Please blacklist the "Bobby Boulders" links that I posted at the Spam Blacklist. Translation combination boxes[edit]

The following text was copied from Meta:Babel#Translation_combination_boxes. As an active translator, it may be of any interest to you:

Hi, Sabine worked on new boxes for translators. They aim at giving information about translation combination: say, I can translate from English to French, from Italian to Spanish, and so on. It would help us to know who can translate what, in what, to streamline the translation process. The boxes do not provide information about your level (wether you are a professional translator or not, for example); you may write something about this point in your user page (very useful as well). A few boxes are available, be bold and create those you need :) Be aware we use ISO 639-3 codes for languages (fra and not fr, eng and not en, ...).

Please see "Translator in the following language combinations" and pick up templates for your user page!
This message was pasted on several User talk pages of active translators.

Thank you :)

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Meta pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when.

And when using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thank you! --Az1568 00:40, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions[edit]

Hello. It seems the new translation system doesn't use the usual naming conventions. I have reverted your move [1] the time to understand which convention to use. guillom 18:43, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is Template:Election/Translation uses the old conventions with capital letters, and the new translation system uses lowercase letters. I think the best solution during the transition is to create redirect from one to the other. Anyway, the versions in other languages are available with the sidebar of the new system. guillom 19:02, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New blacklist log format[edit]

Hello M7. As one of the administrators who has used the new Spam blacklist log, I'd like to know what you think of a new format that would make editing the log much simpler. Instead of the previous format using a template and table, the new format is entirely plaintext. You can compare the September and October logs to see the difference. Your expert advice sought[edit]

Dear M7,

I saw that you're one of the guardians of the article Help:Displaying a formula. I wonder whether you can help me to identify the best way to display in Wikipedia articles on musical harmony and theory a notation known as "figured bass". Briefly, all that we require is to be able to stack arabic numerals vertically, either in isolation or immediately after a roman numeral. The section on stacking on the "Displaying a formula" allows me to do this, by pasting the math texts:

But when I replace "alpha" etc with arabic numerals, it won't work.

I can also produce this:

except that the V is in italic for some reason. This arrangement is what I mean by stacking arabic numerals immediately after roman, except that sometimes three rather than two stacked numerals are required.

If we can arrive at the right code for the stacking of arabic numerals, it would greatly improve our ability to write about music theory.

Can you assist us?

2. Non c'è interpretariato ufficiale in lingua moldava. --Nicolae 14:44, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Nicolae 14:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not talking about the final decision about the Wikipedia closure that you tell me that is exclusively a Board matter, though I personally have serious doubts, but the closing of vote which is another matter. Thank you. --.anaconda 17:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that they are the same person, there is no single edit under the same IP... I'd like for you to ask to another CU or at leasto to compare the IP used also on it.wiki. --M/ 00:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Requested in RFCU. --.anaconda 01:10, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I've just been promoted. --MK (ar) 20:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your account on the Arabic Wikipedia[edit]

Hi. I am User:Meno25 from the Arabic Wikipedia. You created a user page there in the User talk namespace. I moved it to the User name space. The Arabic languages is written from right to left so the tabs are reversed. I placed a welcome message in your user talk page there that contains a Don't speak Arabic? link. If you needed any help, just ask me. Thank you. --Meno25 08:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklist[edit]

Not to be annoying or anything, but I can't read Italian :). What happened, multiple accounts? Please reply on my talkpage, and sorry for the questions :). Eagle 101 03:17, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again can't read it![edit]

I'm sorry I just tend to like to see what is going on! Was the problem with multple IPs or what?

\bumatlantide\.it # M7 # requested.
\bsis007\.org # M7 # requested.

Those are the two I'm wondering about :) —— Eagle101 Need help? 00:45, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I do :) I just wonder how bad it is on it, I hear bad things about the spam over there :) Just wondering what your problem is over there... I might be able to find someone to make some tools or something to help deal wwith it. —— Eagle101 Need help? 03:26, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can't read it but I assume the sysops over there know to protect a page. So I'm guessing the problem is multiple socks and or IPs ambushing multiple pages. If that is the case, I can probably get someone to set up a counter spam bot for dealing with spambots. I'm asking this stuff to try to find ways to help everyone out. There was a big SEO conference a few days ago, and I'm wondering if some of that is a result of that, I'm just nosy for wondering what the spammers are up to, please don't take it the wrong way. In general I'm trying to automate as much as we can, and have a few redunctent methods (alternative to the blacklist) to deal with spam, an example of this is spam links that tend to be en-wiki only sometimes get added onto a bots blacklist rather then use the spam blacklist. This cuts down on the amount of links that we have to blacklist just for one wiki, and therefor makes en:joe jobs easier to spot. Some examples of the automation that I helped make is the spam archive search tool that can be found at the top of the meta blacklist page, makes figuring out why a link was added real simple. Same for a cross wiki linksearch tool that I helped to make. Information on that is laying around somewhere :) —— Eagle101 Need help? 03:29, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So would you guys have a use for counter spam bots? I tried google translate on the italian stuff, that did not work so well, so I really can't tell. Please let me know if counter spam bots would help. —— Eagle101 Need help? 22:31, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IP Block[edit]

I guess I don't need to request CU anymore. Cbrown1023 talk 16:44, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I THINK that this might be related based on my view into the CU log: commons:Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/Vandalism#CheckUser_vandal Please comment there if you think that would be helpful. ++Lar: t/c 18:10, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:cu[edit]

ciao M/, ho visto che ti sei flaggato come CU, in simple.wiki, tutto ok? --dario vet (talk) 21:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ci sono stati dei problemi ieri, volevo bloccare un IP per la creazione di sockpuppet multipli, ma avevano già provveduto! Ciao, M/ 22:48, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
