Project page redesign[edit]

Thanks to @Harej: for the project page redesign in special:diff/23440846/24240994.

There is a lot of Wikimedia community participation and interest in this project, and the off-wiki stakeholders care a lot too. I support all these changes because they simplify the project page, make content more accessibility, and will be better for current and future participants. Bluerasberry (talk) 19:38, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Bluerasberry. I encourage others to freely make changes to other pages – these pages belong to all of us – and I especially encourage people to add projects to WikiCite/Projects. Also if you have the time feel free to add yourself to Connect/WikiCite. Harej (talk) 18:14, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm getting "SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN" at Wikicite.org -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:31, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

That website works fine for me - it's not throwing any errors (perhaps fixed between when you saw it and my trying today?). But moreover - that domain is owned/operated by User:Nichtich, not by WMF or an Affiliate etc. Wittylama (talk) 14:28, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
You will get that error if trying to access the website by HTTPS. Wikicite.org at this time only supports HTTP. While I think all the links to wikicite.org on this page are specified as HTTP it may need to be fixed somewhere. Harej (talk) 15:50, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Would you speak with us regarding how you use Wikidata in other projects?[edit]

Hello WikiCite editors, Wikimedia Deutschland has a new project team investigating the different ways Wikidata is being used in the other Wikimedia projects.

If you would be interested in such a discussion, we encourage you to register for an interview with us at the following link: Sign Up Here

  • The format will be a 1-hour (recorded) call.
  • Interviews can only be conducted in English (our apologies).
  • Compensation is available. More information here.
  • Interview Sessions will be held in January and February.

Please note that we probably won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX researcher will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g. in terms of wiki experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. If you’re a fit, she will reach out to you to schedule an appointment. We hope to hear from you, -- Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 15:54, 9 January 2024 (UTC) (Dear admins, if this has been posted in an inappropriate area, please remove / archive and accept my apology)Reply

Call for participation: Test and co-create a new feature for reusing references with different details (sub-referencing)[edit]

Hello. The Technical Wishes team at Wikimedia Deutschland is seeking to look over the shoulders of some Wikipedians who predominantly use Visual Editor, or switch between wikitext and Visual Editor when editing, especially when working with references.

Sessions will take 30–45 minutes and will include testing an early prototype for sub-referencing (= reusing references with different details) with Visual Editor. Compensation is available. If you are interested, please sign up here.

Please note that – as with the message from Danny, right above this one – most likely, we won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX designer will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g., in terms of editing experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. If you’re a fit, she will reach out to you to schedule an appointment.
