West Bengal Wikimedians User Group held its 2024 Annual General Meeting yesterday[edit]

Hello ZI Jony!

We are sending you this message as you have signed up as a general member of the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group. We would like to inform you that the user group has organized its 2024 Annual General Meeting of Representative Members yesterday at the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata. In this meeting, we have adopted revised bylaws based on the feedback and suggestions coming from our members (see changes) and selected 10 new Representative Members based on the objective criteria set in the bylaws with regards to their recent or overall online and offline contributions. A new Representative Committee has also been formed while replacing 3 out of 5 members, who have completed their full term tenure for this responsibility. The participants have also shared learning from the projects taken from previous year and shared plans about new projects which they are willing to take during this year on behalf of the user group. We are also introducing a mentorship program from this year, where willing general members can work together with our program leads in user group programs and learn from each other. So, stay tuned for more excitements!

Regards,
Bodhisattwa

Sub-menu on Edu Newsletter (translation)[edit]

Hello, there, I appreciate very much your push for the Edu newsletter, and I am among the first reading them over here (=

Now, would you kindly advise me how I can translate the sub-menues? They are on Education/News#Newsroom (?), and I am lost where they are located as shown as :

  • Submit your article
  • Publication Guidelines
  • Archive
  • Subscribe

You know, my largest dream is that your newsletter will reach those college students at w:Waseda Univeirsity in Tokyo, who will someday post on Edu Newsletter.

For your info, the group leader, an alumnae, Eugene Ormandy is active on Diff, updating partnership with Malay and Indonesian students since last Wikimania in Singapore. Great that jawiki will be linked to neighboring language editions. Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 08:15, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Omotecho, you are talking about education navigation template, which is located here, if you are interested to translate, please do so there. I'd like to invite you to express your experience Wikipedia in education. Please submit your article here, read how to publish an article here, or you could subscribe education newsletter here, and This Month in Education newsletter will be delivered to your talk page. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 10:45, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, your first link lands to Template:Education_Navigation/ja, and before I check en-ja translation progress, I realized the structure you have built, congratulations !^o^!
I have two ideas:
(1) How about we use template:Navbox at page bottom? I think a navbox will be handy to map Education initiative, and search or what theme you will take up, and users will find where to post their accomplishment.
(2) More pages to internationalize.
Is there anything I can assist you in this purpose? Adding translate tags, or maybe:
  • make a subpage for the time being, as I am not sure how many translators are willing to join the effort, or;
  • Do we have an option to apply for WMF Community Grants?
As I am a translator, pages I wish to recommend to ja readers are as follows, or those in the education sphere might find familiar.
Maybe ja users are shy to input, but reading is participation. I wish to have <languages> tags added to:
Not done subpages are treasure trove to see the bright possibilities this initiative cultivate each education sphere:
I'd appreciate very much if you would advise me if this topic be moved to any page else, Cheers, and arigatow, -- Omotecho (talk) 04:53, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Omotecho:, thanks for your idea, we have so many things to update as we recently connected with EduWiki. You're welcome and feel free to improve. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 11:37, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I was thinking, too, that maybe I will sandbox and ask my peers to jump in (=
Goo luck during the transition, and we are all with you d(^o^)b Omotecho (talk) 11:47, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

Good day. In future, please split these kind of text when marking pages for translation. Having a huge unit will cause unnecessary mess when only one bullet point is changed. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 09:40, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Minorax:, your advice well noted. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 12:06, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
