Coordination with other Igbo activities[edit]

I have some trouble understanding how all this is connected to the numerous past grants for Igbo activities. Although each grant has been rather small and has had probably high impact (judging from some Wiktionary outputs), when we start talking about 10 k$ I think it's time to clarify what reflection has happened on which methods work best etc.

To reduce risk and increase learning, skill sharing and institutional memory, it also seems about time that the grantees come together in some sort of incorporated entity through which the money can be disbursed. Currently it's very hard even just to list all the various Igbo activities because they're conducted under a number of different names. Nemo 13:06, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question on training and teacher participation[edit]

Dear team,

Thank you for sharing this proposal! My name is Melissa Guadalupe Huertas and I work with the Education team at the WMF. I had a couple of quick questions regarding your project's implementation. If I understand correctly, your proposal includes two training events for teachers and other two for students, which will lead to a contest, and budget for the organization of editathons as a reward. First, I'm wondering if there is a training curriculum or past workshop experiences that will inform this training for the selected education actors. I'm also wondering if you have assessed the interest and capacity of the teachers to attend such workshops and conduct the following activities that are required of them, and if not what do you think will facilitate their participation and engagement considering other academic responsibilities they have in place. Thank you in advance for your kind reply! --MGuadalupe (WMF) (talk) 19:08, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MGuadalupe (WMF),

Thank you for your questions. About the training curriculum, the project team will develop a module for the training with the help of some successful projects and materials in meta and dashboard.

We have organised workshops where we trained people to edit and translate articles in Igbo Wikipedia, but we have not trained educators in the past. For assessing the interest and capacity of the teachers, we have had contact with three of the lecturers in the proposed college, and they are very interested and can participate effectively.
