Welcome to the meta portal for Wiki Loves Children (WLC) is an annual online event that aims to promote Children content in Wikipedia. Each participating local community runs an online Edit-a-thon every November, which promotes the creation or improvement of the Wikipedia content about children. |

یونیسیف کے مطابق دنیا کے آدھے سے زیادہ بچے شدید تشدد کا شکار ہیں۔ ایک اندازے کے مطابق ان میں سے ۶۴ فیصد بچے جنوبی ایشیا میں ہیں۔ اسی مضمون میں، انہوں نے یہ بھی واضح کیا کہ نہ صرف متاثرہ کے لیے بلکہ تشدد کا مشاہدہ کرنے والے ہر شخص کے لیے، تشدد سے نمٹنے کا بہترین طریقہ اسے روکنا ہے۔ لیکن یہ قابل ذکر ہے کہ ایک انسائیکلوپیڈیا کے حصے کے طور پر بنائی، بچوں کے ساتھ زیادتی اور ویکیپیڈیا کمیونٹیز کو نظرانداز کرنے کے لیے کوئی پہل نہیں کی گئی۔ چنانچہ پہلی بار ہم بنگالی ویکیپیڈیا اور وکی بکس پر وکی لوز چلڈرن کا اہتمام کر رہے ہیں۔ دیگر ویکی بکس کی طرح بنگالی ویکی بکس میں بچوں کے لیے ایک پروجیکٹ ہے جسے وکی جونیئر کہا جاتا ہے، لیکن فی الحال تقریبا غیر فعال ہے۔ لہذا، ہم نے اسے پراجیکٹ میں شامل کیا ہے جس کا مقصد جونیئر طلباء کے لیے آن لائن سیکھنے کی سرگرمیوں میں اس کے استعمال کو وسعت اور وسعت دینا ہے۔ خاص طور پر کوویڈ ۱۹ وبائی دور کے دوران یہ آن لائن سیکھنے میں اہم کردار ادا کر سکتا ہے اور ہم کوشش کریں گے کہ ویکی بکس (خاص طور پر وکی جونیئر) کو وکی پیڈیا کا بچوں کے لیے دوستانہ متبادل بنائیں۔ Yet, despite the global reach and educational influence of Wikipedia and its sister projects, there has been no coordinated initiative within the Wikimedia movement to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect. To address this gap, we are launching a new campaign — Wiki Loves Children — starting from Bengali Wikipedia and Bengali Wikibooks. This initiative will focus on creating and improving content related to child safety, rights, health, and development. A key part of the campaign is the revival of Wikijunior, the child-focused branch of Wikibooks, which has remained mostly inactive in Bengali. By breathing new life into Wikijunior, we aim to build a child-friendly, educational platform that supports online learning for children, especially in the post-Covid era where digital education is more critical than ever. While this project begins on Bengali Wikipedia and Wikibooks, our long-term vision is to expand Wiki Loves Children across other Wikimedia projects and into multiple languages, based on community interest and regional importance. Through collaboration, we hope to make Wikimedia a safer, more inclusive, and empowering space for younger audiences around the world. |
