need some help - harassment and other issues

hi. thanks so much your reply, and your comments directing me here! I am frantically trying to find my way around here, before the whole project closes. it's a bit of a thicket, from my point of view, although I'm sure lots of people here navigate with ease.

could you please tell me where I could make some comments on preserving stability and also on issues of handling harassment? I have some ideas on this that I'd like share. your note on this seems fortuitous. could you please help me figure out where to go for discussions on this? thanks!!

What do you mean by "before the whole project closes"? We talked about several projects.

What kind of stability?

For harassment, there are maybe 10 unrelated behaviors which have different responses but which all are harassment. For an orientation to the topic either experience misconduct response by viewing the management of live cases at en:Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents or read up on financial investment at Community health initiative. gotcha. okay, that's good to know. so if that's the case, then is there still any available way for me to offer any thoughts to this process? sorry, I realize this is late, but I had no idea about any of this until now, thanks to you.

By the way, I meant civility, not stability. and I simply wanted to know where civility and harassment might be getting discussed, here at this strategy project.

LGBT topics and events in Latin America

As Latin America is so big, major events would vary by country. I didn't know about that event in Brazil, but for example, in Ecuador (where I'm from), the decriminalization of homosexuality in 1997 was a pretty major event (Case No. 111-97-TC (Q5048319)), as it came after the first ever public protests by LGBT people in the country, which were triggered by a police raid of an LGBT bar.

I think one of the biggest events that is having repercussion throughout the continent is the Advisory Opinion on Gender Identity, Equality, and Non-Discrimination of Same-Sex Couples (Q56378556), which was released in 2017 by the Interamerican Court of Human Rights and basically mandates all signatory countries in the region to legalize same-sex marriage. It has already been implemented by Costa Rica and Ecuador and will be probably remembered as the catalyst for same-sex marriage legalization in the rest of the countries. Another pretty important event is the São Paulo LGBTQ Pride Parade (Q429633), which is the biggest pride event in Latin America and has held the Guinness Record for biggest pride parade in the world in multiple years, it is attended by about 4 million people every year.

Another article that hasn't been created in many wikipedias is homosexuality in pre-Columbian civilizations (Q5474808), which I already added to the list. It's pretty cool to learn how homosexuality was so integrated in many South American civilizations, for instance in the chimú culture. There are also more sinister topics related to homophobia that don't have articles yet, for instance, I've read a lot about how it was common in the 80's for young guys of rich families to go "gay hunting", i.e. go in groups in fancy cars to find gay or trans prostitutes in order to beat them up with bats. Apparently it was a common practice among the elite. I don't know if this only happened in Latin America though.

Back to happier topics, there are also many LGBT works of art (mainly books and movies) that have gained great notoriety throughout the world, like Hell Has No Limits (Q5369068), Kiss of the Spider Woman (Q646668), A Fantastic Woman (Q28127580), among many others. I'm a literature nerd so LGBT books are actually one of my focuses in wikipedia XD --Freddy eduardo (talk) 21:10, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

AI legislation

Dear Bluerasberry,

I contact you since you are marked among the "People who are interested" in Advanced technology page. As you might already know, the EU is working about a regulation of the AI environment, in order to promote its potential and at the same time to protect the citizens from unwanted uses. It is going to be an important moment for achieving the most empowering, safe and clear definition of the rights and duties related to the AI, affecting also Wikimedia's opportunities, not only inside EU. I kindly invite you to participate to the discussion, firstly by commenting the page that is dedicated to it, in order to draft Wikimedia's answers to this legislative initiative of the EU.

The linked page contains the questions from the public consultation by the European Commission on its Artificial Intelligence White Paper.

The EU's survey will remain open until 14 June 2020, but we will take input into account until 31 May 2020.

Hello; My name is Mervat, and I am helping the Trust and Safety team to reach out to affiliates in order to discuss the Universal Code of Conduct. I am contacting you as you are a member of the Wikimedians for Sustainable Development User Group. If you have received this from other user groups/chapters, you can ignore.

There has been talks about the need for a global set of conduct rules in different communities over time, and finally, Wikimedia Foundation Board announced a Community Culture Statement, enacting new standards to address harassment and promote inclusivity across projects.Since the universal code of conduct that will be a binding minimum set of standards across all Wikimedia projects, will apply to all of us, staff and volunteers alike, all around the globe, and will impact our work as groups, individuals and projects, it’s of great importance that we all participate in expressing our opinions and thoughts about UCoC, its nature, what we think it should cover or include and what it shouldn’t include; how it may develop, drawback or help our groups.   This is the time to talk about it. As you are a valuable contributor to the Wikimedia movement, your voice counts. Wikisource Pagelist Widget - First Iteration Feedback

I am pleased to announce that Wikisource Pagelist Widget is now available on Beta Wikisource. We need your help in testing the widget and providing feedback.

You can test the widget by editing the following Index page on Beta Wikisource:

There is a new ‘Preview pagelist’ button under the pagelist field. Click it to get a preview, and then click on any page number in the preview to open the widget.

You can also create a fresh Index Page for any other PDF or DjVu from Wikimedia Commons and test it.

• What is your general opinion about the Pagelist Widget?
• Is it obvious how to use the widget? If not, what is difficult to understand?
