Remove the fade-in animation from the POTY central notice

Could someone please remove the animation from the POTY central notice? It's rather distracting, happens every time the banner is loaded, and doesn't really improve things in any way. The large banner is attention-grabbing enough without the animation. wctaiwan (talk) 04:30, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

I've raised this at Commons instead. wctaiwan (talk) 06:51, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes check.svg Removed, per your request.  ono  15:15, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you very much. :) wctaiwan (talk) 04:58, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Central Notice

Hello all! Wikimedia India, in association with Creative Commons is orgabising several workshops across India. Wanted to put up CentralNotice for the same. -- ♪Karthik♫ ♪Nadar♫ 19:10, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

CentralNotice fixing

Would any admin please refresh Korean translation of Fundraising 2012/Translation/Landing Page and Banner messages? I do fix completely strange translation. It printed out "₩5000 달러" and means $5000 xDD It must be fixed as "₩5000" or "5000원". Thank you for helping! --Sotiale (talk) 05:20, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Expired temp. adminship

Please remove my admin flag per Meta:Requests for adminship/PiRSquared17 (temp). I have already completed the "goal" of my adminship (to set CentralNotice translations for the steward elections). Thank you. πr2 (tc) 01:17, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for helping. Best regards. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 14:13, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Needs updating

Please update [1]! I would do it, but my temp. adminship expired. πr2 (tc) 18:14, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Looks resolved. Thanks. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:24, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Also, please do the Assamese translation and the Guarani one. Please also consider this response: should the last translation be reverted to the old one? However, I think we can just leave the mt (Maltese) translations like they currently are. Thank you in advance! πr2 (t • c) 03:38, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Done, if I managed to do the right stuff in this confusing interface. --MF-W 13:25, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. It looks fine. πr2 (t • c) 19:05, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Importing commons:Special:PrefixIndex/Mediawiki:lang/ to get {int:lang} to work

On Commons and Wikidata, the code {{int:lang}} outputs the language code of the user's language. This is possible because of the many Mediawiki pages here, and it allows for templates like d:Template:LangSwitch. Here on Meta, only a few languages work with that, because most of those pages don't exist here. Would it be possible for an admin to import those pages, to allow for {{LangSwitch}} to work here for more languages? --Yair rand (talk) 19:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

One simple way to do this would be to use Special:Import on a page that transcludes all of these pages and check the "Include all templates" box. (I'm not positive this will work.) --Yair rand (talk) 20:09, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
The only risk with importing is flooding RC, no harm. However, let's please consider this Time2wait.svg On hold until we get an opinion by Patrick: we already have plenty of translation systems here on Meta and current status might be an intentional choice. It would also be useful if you could clarify what's the expected usage you want to do and why you can't use other systems, thanks. --Nemo 21:04, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
There aren't really other systems for translation that work well. Sure, there's Meta:Language select, but I don't think anyone would want to use that on {{Support}}, {{Tracked}}, {{Channel}}, or {{on hold}}. --Yair rand (talk) 21:48, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
We usually call template subpages directly or with templates which fetch the page's language, rather than the user's. By the way with the Translate extension we need some more thinking on this. The import of the int trick is very easy to do but has non-trivial technical implications. --Nemo 22:11, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
What are the technical implications of importing these pages? Or is the issue using this method of translation?
It's frequently the case that the page's language isn't very helpful. This is a multilingual wiki, but anyone who doesn't speak English can't find out what the contents of the {{se-vote}}s ("(Eligible, checked by XX)", etc) mean. --Yair rand (talk) 13:49, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

In 2010 I created the few pages currently in Special:PrefixIndex/Mediawiki:lang/, importing them all would be fine. - Patrick (talk) 20:37, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Yes check.svg Done per Patrick. --Nemo 20:09, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. --Yair rand (talk) 21:20, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

80686 edit war

80686 is attempting to shut down a discussion regarding an inaccurate and defamatory comment made against me on a page that tens or hundreds of people will view after reading the Signpost or during the election. I believe that I have the right to defend myself against such inaccuracies. 80686 has decided to shut down the discussion: Who gave him the authority to shut down Meta discussions? --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 20:03, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

As a WCA Council Member I am taking the freedom to request an end to this episode in an inappropriate place. We have accepted comments from various people for a while and it is due that this discussion ends. It has nothing to do with the WCA Chair election, nothing with WCA, not even with Meta. The issue needs to be discussed where it has been occurred. I think we (WCA) have been tolerant enough to accept this discussion from happening so we need to make an end of it now if we don't want the discussion to take over the actual topic at hand: Our Chair election.
The revert has nothing to do with the user or comment in particular, it just occured after a clear warning that this discussion must be ended now and therefore is, consequently, being reverted to enforce an end of this distraction. --Manuel Schneider(bla) (+/-) 20:14, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
I have blocked both users for edit warring. We got better things to do than trivial edit wars on WCA pages. Snowolf How can I help? 20:18, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
