you block me because of open proxy can you unblock me so that a can write on wikipedia thank you and it is coming daily? why? please explain; otherwise people will go away from wiki. --RajeshUnuppally 09:54, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was also blockItalic texted for the same reason. - I think it is ridicolous to stop people from updating uncorrect articles. But it is like everywhere in the world, that the bureaucrates stop the others from working. User: Aufbereiter

block[edit]

Hey. I was told I was blocked from editing for using an "open proxy", and that the block would expire in October this year. I already have an account, why shouldn't I be able to use a proxy? Also, ending the block in October, isn't that a bit harsh? All my edits were constructive. سفيان رحماني 18:41, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I was told I was blocked from editing for using an "open proxy", and that the block would expire in October this year. I never used a proxy or any similar thing so pleas check this mistake . Hisham11223 18:41, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Shizhao,I have the same problem as of the above, you blocked my IP because of what you call "open proxy".I am an auto-reviewed editor, here you can see my edits. So,your decision to block my IP is unreasonable.--212.138.69.18 05:14, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Hello. I proposed a project for deletion some weeks ago (see proposal here). The problem is that there is a user (User:Node_ue) there that in my opinion vandalizes the proposal. He intercalated text in the very text of the proposal, and if you see that page, you might evan think that his additions are part of my proposal (because I signed the introduction). Moreover, I used sources to make the arguments in the proposal verifiable. In exchange, the user responded with texts like "that is a lie" (without providing any contrary source or such). I told him to discuss the proposal on the talk page, but not modify the very text of the proposal because that makes the proposal without object (and makes the vote on the proposal ambigous). I also asked him (see here) at least not to intercalate his text into my text, becase I signed the proposal, and by that he alterates what I wrote. Please not that I did not express opinions, I put just some referenced arguments. Here you can compare my last version with Node-ue's version. He also deleted some of the sources (?! - allthough they were not tricky). I thought about asking the protection of the page, but that will prevent other users to vote on the proposal. Please, can you suggest what I can do? Maybe putting the voting section into a new template, and include it on the proposal page, then protect the proposal page?! Please help me, because I'm stuck and I don't want to engage in edit wars. Have a nice day. --Danutz 00:07, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request[edit]

Hi Shizhao, a user is requesting unblock here from an address you blocked as an open proxy last week.[1] Would you mind taking a look at it? Thanks, Jafeluv 13:38, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Shizhao You have blocked around 2 million users as all UAE wikipedia users are showing up as using the same open proxy as me. Please revert the ban and use this function carefully in the future.

Block[edit]

I'm Admin on German Wikipedia, and I'm able to edit there. However, it looks like that for some reason you blocked the IP address of my company ("Open Proxy"). Although it says that only IP users but not logged-in users will be blocked, I currently cannot even edit my own discussion page on Commons. I assume it is becasue you forgot to remove the Autoblock. Please do so asap. Thks. --Nepenthes 08:22, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock Request[edit]

Hi Shizhao! I'm user from Spanish Wikipedia . My IP was blocked as an "Open Proxy". My internet service provider use this system (it's a mobile broadband). This IP has been blocked before for the user Antur. That user block only the IP users. In the past when I logged-in, I can edit but now that is impossible. Can you review this situation? Please. --Edocastillo 18:35, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Shizhao. About that, you accidentally wrote on his/her user page. Is it really necessary to ask the IP? Wouldn't it be better to ask him/her to provide it by e-mail, IRC or something? Regards.” Teles (Talk @ C G) 02:32, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shizhao user: USER'm just a rookie.[edit]

User Shizhao I apologize for making a mistake in editing my page for an "open proxy." I'm just a user that a few months ago that just knows how to use wikipedia and all I did was copy and paste commands of photography and links to other pages. I ask specifically that "unlock" my IP so you can continue to contribute to this project.

Archive of steward requests[edit]

Dear Shizhao. I don't know for sure, but shouldn't this be added to Steward requests/Permissions/Approved temporary instead of Steward requests/Permissions/2011-03? Please forgive me for asking if I'm wrong. I'm curious to your answer. Kind regards, Trijnstel 16:17, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Open proxy block[edit]

Hi Shizhao,

I am already editing Wikipedia since 2008 and you may check the credibility of my edits through Special:CentralAuth and am even granted an administrator status on Wikimedia Outreach (check sysop list). So please exempt me from the IP block, as I abide by the service provider's settings and have no other choice.

