Agenda and notes

  • It is discouraging to we are not able to see statistics of number of articles created per year by participants of WikiProject LGBT.
  • Status of the country of the month: Colombia. We are keeping a good rhythm in comparison to other months. We are looking forward to seeing the results of the editathons from WMCO and WMAR that have joined in with our activity. Mister Roboto described his experience in a editathon with WMAR, during which he created the article travesticidio, and also spoke how difficult it is to draft articles about trans and nonbinary people. We went back to discuss the month of Paraguay, Freddy mentions that although the number of articles was low (11), in absolute terms Paraguay barely had any LGBT articles; thus they created the essential articles that contextualise the Paraguayan LGBT experienc. In any case Colombia will be the next Country of the Month.
  • In June we worked on a lot of articles, when focussing on a subject that was not limited to an individual country. It was suggested that we have one week or a day each month to focus on LGBT anniversaries, to devote our efforts into improving the corresponding articles. We will use both the eswiki annex page of LGBT Festivities and the eswiki WikiProject LGBT page of Anniversaries, and will try to coordinate and advise ourselves with those.
  • Difficulties in getting LGBT images onto Commons (we can use the Wikimedia Argentina video at youtube or suggest free photographs from Flickr that use licences compatibe with CC-BY).
  • Choosing the next country of the month: we discussed options like Brazil, El Salvador and Costa Rica. Finally we will choose between Brazil and El Salvador in a vote on Telegram. Also we discussed to clarify some ideas on how to choose the country of t he moth, how to alternate between some countries where we think we will be able to find more references and others that will be a challenge. In spite of expecting Central American countries to be difficult, Freddy suggests that he has found a wide bibliography, which is encouraging.
  • On the articles about Spain: there are Featured Articles in some areas (such as Culture or Literature). It was suggested that we create summaries of these parts in the main article in order to move the large part of the content to their respective articles.
  • Miguel talked about his participation in RNE radio along Wikimeda España, where he talked about the Wikiproject LGBT.
  • A new target in Spanish: Work to nominate to Good Articles, preferably articles on LGBT Culture by country during the "Country of the Month" challenge.
  • We have to encourage ourselves more in Featured Content. Freddy explained the experience of a Featured Article on the eswiki Main page, and how the number of pageviews grew incredibly, both to the article and to other articles it linked to. He suggested that the chronological annexes are a good option for this, and that the essential articles for Chile could be nominated. (The Spanish Wikipedia has "Annexes" where enwiki has List articles.)
  • Mister Roboto commented that he will focus on cultural aspects of the relationship between religion and LGBT content.
  • gatodemichi is promising to engage in more activity with the WikiProject.
