Horizon

Horizon is a URL, where Labs-Projectsadmins can manage their instance, like at wikitech, but the plan is to migrate the settings from wikitech to horizon, so it's very useful to have that interwikilink. Greetings, Luke081515 00:29, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

What's topt-token? —MarcoAurelio 14:44, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
@MarcoAurelio: That's the token for the two-factor authentification. You have to enable 2FA at wikitech first. Greetings, Luke081515 22:06, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
@Luke081515: What tool provides the token? —MarcoAurelio 16:42, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
@MarcoAurelio: Go to Special:Settings at wikitech and click at "activate two-factor authentification" if not enabled yet, scan the QR-Code with your smartphone then (you need a 2FA App like Authy or google auth), and then 2FA is enabled, if you enter the token shown by the app. Then you need to login at horizon and enter the code the app shows to you. But horizon is at the moment only useful for labs project admins, not for tool-labs-tools maintainer. Greetings, Luke081515 18:16, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

Vikidia

The following discussion is closed.

w:Vikidia ( https://www.vikidia.org/ ) is a wiki encyclopedia for children. It is available in several languages although French is the first in date and far most active version, with 22000 articles now. There are also versions in Spanish, Italian, English (about), Catalan and Basque. They would be reachable with a combined prefix such as vikidia:es: (unless the prefix used on Wikipedia can lead to the version on Vikidia on the same language ?) We also have an independant homologous in Dutch : http://wikikids.nl/ with which we share interlanguage links.

Vikidia really has a similar fonctionning and aim as Wikipedia, thought for children. We usually put links on the Wikipedia's mainspace to Vikidia with much caution, still we need it sometimes and we consider doing this some more if appropriate and accepted: we started to present and discuss it here. At last many users are both on the Wikimedia projects and on Vikidia, thus indicate their userpage from one wiki to another.

The content is under the same licenses as Wikipedia.

Support Support, enough links in the top 20. Oddly I never heard about it before. Recently I stumbled over Klexikon-wikispam on dewiki, thanks for your wikikids.nl info. Be..anyone (talk) 05:27, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

SourceForge using HTTPS

Please, change the target URL for SourceForge interwiki from <http://sourceforge.net/$1> to <https://sourceforge.net/$1>.

bibcode

At Harvard University scientific texts are registered.

  • Supposed not to distribute spam, rather reputable site.
  • 11.8 million records covering publications in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and the arXiv e-prints.
  • Free abstracts at least.

Resources are identified by exactly 19 non-spacing ASCII characters.

  • Should appear as URI-style identifiers.
  • See w:en:Bibcode for more details.

HTTPS apparently not supported today.

Scholar

For URLs of the form http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=$1, it appears that Google Scholar generates a 302 redirect to an HTTPS version of the URL. As such it would seem useful to change the URL for the Scholar prefix to //scholar.google.com/scholar?q=$1 or https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=$1 instead in order to facilitate HTTPS access. --Elegie (talk) 06:31, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Enviwiki

Status:    Not done

  • Proposed link: http://www.enviwiki.cz/wiki/$1
  • Proposed prefix: enviwiki: and/or ew:
  • w:cs:Enviwiki (http://www.enviwiki.cz/) is a wiki based educational knowledge base for education of environmental topics and topics of sustainable development. It is mostly oriented on students of pedagogical faculties, but also on high school students. It is operated by w:Charles University in Prague. It is available only in Czech at this moment, with apporx. 850 articles now. More about Enviwiki
  • Enviwiki is running on Mediawiki sw, the content is under the same licenses as Wikipedia.
  • No malware, no spamming. I hope.

PetScan

Status:    Done

The PetScan tool is the successor of the well known CatScan (and CS2) tool.

  • There are thousands of CatScan links in many wikis for maintenance purposes.
  • Starting mid of 2016 they are supposed to be migrated in PetScan links (URL parameters are kept and supported); therefore all current links will be touched now. IW format should be made available soon, permitting easy URL fix if petscan changes domain again one day.
  • Since petscan.wmflabs.org is a subdomain on its own and not residing within tools.wmflabs.org as of toollabs: interwiki, the latter cannot be used.

PMID

PMID is currently one of the "magic" links supported by the MediaWiki software. Those are being deprecated and phased out per mw:Requests for comment/Future of magic links. The replacement for RFC and PMID is going to be interwiki links, so PMID needs to be added to the interwiki map. Thanks, Legoktm (talk) 03:16, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

zero.wikimedia.org

Could you please add an interwiki prefix for zero.wikimedia.org? I suggest the zero: prefix. Thanks in advance, Guycn2 · 22:31, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

I do not think this would be useful. The zero wiki is private and is only used by developers and partner organizations. There are not any links to it from meta or the top 20 content wikis. I asked a Zero team member, who agreed that it would not be useful. So Oppose Oppose unless there's a use-case we've all missed. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 21:53, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
@Quiddity (WMF): There are links to it (I wouldn't ask to create this interwiki prefix if it was not linked from anywhere).
See for example mw:MediaWiki 1.28/Roadmap that has links to the zero wiki. Guycn2 · 04:00, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
@Guycn2: Are there any links to pages on the wiki? If there are only links to the domain, then that doesn't really benefit from a interwiki link, and might confuse editors if they were to see one being used (or in the table of supported interwiki links). Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 16:55, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
There are no links to certain pages, but as a Wikimedia wiki I think it definitely should have an interwiki prefix. Guycn2 · 20:38, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Not done there are no deep links, and it is not a standard wiki; if/when there is a need we can do it, staff will let us know of their needs pretty quickly.

Wikimedia sites to HTTPS

Please change all Wikimedia wikis (*.wikimedia.org and other ones like oldwikisource, rev, etc) in this map to use HTTPS. Two reasons:

  1. It is no longer possible to access Wikimedia sites using HTTP, so it's redundant to make these URLs protocol-relative.
  2. The transwiki import process always expands protocol-relative URLs to use the HTTP protocol. Some of the interwiki prefixes in this map are used as import sources by some wikis, so it is currently impossible to perform imports from those wikis. See phab:T140209 for details.
