Wikipedia Asian Month 2017 officially starts!
[edit]Dear WAM organizer,
I’m Erick Guan, the coordinator of WAM 2017. Welcome to Wikipedia Asian Month 2017. Here is some information about organizations of events at a national level.
Timeline
[edit]The event lasts a month for the participants. As of the beginning of the event, please:
- Invite previous participants to join. We have a template you may want to use.
- Setup your WAM page in your local wikiproject if you haven’t done that.
- Link your WAM page at Wikipedia Asian Month 2017. It’s important for others to understand and connect to your community! Remove the X when you done that. WAM is organized at national level. So I have to ask you to put your country in front of your name if you haven’t done that.
- Publish a notification about WAM in site notice as well as village pump. Go public!
- Connect with us. Generally send me an email so that we can reach you for future information!
- Become the jury member in a campaign on Fountain which is an amazing tool for you to supervise participants’ articles. If you don’t have the campaign set up, please contact us! And put a link to your community’s campaign page for participants’ navigation.
- Organize a off-site editathon event. A coffee bar, internet and laptops. Though it’s optional. If you want to do that, please contact me.
In the following days, you should answer the questions from your community and supervise the submissions. Hope you have fun!
Interesting articles

Invitation to affiliate members to complete a survey about WMF wide Universal Code of Conduct
[edit]Hello; My name is Mervat, and I am helping the Trust and Safety team to reach out to affiliates in order to discuss the Universal Code of Conduct.
There has been talks about the need for a global set of conduct rules in different communities over time, and finally, Wikimedia Foundation Board announced a Community Culture Statement, enacting new standards to address harassment and promote inclusivity across projects.Since the universal code of conduct that will be a binding minimum set of standards across all Wikimedia projects, will apply to all of us, staff and volunteers alike, all around the globe, and will impact our work as groups, individuals and projects, it’s of great importance that we all participate in expressing our opinions and thoughts about UCoC, its nature, what we think it should cover or include and what it shouldn’t include; how it may develop, drawback or help our groups. This is the time to talk about it. As you are a valuable contributor to the Wikimedia movement, your voice counts.
Before starting to draft the code of conduct, we would like to hear from you; We invite you to devote some minutes to take this survey; your answers will help us create a safer environment for all on Wikimedia: (English): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd36dNdU3C5shXEkKp9itJOhuCTx9hZE5AE-xflkxtfRMnZtg/viewform?usp=pp_url
It’s possible that you are a member of more than one affiliate; hence you may receive this survey more than once, and you may have participated previously in the discussions or filled out a previous survey during the first round of consultations about UCoC which targeted wikipedia/wikimedia communities. We apologize for this; it is really difficult to identify if a wikimedian belongs to multiple groups that work to spread free knowledge.
Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions and hoping that you can respond within the next 2 weeks. If you have any questions about the surveys or difficulties accessing the link, please contact me by email (msalman-ctr@wikimedia.org).
Results will be considered during the drafting process for the UCoC.
