Translations[edit]

Thanks to everyone helping to translate! Felipe da Fonseca, Wikitanvir (WMF) mentioned they were hoping for a Portuguese translation of either the newsletter (this page) or at least the short version. If you have availability we would really appreciate it! Xeno (WMF) (talk) 11:26, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Xeno (WMF) Sure, thanks for letting me know.--Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 11:48, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Xeno (WMF) this news was an excellent idea, congratulations. I think the page has internationalization problems, the links are too complex and "anchor|sec1" and etc. was put in for translation, I can fix that if I want. --Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 12:03, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Felipe da Fonseca all assistance is appreciated! Xeno (WMF) (talk) 12:12, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't solve the problem of the "anchor|sec1" and etc. I call Pols12 to help, whereupon I also learn how to do it. I believe the best thing is to take the template off. --Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 12:38, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Xeno (WMF) An additional recommendation for internationalization: break the larger paragraphs into two or even three smaller paragraphs, this makes translation easier.--Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 13:32, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Felipe, we will include this in our future instructions for submissions. Xeno (WMF) (talk) 14:10, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Juan90264 Can you finish it for me? We need to translate the tamplate too, but I haven't seen if it's ready for translation yet, if not I'll do it later. --Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 14:22, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Felipe da Fonseca and Juan90264: Thanks for helping out. {{Universal Code of Conduct/Newsletter/Header}} and {{Universal Code of Conduct/Newsletter/Body top}} are the two templates associated with the newsletter that you can translate.
@Felipe da Fonseca: Please do not take the anchor templates off now, that links to specific section from the global message. I've another idea to fix it which I will do soon. — Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 18:27, 10 June 2021 (UTC) — Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 18:27, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Felipe da Fonseca and Juan90264: Could you please translate the global message in Portuguese so we can send the message to the talk pages? Thanks a lot! — Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 18:37, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wikitanvir (WMF) ok, we do it. Ok, I will not take the anchor off, but... could you plase explain to my, why use anchor? I can not see the utility. --Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 19:28, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Felipe da Fonseca: The purpose of the anchor is to link to specific section. Although we could use the section heading but if we change it or in the case of the translation, the links will not work. Anchor will remain unchanged and it's not affected by the translation. Thanks. — Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 20:04, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Xeno (WMF) and Wikitanvir (WMF) for the next requests, please make them in: WikiProject Pt-Br. By the way, Juan90264 translated the Newsletter, but it was delivered in English, Juan, can you explain what you explained to me before?--Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 14:13, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sure Felipe! @Xeno (WMF) and Wikitanvir (WMF): The newsletter was sent in English at our Village Pump, because the system only detects "Portuguese" and not "Brazilian Portuguese". What did it be sent in English. But now a question came to me, would it be possible for the system to detect "Brazilian Portuguese" if there is a "Portuguese" translation? Juan90264 (talk) 20:36, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Juan90264 thanks, did you open a phabricator taks? If yes, than can you link it here? Thanks. --Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 00:12, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tracked in Phabricator:
Task T32217 Pols12: I thought you had helped with this question before. Where did we land on it? Xeno (WMF) (talk) 12:44, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(link fixed,ty Felipe!)
Xeno (WMF) I think the Phabricator link is not working. --Felipe da Fonseca (talk) 12:52, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Juan90264 just so I understand the question are you wondering which version will get delivered by MassMessage if both pt and pt-be existed? Also, thank you for delivering the translated version - please also distribute further past the announcements as needed. (Maybe you already did that too :) Xeno (WMF) (talk) 12:56, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The issue seems to be a misuse of MassMessage. You can read multilingual newsletter guide. -- Pols12 (talk) 18:12, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
