Talk:Interwiki Women Collaboration

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Mi hai preceduta :-D[edit]

@Jaluj: I prepared this page on the same time, but you came first :-D. Gracias. I have the first list of women, from Egypt. We also have the column of sitelinks which is important to see how many languages are for that article (sometimes a big number could be a sign of notability). --Camelia (talk) 23:11, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Camelia.boban: I put that link here too. --Jalu (talk) 00:34, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the path, Wikidata lists doesn't work in Meta, but are moved automaticcally in enwiki. Lists for women from every country which is missing in any language. So we will have lists of Italian women which are missing in itwiki, in eswiki, in hrwiki, in arwiki; Argentinian women missing in itwiki, eswiki, hrwiki and arwiki and so on. We need to do some combinations. I'm working on this ;-). --Camelia (talk) 11:56, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikidata lists I was talking about are here. And here is our 25 Le Imprescindibili list, with Armenian and Arabic transliteration (where is not present mean that the biography is to be written), images and Wiki data items. --Camelia (talk) 23:28, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

General question about new embryonic group[edit]

I have a question. Is Inter WikiWomen also supposed to act as a way to test new Wikiwomen group before they are formally launched? I mean, if group of women from Burundi or Vietnam want to join, they can before creating a real UG?--Alexmar983 (talk) 01:10, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Of course yes! This could be a way to gain the first experience. --Camelia (talk) 11:42, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
-Alexmar983, you can join us! Please, write your list! You don't need to create a UG before joining us. You are welcome to work with us! --Jalu (talk) 15:08, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am with you. I am WikiDonne. But Jalu if I had time maybe I can create some subgroup in a neighboring country such as Switzerland or Malta. Only if Camelia likes the idea...--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:10, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I will add an empty list for Switzerland and Malta, feel free to complete it. --Jalu (talk) 15:12, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Alexmar983, I already wrote the names of the cuntries you can add women to that lists if you want. --Jalu (talk) 15:15, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I did not receive the ping, I see however User:Nattes à chat and User:camelia.boban did something for Switzerland.--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:10, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Medieval Arabic women poets[edit]

WikiProject Arabic has a partial list of Medieval Arabic women poets you are welcome to use. The list is based on lua modules, so it shows blue links for all the language wikis in real time. We had a lot of problems trying to get the lists to work, but after talking to WikiData and Wikimedia Levant at Wikimania 2017 in Montreal, it is somewhat better. Avery Jensen (talk) 18:04, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

i was going to say, use listeria to update your language lists. another example is wikidata:Wikidata:Europeana_Art_History_Challenge/Italy -- Slowking4 (talk) 19:57, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.--Jalu (talk) 17:46, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. --Camelia (talk) 19:52, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

gap finder tool[edit]

for those that do not like lists, this gap finder tool is good for generating articles in other languages by views. http://recommend.wmflabs.org/#Recommend on ramp to translator tool. tends to get popular culture - actors and television personalities. -- Slowking4 (talk) 20:29, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.--Jalu (talk) 17:46, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The problema that I see is that, at list for argentinian women, the names that appear are not notable!--Jalu (talk) 17:56, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
yes, when translating, keep in mind the local rules. however, page views implies citations are out there. Slowking4 (talk) 18:22, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
also for those athletically minded, there are a lot of volleyball players FIVB has references and english has list articles, i.e. en:2018_FIVB_Volleyball_Women's_Nations_League_squads#_Argentina; en:2018_FIVB_Volleyball_Women's_Nations_League_squads#_Italy; en:2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup + [1] -- a little stubby, but thousands of names there. Slowking4 (talk) 18:22, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Slowking4 but in Argentina and latinoamerica we prefer to select the most notable women and we already have thousands of chosen names. We have a lot of lists. --Jalu (talk) 00:18, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Aim of the round[edit]

Hi I did not understand what we were supposed to do: translate bios from armenian women? Set up a list pf prominent francophone women to be trasnlated? I've posted on les sans pages on the francophone wiki here: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sujet:Uixuxklvlwt1zc4c Nattes à chat (talk) 16:55, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ːHi Nattes à chat. Nice to meet you. The aim of this collaboration is to translate the bios of the women from the countries which participate in this round. I added women from your list to Armenian page so that my community will translate them too.
In October Yerevan will host Sommet de la francophonie so we plan to have a edit-a-thon. I will need this and maybe more list to prepare for that event Armineaghayan ArmAg 18:42, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mariam Vardanian translated in French[edit]

Thank you ǃ

Interwikiwomen2 in French[edit]

Hi I created a project page in French here:https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projet:Les_sans_pagEs/Interwikiwomen2#Articles_traduits_en_Français

Merci. Et j'ai ajouté une liste de biographies de femmes italiennes (éliminant celles déjà existantes) à écrire en français et j'ai inclus sur la page en italien les biographies des femmes suisses à traduire. And I added a list of biographies of Italian women (eliminating those already existing) to be written in French and I have included on the page in Italian the biographies of Swiss women to be translated.--Camelia (talk) 19:51, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Metrics[edit]

Has anyone tried the outreach dashboard yet? https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/ It can give you information about your event: number of articles created, number of bytes added, page views, etc. It is easier to set up before the event, but you can still do it after the event. Avery Jensen (talk) 22:57, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, sorry for my very delayed response. This is the campaign on Dashboard, these are the slides with the real metrics (only some events are registered, we are still engaging people to use this tool). --Camelia (talk) 00:30, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Participation of German speaking WP community (Germany, Austria)[edit]

Hello together,

several of us from the German-speaking community were at Wikimania, heard of this project and that the next round will start tomorrow. We want to participate and have started to prepare a list of the 25 most notable German and Austrain women which are no longer living. The hitch (if one can call it that :-)) is that for many of these women there are already articles in other language-Wikipedieas (English, French, Spanish, etc.). So, how does this work? It does not become clear from the description on the other side. We'd appreciate it if you clarify (asap?) so that we can provide our list.

Furthermore, we try to understand the structure of these pages right now. Any suggestions are welcome.

[By the way, if anybody wonders: we do not create a list of Swiss women because they are already covered by the Fench list.] Best wishes, Leserättin (talk) 12:39, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Leserättin, the reason we used this very very notable women lists was to not waste time checking is are notable in our own language. If are so notable (in Italian Wikipedia are politics, Nobel Prize or Oscar winners that we choose doing a survey on our Facebook group), on one hand is much easier that are notable in all languages, but on another hand the risk that are already written in the major languages is relevant (but maybe not in other). So yes, please provide your list about German and Austrain women, thank you ;-). --Camelia (talk) 00:41, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings from Women in Red[edit]

Hello! I’m here as an emissary from en-wiki Women in Red—we’re looking forward to collaborating on the 2021 event! As I am relatively new, I would be grateful for some guidance about how we can best contribute. We’re setting up our event page here: en:Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_in_Red/Meetup/207 and because our invitations go out monthly, we’ll run it for the full two months of August and September. If you have feedback about the event page or perhaps more crucially, anything we need to do to make sure our participants are contributing to the global tally (I’m not certain how tracking works?), I’d be grateful if you’d let me know. Thanks so much for your work on this! Innisfree987 (talk) 21:50, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
