Before posting here[edit]

Please list the specific projects that you need to be renamed in under your request, unless you are requesting a global rename.

How to add an entry here[edit]

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here

Making a request for your own account[edit]

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests[edit]

Requests that need to be made in private should be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Simple rename requests[edit]

If your rename request is simple and does not involve usurpation of an existing account or other SUL issues, you have two options:

  1. Use the request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Submit the request below in this section.

Please use this tool to check if the username is taken before filing a request.

@JzG: The username "❻" is not allowed to prevent confusing or spoofed usernames: Contains unassigned character "❻" (U+277B). Please choose another username. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 09:56, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

Requests involving merges, usurps or other complications[edit]

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username and requests should be signed by the requesting user.
Please note: Per standard procedure, accounts with valid edits are not usurped, and the target account must be notified at least one month before usurpation.

Looks usurpable to me. Time2wait.svg On hold for one month (until 2018-10-18) just in case they reply to the usurpation notice. Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:17, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

  • @Nihlus: Yes I saw that, but if they gonna use it as doppelganger account, what's the problem? @Amitie 10g: Are your intentions is to use that account for any type of editing, specifically on commons? because doppelganger accounts aren't used for editing. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 10:20, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
  • The problem is that they are indefinitely blocked on a project and would be seemingly making another account that would not be blocked. I would only feel comfortable doing this if the Commons community approved it (with or without blocking the doppelganger account). Nihlus 10:34, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
  • @1997kB and Nihlus: Actually, my intentios is to avoid impersonation (specially from some globally blocked user), so, just block the account at Commons, as I'll not use it for editing in any projects (except Meta for my doppelganger user account). --Amitie 10g (talk) 14:09, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
  • As stated above, I would only feel comfortable doing this if the Commons community approved it. I suggest you start by bringing it to their attention first; otherwise it may be seen as sockpuppeting. Nihlus 14:31, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

Just for the record, I made a similar request some time ago and had it rejected because I am too blocked indefinitely on the English Wikipedia. --{{subst:User:Fire in the Hole/sign}} 22:52, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