Appreciate your cooperation and your efforts to stop vandalism,

Thanks for your help, block is removed --HaythamAbulela 04:03, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that the block is sometimes effective and sometimes not, as I was able to make few edits and then the block was effective. Can you guide me how to settle this issue. I already emailed Redvers regarding this issue as he already removed a previous block. You may check my talk page. --HaythamAbulela 16:14, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My last request, can you grant me an IP exemption. It is not practical to contact each wiki I am registered in to have an IP exemption.

What is Shizhao's Field of Expertise[edit]

My main complaint about Shizhao and Uhai and others like them is that they monitor subjects they clearly know nothing about such as Lindsay German, Press TV, etc. I am guessing that neither of these 2 have ever been to the UK, yet it is down to them to monitor very British things. It would be like me discussing the workings of Russian politics - I wouldn't have a clue. But this stuff matters - these people are just not competent to do the job they are doing. Wikipedia keeps stressing its neutral stance, but the reality is that many entries read like press releases rather than serious discourse. It's something that must change - for example, Press TV is a front for the Iranian Govt, but try editing its page and it will be deleted. Instead it is treated with the same gravitas as the BBC. Just nuts and not credible. Wake up!

Global block[edit]

Hi Shizhao, could you take a look at this unblock request? Do you think it would be okay to change the block to anonymous-only? Thanks, Jafeluv 13:35, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, 86.96.226.85 is anonymous only, but 86.96.226.88 seems to be blocked for all users. See here. Jafeluv 13:50, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to ask about check user result[edit]

ko:User:Libera is my Korean Wikipedia account and was checked the same ip by user:shizhao. Ref.: Steward requests/Checkuser/2011-02#accounts that seems be made by sinchonji in ko.wikipedia Without advance notice and debate, Korean wiki steward ko:user:S.BULLET. was blocked me indefinitely on March 1st. But I hadn't made other account except user:Libera314 for meta wiki. I don't know any other multi-account users. Even editing habits are also different to others.

I used to edit wiki at wi-fi zone in the library has 30 PC. Using the same IP to whatever may be edited. Korea has a very high population density in a small area[2] and high internet penestration rate[3]. Sharing IP in the wi-fi zone, we can contact Wiki and edit the documents easily. So Users using Library's IP have the same ip inevitable. And I've never made a multi-account abuse of vandalism, negative vote for blocking reason. For this reason, I was tried to request Korean wiki steward ko:user:S.BULLET. to unblock in several ways.

Finally I made other account ko:User:Liberachoir to ask Korean wiki steward to unblock ko:User:Libera but rejected without any clear reason. Where can I appeal this injustice case? My account ko:user:libera ended up on Wikipedia to death, and killed off innocent. Korean steward just answered me asking on meta wiki.

nd I'm so curious about the meaning of 'confirmed' and 'likely'. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, --Liberas 06:35, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was confused. Ko:User:S.BULLET is Korean Wiki administrator, not steward. I was blocked in Korean Wiki. In this case, how can I unblock my korean account? And could you tell me the meaning of 'confirmed' and 'likely' of this result? What can I do for this case? I'm so nervous. --Liberas 10:14, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

meaning of confirmed & likely[edit]

If that(↑) is a hard question to answer, I'd like to know difference of 'confirmed' and 'likely' of this result. Does it mean that user ranked 'likely' has been editing same category? Ranked users have different editing habit but Ko. Wiki admin blocked Ko:User:Callitlove indefinitely also(It ranked in 'likely'). All Users hadn't made malicious edit, but blocked indefinitely... Can it be possible? It is so unfair. --Liberas 00:47, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the same user agent[edit]

Thanks for the answer. Does 'The same user agent' means that use the same kind of web browser? Almost every Korean uses the Internet Explorer. So every Korean users could be ranked to 'likely'. In this case, 'the same user agent' is not required condition to multi-accounts. And Ko:User:Callitlove wouldn't be the 'likely' account. Why did you made a decision Ko:User:Callitlove is similar account to others? I'm so curious about that. --Liberas 06:45, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. But in your opinion, every Korean users could be ranked to 'likely'. Because almost every Korean uses the Internet Explorer 8. In Korean Wiki, 'the same user agent' would not be required condition to multi-accounts. --Liberas 08:03, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not use admin rights at mr wiki[edit]

