Unit segmentation[edit]

Dear TheAafi, Please check the page if well segmented before marking it for translation. Your marking here introduced some issues: the heading were not isolated properly in units 3, 19, 97, 102, 106, 116 and 120; also, some markers have been wrongly moved, ideally we should restore their original location before marking the page, else we should remove them because they do not match with previous content. -- Pols12 (talk) 16:33, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Pols12, Thanks for the note. I would surely take care of this in future but I need some time to fix this mess this time. ─ The Aafī (talk) 16:40, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Pols12: I've undid the edit for now to see how I can learn from this. I've to be in the college very early in the morning and will see this later. Unfortunately Meta:Internationalization guidelines doesn't have very much on segmentation. Your notes help very much. Thanks. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:02, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just have fixed the page. Actually, the marker should stay along with the content, but editors usually don’t know how to handle them, that’s why we should to check no mess have been introduced before marking the page. -- Pols12 (talk) 17:41, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks @Pols12. On Meta:Babylon, just below the Communications, I feel there's a problem in unit 14. <span style="font-size:larger"> and </span> should be excluded from the translation. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:03, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
On that unit, the best segmentation would probably be splitting the list to have one unit per item. But keeping the full list in one unit is acceptable because it is not so huge (8 relatively short items). So, this is harder to exclude some parts from the unit. The only possibility would be to use tvar; however html tags are handled as insertables in translate interface, so wrapping them in tvars would not be so useful for translators. That would make the text a bit shorter, but that would be harder to understand what the tvar contains to ensure they are well located in translations. -- Pols12 (talk) 20:00, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Movement Charter: Some suggestions[edit]

Dear @TheAafi and Manavpreet Kaur:,

I read with interest the chapters related to "Movement Charter" I've jotted down a few suggestions here, although most of the points mentioned sound reasonable. --Muzammil (talk) 07:42, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Hindustanilanguage, Thanks for taking your time and going entirely through the draft chapters of the Charter. The in-person meeting with you was also delightful and I did note some points from our conversation as well. I will make sure that your suggestions are heard. --- Movement Charter Ambassador for DCW and Indic-Urdu communityThe Aafī (talk) 08:03, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello TheAafi, Would you please prepare this and this pages for translation? -- BIDROHI Hello.. 11:33, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Mrb Rafi, thanks for the request. These pages are too big to begin with but I enjoy. I have just finished preparing and marking Needs assessment for documentation and revitalization of Indic languages using Wikimedia projects for translation and will see the other one when I get some more leisure time. Please let me know if there is anything else where you need my assistance. Regards, ─ The Aafī (talk) 12:59, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done both. ─ The Aafī (talk) 13:19, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, take love. -- BIDROHI Hello.. 14:11, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi TheAafi,

Could you please help me get the translation tags in place for the added image here? I kept getting warnings about nested translation tags when I tried to do this. Ciell (talk) 06:11, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Ciell, It just needed a tvar tagging. I have done that. The problem you encountered because the file was already placed in between translate tags and as such no translated tags are required. ─ The Aafī (talk) 06:23, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
By this edit, I have made it more convenient. The caption can be translated now. ─ The Aafī (talk) 06:29, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ahh, thanks! Ciell (talk) 15:44, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Ciell, You are welcome. Please let me know if there is anything else where you need my help, here, on Commons and on Wikidata. ;) ─ The Aafī (talk) 16:05, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