Thank you for your participation

Please don't, really don't revert warring with vandals on meta sysops / stewards talkpage, this will just let the vandal be happy and the person be disturbed. For these cases, please please go to RFH or #wikimedia and use !admin@meta to seek admin assistance. Don't go beyond 2 reverts for a certain vandal. This is very counter-productive. I also suffered from the same situation before, and was warned, so I think it's easy for people to forget / not know the conventions, hence, here I tell you not to. Thanks for the patrolling though. Patroller
[edit]I've added you to patroller user group because of your recent undo edits. If you do not want it, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. — Tulsi Bhagat [ contribs | talk ] 06:22, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Tulsi Bhagat Given this Meta:Babel/Archives/2020-01#Allow_sysops_to_grant_patroller_without_request_on_RFH? which you had been a party to and then didn't respond there and granting patroller without the user request against a consensus that it should be only after an request on RFH, this is clearly inappropriate granting. I will have no opposition if in any way Saroj asked for it and I would have granted it but processes need to be followed, I hope to get a response from you. Thank you and sorry for the trouble but this is something that occurred twice. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:24, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Camouflaged Mirage: Actually, I didn't remember, probably missed to comment there. Today, DannyS712 prompted me on IRC when I granted it, and I was about to revert my action but then thought that's should be upon an admin discretion. I agree, procedures need to be followed. Ah, my bad. Sorry for that. I've just reverted my action. I've noted all things and I will keep in mind from now. Sorry for the mess. Kind regards, — Tulsi Bhagat [ contribs | talk ] 16:04, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Tulsi Bhagat Hello, sorry for the trouble caused to you too. Granting any flags is always admin discretion, just this flag requires the user asking for it. It is confusing at times, as commons allow sysop to grant patroller w/o request but just treat this like COM:LRR but not 48h hold needed for requests. And I will say sorry to Saroj for the much trouble caused....pardon me for that. Well wishes. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:40, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Deletion tags on dty.wiki
[edit]Hi Saroj, I hope you are doing well — I am reviewing dty:श्रेणी:मेटौन पड्या पन्नाअन currently and have noticed that many of these categories (e.g. dty:श्रेणी:नेपाली खेलाडीहरू) have been tagged for deletion by you roughly five years ago. Could you help me understand if all these categories still need to be deleted (and the main reason for their deletion)? Thank you in advance! :-) — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 15:48, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi TheresNoTime,
- The reason those categories were tagged for deletion was that their names were in Nepali rather than the language of this project. I would recommend reaching out to a currently active Doteli administrator to discuss renaming the categories appropriately.
- Let me know if you need any further clarification! Saroj (talk) 05:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the help! :) — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 18:53, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Questions
[edit]I have a few more questions, and I expect you to answer all of them honestly. I obtained most of the evidence from a now-deleted Reddit post in January 2024, which mentioned Tulsi, Bhurtel Beebak, you, and some other Nepali Wikipedians and LTAs in connection with paid editing campaigns and vandalism. My questions are: do you know Tulsi or Bhurtel Beebak? Have you ever been involved in paid editing using your old account or current account with Tulsi or any other group? Do you have any other undisclosed accounts that you are actively using at present? While this involves lock evasion, I am not certain whether the stewards will lock your account or forgive you, given the good work you have done with this account. Please create a subpage listing all previous accounts you have used and link it to your user page so that visitors can see your full history. Personally, I believe we should not set a precedent by forgiving LTAs who intentionally break community trust, as it may encourage others to do the same, but that decision ultimately rests with the stewards. – DreamRimmer ■ 10:32, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi DreamRimmer,
- Thanks for reaching out and giving me a chance to clear things up.
- Bibek Bhurtel is my friend, and we went to the same school. Tulsi, on the other hand, is someone I only know from Wikimedia — I don’t know him personally and haven’t had any kind of contact with him or his group since early 2017.
- I don’t really know anything about the Reddit post or how my or Bibek’s names got mentioned there. Regarding the “Wikipedia sockpuppets of Sarojupreti” category, roughly 60% of the accounts were mine and about 40% were Bibek’s.
- Just to be clear — I’ve never done any paid editing, not with this account or with any older ones. Right now, this is the only account I use, and I don’t have any others.
- The whole sockpuppet situation started years ago when my account got linked with Bibek’s. Both of us were blocked at that time. We tried to explain that we were different people, but because we shared similar activity patterns and IPs, it kept connecting our accounts. Whenever one of us made a new account, it’d end up flagged as connected again. Bibek left Wikipedia back in 2017 and hasn’t been active since.
- I understand how important transparency is for the community, and I’m happy to cooperate with any review or checks if the stewards think it’s needed.
- If it helps, I’m also willing to make a subpage listing my previous accounts for clarity. Saroj (talk) 11:46, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your honest response. After reading all your replies and your acknowledgment, I am now fully convinced. I no longer have any objection to you continuing your editing, and it is now up to the stewards to decide what course of action they wish to take. – DreamRimmer ■ 13:08, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