Dear Shizhao, At Marathi Wikipedia some one with similar user name to your meta user name [[4]] has used admin authority and deleted few pages. If it is you only using that account then please take note that Marathi Language Wikipedia has specific very clear local policy and we do not welcome interference from global admins and SWMTs .The same has been informed to you last year please refer to User talk:Shizhao/2008-2010#opting out request from mr wiki and mr wiktionary.I am sure hence forth you will be cautious and respect sentiments of local community .Thanks and Regards Mahitgar (He who knows ,wants to know and and loves to keep others informed) 12:13, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

@Mahitgar. I'm not Shizhao, but I want to react anyway. Could you please use the sysop tools (read: delete speedy deletions) a bit earlier in the future? The page श्रीगणेशा was nominated for speedy deletion for 17 days (more than 2 weeks). Shizhao deleted this page (and two others) today/yesterday for a good reason imo. Kind regards, Trijnstel 14:09, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am quite at pain to write back here, If Wikimedia Foundation and Meta has changed its policy of noo-interfere in local language wikis when the community desires so and is well communicated still we are going to face undue interference and get dictated then please do notify that strait away officially.
Please note two out of three deletions by Mr. Shizhao were utterly wrong and sorry but we are not happy about such interference.Even we do not want non Marathi language people to tell us what to keep and what to delete and when to delete. It is quite funny that bots are reporting directly to steward community (while we have a local community). Rest of 9 billion people may have different opinions and policy we Marathi Language Wikipedia are may be a small community with our own different decision making and have no reason and faith in compromising on our independence of decision making. And it is quite funny that steward community is taking decisions on its own, no courtesy is followed to inform local community of changed policies if any ?.While using admin rights user page is not created all this is sad unfortunate and unpleasant.
Sorry for such strong language, we have associated ourselves to this project that notion of free and local level independence being respected. It that not being respected we will not be proud being Wikipedians
@.Mr. Shizhao Please let me no what do we need to have and do that we will not have an iota of interference from meta when not asked for by Marathi WIkipedia community .
Thanks and regards

Why should an English-speaking user in China block an Italian contributor of wikipedia.it ?[edit]

Dear Shizhao

I am EB44, a contributor to wikipedia.it. You blocked my account until October 22. I should like to kindly ask you to unblock.

As per the advise you posted, I read the page on open proxies. Nothing there helps me understand why you blocked me, to the countrary : the page itself warns that such type of block does affect legitimate users even if they are not targeted. If you read that, then the conclusion to draw is to be most cautious before blocking, and avoid doing that. I find it sad that one single user has blocked so many users in so many national versions of wikipedia that that user cannot even read ...

Thanks a lot for your understanding, and hopefully prompt action.

Kind regards

Block[edit]

Today I was blocked by a reason of "open proxy", possibly by you. I requested for unblock and a few minutes later I was unblocked, but then while editing I was blocked again. I do not know the meaning of "open proxy", but I have to say that I don't know what I did to deserve such a block. The block is for about 2 years and this is not very funny. Obviously you do this a lot, according to your user talk page. I will request for unblock again and hopefully will not receive similar messages again. Thank you. Using an open proxy[edit]

Dear Shizhao,

Wikipedia was blocked in Bahrain (a tiny island in the Persian gulf) today, thus I was unable to edit any articles, because I can only open Wikipedia from an open proxy. Take a look at this picture.

Is it possible to allow my account to edit articles from an open proxy? thanks. Bahraini Activist 10:29, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Declined // unrelated[edit]

Hey, Shizhao. Was this request 'declined' or 'unrelated'? I see that is was marked as "done" and you changed your right on pt.wiktionary, so I suppose it is unrelated. Can you confirm that, please? Thanks.” Teles (T @ L C S) 23:06, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Um... I don't get it. If it was declined, why did you mark that as 'done' and why did you change your rights to checkuser on pt.wikt?” Teles (T @ L C S) 01:51, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I think I understand now. I always thought that a declined request is that one that does not bring enough reason to perform a check, so the steward refuses to make the check. If there is enough reason, the request is accepted and check is done. You considered the arguments on that request enough to perform a check and that is why it was 'done', correct? So, it should be marked as 'done' as Striker got an answer from you. As you said it was declined, some might believe that the verification was 'not done', because of lack of reason to perform it. Maybe that is why it was marked as 'not done' later. I think that there isn't a checkuser template that fits with that kind of answer. Thank you kindly.” Teles (T @ L C S) 02:29, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
