The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. If you’re an active Wikimedian, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.

More information, and registration details, at QW2021.--Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group 15:47, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

On smart rollback[edit]

Hi QueerEcofeminist, I saw your comment on User talk:Hoo man/Scripts/Smart rollback. No offense at all but Hoo man's not very responsive to requests on his scripts, so I thought my Selective Rollback might come in handy for you. Just a casual recommendation. I hope this helps. --Dragoniez (talk) 07:21, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

thanks for heads up, let me try and see your script. I will get back to you once i have tried it. QueerEcofeminist [they/them/their] 09:55, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

MediaWiki templates on zh-min-nan Wikisource[edit]

Hello, I'm writing to you because you are listed on the active user list of the zh-min-nan Wikisource and are also a member of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team.

I've recently been contributing to the zh-min-nan Wikisource (I'm not a fluent speaker of that language, but work with texts in one of its dialects). However, there are some MediaWiki templates that have not yet been set up on that Wiki, although they are important to the functionality of the source transcription interface, namely MediaWiki:Proofreadpage_index_template and MediaWiki:Proofreadpage_pagenum_template. Here's one of the wiki pages where you can see one of the missing template redlinked: [1]. If you click through to the source scan index page, you'll see that the pagelist is not displayed: [2]

It appears that advanced permissions are required to set up these templates, but the only administrator listed on that wiki has never made any edits, according to the logs I can see, so I'm not sure if they were ever active. Also, almost all the pages there are not linked to source scans, which could explain why this functionality has not been missed thus far.

Could you please point me to the right persons who could help with setting up the MediaWiki templates? Thanks! Kbseah (talk) 18:45, 20 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Kbseah, https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_sysops/Requests this is the page where you should make a request for admin action. They will help you. Thanks QueerEcofeminist🌈 06:44, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Queering Wikipedia 2023 conference[edit]

Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group and the organizing team of Queering Wikipedia is delivering the Queering Wikipedia 2023 Conference for LGBT+ Wikimedians and allies, as a hybrid, bilingual and trans-local event. It is online on 12, 14 and 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia #IDAHOBIT, with offline events at around 10 locations on 5 continents in the 5-day span as QW2023 Nodes.

The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.

If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so. Our working languages are English and Spanish, with possible local language support at sites of Nodes.

Registration for the online event is free and is open until Wednesday May 10th at 18:00 UTC, for safety protocol. Late event registration approval and event access denial is at the discretion of organizers.

More information, and registration details, may be found on Meta at QW2023

Hi @QueerEcofeminist, today, I accidentally managed to globally lock your account. I'd like to apologize for that mistake. All the best for 2024, Martin Urbanec (talk) 21:38, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Martin Urbanec I am curious what made you lock me? And something like locking a account doesn't happen by a single click. There must be some misunderstanding? QueerEcofeminist🌈 19:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was a honest mistake on my end, which was fortunately quickly noticed and remedied. As to how it happened: Stewards often have a bunch of Special:CentralAuth windows opened at the same time (and once you're at Special:CentralAuth, locking that account literally takes two clicks). I accidentally submitted the lock form when I had your CentralAuth opened instead of the one of my intended target. I hope that clarifies. Best, Martin Urbanec (talk) 20:26, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Martin Urbanec, fine I have no panic or harsh feelings for mistakes by myself or anyone else. Thanks for the clarification and it's interesting fact that stewards keep track of my account (as you were looking at my central auth for some other reasons too.) Thanks again. QueerEcofeminist🌈 08:07, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your feedback is requested[edit]

Hello QueerEcofeminist, We are conducting a poll of global renamers and stewards regarding some future toolings related to some rename requests. Your feedback is requested at the poll on VRT WIKI. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 00:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Info on rename[edit]

Hi QueerEcofeminist, please note that this request reports a potential account compromise. In these cases, it is better to put the request on hold and ask for support from a steward/local CU (also because you don't know if the request is made by the account's owner). Thanks :) Superpes15 (talk) 11:16, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Superpes15, sorry but I am unable to identify how this was problematic request which I need to skip? Can you just elaborate? And I already processed it so, probably waiting for action from others is something I can do. QueerEcofeminist🌈 16:06, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
The user said they received a login notification via a new device that they didn't recognize, so decide to change username (which is not a security measure as changing password). Potential compromised accounts are generally locked waiting for understanding what happened, so it's better not to rename them even with the slightest suspicion (also because you can't know if the person making the request is the one who compromised the account). Thanks! Superpes15 (talk) 12:08, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Superpes15, right, now I understand the problem, I will remember this. Will notify the capable users from now onwards . QueerEcofeminist🌈 16:39, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks and sorry for not being so clear! Note that this should be done only when the user talk about an actual login (and not an unsuccessful login or a login attempt) :) Superpes15 (talk) 17:38, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
