WikiConference India 2016 updates[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for signing up as a volunteer for WikiConference India 2016 (WCI 2016). Here are some updates regarding the event:

WCI 2016 will take place on 5th, 6th, and 7th of August 2016 at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran (Mohali). Please save these dates. We will open conference registration soon.

PEG request for WCI 2016 has been approved. We appreciate WMF PEG team's support and decision in facilitating this. We thank all community members who endorsed and contributed to this initiative. We are excited and look forward to an intensive month planning and executing WCI 2016.

Phase 1 filtering of scholarship applications has been done. Among 450+ applications, 200+ applications have been shortlisted for final review. We are expecting to announce the results by July first week.

WCI 2016 Call for Participation is open now. Please submit your proposals for paper presentations, lightning talks, and workshops.

Please take WCI 2016 Program Survey and help us design the conference based on community's needs.

Please initiate and participate in the Punjab edit-a-thon. It is a gift from all Indian language communities for the Punjabi community which is hosting the conference. The community that adds most number of bytes or words will be awarded a trophy.

Please review our conference Code of Conduct.

Please place any feedback regarding the event at the meta talk page. You can also join us for the weekly IRC sessions we hold every Wednesday and Saturday at 2130 IST at #wikiconferenceindia channel. You may also find frequent updates through our Facebook group and mailing list.

Sindhi Wikipedia & Wiktionary and interface links[edit]

So, what you should really do for a long-term solution is to file a Phabricator ticket where you describe exactly what you need done – what links you're missing and want added. Or you can tell me and I'll do it (but please ping me when you respond). Another alternative that would go faster but not work as well would be to get one of your admins to add mw:ResourceLoader/Modules#addPortletLink to your general javascript page, which you could get guidance for if they don't know how to do it. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 17:43, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is also another thing missing, in other wikis theres is a line "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" at the beginning of any article but in our wiki it is missing. Furthermore, our Wikipedia edition had good fonts 6-7 months earlier now there are no any attractive fonts. While, Sindhi Wiktionary still has those fonts. Sandbox (Sindhi:مشق پٽي), this link should be in the user options(i.e. Log out)
Contents (Sindhi:فھرستون), this link should be in sidebar.
Featured Content (Sindhi:نمايان مواد), this link should also be in sidebar.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Sindhi:وڪيپيڊيا کان، کليل ڄاڻ انسائيڪلوپيڊيا), this line should be placed under title of any page. As for now, this line is missing both in Sindhi Wikipedia and Wiktionary.

Moreover, I also request for font issue to be solved. I hope for a huge cooperation from your side. However, you are not forced to do all the things immediately, you can do things at your ease. Thank you.--مھتاب احمد (talk) 15:41, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Johan (WMF): Once again thanks, I will try to participate there in Phabricator. Johan when you visit Sindhi Wikipedia and Sindhi Wiktionary you will come to know that fonts (Text style, like Times New Roman, arial etc.) at Sindhi Wikipedia are not appealing but at Sindhi Wiktionary you will see some good quality fonts.
