Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

Request for mass message sender right in Meta

[edit]

I am from Bangla Wikipedia and part of the technical team for the recently launched Signpost on our wiki. As a member of the editorial board, I am requesting MassMessage sender rights for myself and for the Chief Editor, User:খাত্তাব হাসান, to facilitate the distribution of this newsletter across our community.

Thank you for considering our request.

Best regards, R1F4T (talk) 16:49, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Do you really need Global Mass Message Sender, as opposed to local rights, for this? * Pppery * it has begun 19:47, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Noting that I declined Steward requests/Permissions#R1F4T@bnwikipedia as a request for local mass message sender rights, as bnwiki has no local mass message sender group, thus likely why this request came. EPIC (talk) 20:40, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Please link to an target list you have built. — xaosflux Talk 21:02, 11 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have renamed the section, and Rifat and I request that right to automatically send news to Bengali sister projects (Village pump or similar page). খাত্তাব হাসান (talk) 08:04, 12 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Request for MassMessage sender user rights

[edit]

Hello! My name is Mohammed Kamal-Deen Fuseini and I am currently volunteering as the Outreach and Partnership Manager for the Wiki Loves Ramadan campaign. I will like to send mass messages to different users and hereby request the rights to be able to use the massmessage service. I look forward to your support and approval.

Best regards Dnshitobu (talk) 16:56, 14 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Xaosflux and AramilFeraxa:, could you grant him mass message sender for two years. For the team, Project lead. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:15, 18 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Please point to a target list you will use. — xaosflux Talk 22:27, 18 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

old rfc

[edit]

Is there someone uninvolved that can look at closure for Meta:Requests for comment/Change to WMF staff user rights policy? It is a year old. — xaosflux Talk 16:00, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also Requests for comment/GFDL to CC License Migration of files (matter is resolved).
Requests for comment/Untrue block reason demage my reputation (closed by non-admin, also, please add date=20160212090500 in the template.)
Talk:Requests_for_comment/Large-scale_errors_at_Malagasy_Wiktionary#Outcome is probably not an admin matter. Possibly the RfC can be closed too. e 14:01, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

{{Section resolved|Someone closed (no consensus) — xaosflux Talk 14:34, 21 January 2025 (UTC)}}Reply

The other 3 still need to be dealt with. e 14:38, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Checkmark This section is resolved and can be archived. If you disagree, replace this template with your comment. Those are global RFC's and not part of my request, this seciton does not need to be expanded to more things - especially things that aren't normally handed by local admins. — xaosflux Talk 14:47, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please remove MMS and TA

[edit]

Hi, please remove MMS and TA permissions from the following WMDE accounts:

Both no longer work for WMDE. Thanks and best regards! Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 15:31, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Partly done MMS removed. Michaels TA needs to be removed by a crat. TenWhile6 15:32, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Donexaosflux Talk 15:49, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Johannes Richter (WMDE) can these accounts be globally locked? In the past this was done for other ex-WMDE employees. See the account list. Apparently WMF Trust and Safety regularly reviews the lists of their staff. Requests for locks can be done at Steward requests/Global. e 16:29, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I guess a user who holds steward permissions with his voluntary account knows very well how to request locks at SRG. SCNR. --TenWhile6 17:42, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Wasn't aware of that, but apparently he doesn't have time to do it himself.
In any case, it's better that an official WMDE account is told about the WMF Trust and Safety approach. e 18:22, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
WMDE knows how the WMF is handling their accounts, but takes a different approach. Note that I'm not responsible for handling WMDE accounts in general. I just submitted this request for two former members of my team to make sure there are no inactive WMDE accounts with such permissions. Opt out the Simple English Wikipedia from global filter 131

[edit]

As the section title says, on the Simple English Wikipedia we have filter 48 that now disallows new and anonymous users from blanking articles. Because of this, I would suggest modifying the last line of filter 131 (!equals_to_any(wiki_name, "dewiki", "nlwiki", "simplewiki")). Thank you. Request for page deletion + block

[edit]

Hi, not sure I'm in the right place, but I want to request deletion of a userpage, https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Rosy99966, which is used for advertising escort services (via the link there) and, I suppose, a block of the user. Bishonen (talk) 21:48, 21 January 2025 (UTC).Reply

@Bishonen, deleted, thanks for reporting. Please use {{Speedy|advertisement}} next time if you want to request quick deletion. Best regards, TenWhile6 21:51, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
