Tok Pisin Wiktionary and Wikipedia

I request sysop access - both these projects are moribund and in need of revitalisation. There is only one temporary sysop on each (K. Kellogg-Smith, see below); I would like to assist in sysop duties and I believe a sysop fluent in Tok Pisin would be useful in each case. Both projects are in need of significant cleanup and removal of vandalism.

There is much work that needs to be done on the Tok Pisin Wikipedia and Wiktionary, and Matt Andrews is exceptionally well qualified by both background and experience to help out with that work.  As a sysop/administrator he will be able to drill down through the namespaces to revise/reorganize the many development and permanent files, and in particular, work with the TPI MediaWiki pages to translate the navigation, community, and toolbox legends from English to Tok Pisin.  Matt has come up with some very good ideas and suggestions on the WikiProject Melanesia talk pages about how to improve the two TPI Wikis.  Doing development work on new/revised TPI Wikis requires the ability to experiment with and save pages in the various namespaces, then to delete any pages that prove unsatisfactory or unnecessary.  It takes a lot of time to review and analyze the work that's already been done on the two Wikis, and Matt would certainly be a very big help in moving the project along. Icelandic Wikiquote

I request bureaucrat rights on the Icelandic Wikiquote. There is literally no community (no active user), so there has not been any vote in the village pump (which I only created yesterday). There are three sysops, none of which is currently active on the Icelandic Wikiquote (although two are very active on the Icelandic Wikipedia).

I am myself a sysop and a bureaucrat on the Icelandic Wikipedia (user page: w:is:Notandi:Cessator) and a registered user there since september 2005. Bureaucrat status on the Icelandic Wikiquote would give me all the necessary means of a sysop in addition to making the Icelandic Wikiquote self sufficient. I would be happy to distribute sysop rights rather freely to active users who show themselves to be responsible and reliable, especially until things get rolling; and I would be happy to let users borrow credibility accross syster projest e.g. from the Icelandic Wikipedia (no reason to suspect that well established users on one project will be vandals on another project).

Oversight access

There are revisions on different pages on Fa Wikipedia which contain personal information about a user, who have recently request all his personal information to be removed from page histories. I am a sysop there, and have discussed the matter with a local bureaucrat as well. I can hide them if I'm given temporary Oversight access. Effeietsanders has cleared it to me on the IRC, that if this task is going to be done, it should be done by a steward. He also was not sure if this is going to be done at all. As I mentioned to him, the only thing that made us think it is not enough to confine ourselves to deleting the revisions (hiding them from the public) was the involvement of one of the sysops in the problem. Nevertheless, I agree with him that if other stewards also think of this task as unnecessary, we are not going to do this. Others' comments are appreciated. Huji 21:21, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Wikibooks Alemannics

cu at arabic wikipedia

i request the removal of cu access at arwiki. it's a small project that meta can offer any cu info when needed. i think sockpuppets were used in getting the 25 cu votes, those in the know don't want to answer simple questions, private ips (see history of User:Azdiyy/checkuser) contrary to cu policy are there for everyone to see, and some ar cus don't appear to have the common sense necessary to interpret cu results if i assume good faith. when user:Chaos wants to have his cu back but doesnt care about claims here something i think is wrong. user:Alnokta just archived his talkpage while user:Mido ignored them. i also think we have socks as admins and some are trying to cover it up. meta help is needed to make some info available when cu can be carried out here rather than at arwp. considering that one ar sysop claimed the positive cu was due to an evil roommate who registered shortly after his block to carry on his edit wars, and another sockpuppet claimed unspeakable attacks were due to an easy password, and noting that one ar sysop said that creating 10 sockpuppets *OK* and no one objected, i don't think cu is any use for ar wp. see also talk pages of former admins user:Aram33 and user:Classic 971 who also appears to be behind ar sysop user:Menasim. many thanks. --الأزدي 10:04, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Uyghur Wikipedia

I would like administrative access to the Uyghur wikipedia for the User Arken. There is only one other admin, and he claims to no little or no Uyghur.

Two other things that I think need help from a different place also need to be done. Can anybody redirect me to where I could ask about adding extra tabs as was done in the Kazakh Wikipedia (see kk.wikipedia.org). Also, we don't call our language: Oyghurque, where can I get help changing that.

Ok, but you haven't demonstrated any kind of need for someone to be made sysop temporarily, without community endorsement. In order for this to be granted, we need a compelling reason. If there is no specific, urgent need for this, I would ask that you seek community approval for your intended status, and once you obtain it, we can grant you permanent access. Account usurpation on kab.wikipedia.org

Kabyle Wikipedia was recently created, but there is one person which has already got the idea to:

  1. create there an account with my username,
  2. build pages as if they were created by the real Hégésippe Cormier,
  3. and has probably the idea, later, to make some vandal actions with that account.

The probability that this person is already known is very high: some false accounts of this kind were already created, for example fot the account Zyxwvut-Bot on Napolitan Wikipedia, etc. My requests are:

  1. make a check-user investigation (account creation and pages are not so old) in order to know the IP address(es) used for those bad actions and give the informations,
  2. rename the account 'Hégésippe Cormier' on kab.wikipedia.org, for example as 'Former usurpated account', and then block the renamed account,
  3. delete the false pages w:kab:User:Hégésippe Cormier and w:kab:User talk:Hégésippe Cormier (or the renamed pages and the possible redirects staying in the former pages),
  4. allow me to create the real 'Hégésippe Cormier' account on kab.wikipedia.org.

Import group

Hey, I am en:User:TheFearow, and I am requesting that I am temporarily added to the "import" group on mediawiki.org. I want to help out with the many pages needing transferral from meta. I assume that I need a stewards help rather than a local bureaucrat, as adding to a diff group requires access to Special:Userrights (and thats steward-only, at least with the defaults on my wiki). I thought Import group was to import XML data, not to import pages from other wikis. Also, a page showing support from the local community is needed. guillom 14:32, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I assume it is for Special:Import, which is a method of transwiki. Also, there isn't really a local community - the community is split between here and there. TheFearow 02:21, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
I know what transwiki import is, I just thought the Import group was only for XML import. Anyway, I have checked and the import group allow you to both import from XML files or through transwiki method. I still wish to see support from people from this wiki.   • "Apêndice:" and "Apêndice Discussão:" (that are correspondings to "Appendix:" and "Appendix talk:" of the English Wiktionary);
  • "Vocabulário:" and "Vocabulário Discussão:" (that are correspondings to "Index:" and "Index talk:" of the English Wiktionary);
  • "Rimas:" and "Rimas Discussão:" (that are correspondings to "Rhymes:" and "Rhymes talk:" of the English Wiktionary);
  • "Portal:" and "Portal Discussão:" (that are correspondings to "Portail:" and "Discussion Portail:" of the French Wiktionary).
