages properly to make the job as easy as possible for translators is beneficial for all.
