- This is the part of a series of community consultation pages. The WMF Community Advocacy team has put together a list at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/2016_Strategy/Translations. We're hoping to launch the consultation on January 18th. Realizing getting all translations in place before the launch of the consultation may not be possible (and that people will likely help with translations after the launch), I'd be really grateful for any assistance especially that you can give in translating the templates at that Meta page link, like this one. It'll probably be harder for casual translators to help out with those!

- Text should be stable at this point. I've just made what I hope will be the last modification to those pages!

You are vadalizing categories that have been merged since years. All pages by languages are suffixed by their language, as tey use the interlanguage page. This does not mean that they are necessarily translaterd, but all pages in the same language appear in the same category.
You have recreated an empty category specific for Italian which is non-sense. There are no longer any category such as "IT", all main categories for a language are rooted in "Categories/lang".
Really your edit was made by breaking a consesnsus adopted since long and that was never contested. These categories were unified and the older names preperly redirected. You've broken this and abused the revert mechanism: YUOU are vandalizing by creating incoherent categories that are no longer navigatablme with the common interlanguage bar ! verdy_p (talk) 18:10, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In fact you do not realize how the older category you want to restore were misused completely in lots of languages, and there were not just one but multiple categoriation schemes for language (e.g. for Italian there were "Categories/it" "Transalte it", "Italian", "Italiano" and even all page related to Italy (in any language) were mixed.
With the generalisation of the languages bar and the translate extension it was necessary to adopt a single naming scheme (using language code suffixes after a common base name) And it was no longer necessary to use tempaltes with #ifexist or to maintain list of links for every language in which a page was translated. All categories for a new language are now created in a single click. Every langue benefits of the same categization scheme and all of them support the same options, plus they support language fallbacks for missing translations.
Some old pages with low trafic, kept only for historic purpose but not maintained, have not all been recategorized due to lack of interest, but all these older categories have now the same parent "Categories/xx". But since this unification there are MANY MANY more translations available on this wiki, with more translators contributing and they know where to place their content. They don't have to wonder how to name their pages constistantly for all links to work correctly. Various systems including old translation requests have been deprecated, now each page can have its own translation request tracked by the translation extension where it is used: there's a single link above the languages bar to do it and see transaltion progresses. We no longer need to manually maintain these requests. But all untranslated pages may be translated at any time without needing specific recategorization.
The translation system is very active and its has many subscribers (just look above on this page for some requests I receive).
The same system is also deployed on other multilingual wikis, including Commons, Meta-Wiki, MediaWiki, and other non wikimedia projects, because it simplifies maintenance a lot. verdy_p (talk) 19:56, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, the "Special:MyLanguage/" were not wrong at all (special pages are not case sensitive so it is equivalent to "Special:Mylanguage/" or to "special:mylanguage/"), except for one link where I added it (thinking it was a local wiki page) which is not on this wiki, but uses an interwiki prefix to go to the "creativecommons:" site: isn't there a way to point to the localized version? If not, this link should not be in a tvar but should be part of the translation to generate the correct link to Creative Commons, if it has translations there! verdy_p (talk) 01:31, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

instead of
creativecommons:by-sa/4.0/legalcode.
This licence is supposed to be international, including its officialized translations that we should be pointing to, instead of linking only to their English version.
For now CC BY SA 4.0 is officially available in Indonesian (id), English (en), Norwegian (no), Finnish (fi), Maori (mi), Ukrainian (uk), and Japanese (ja). verdy_p (talk) 01:36, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
