Wikisul User Group (PT:Grupo de Usuários Wikisul) aims to gather editors living in southern Brazil who are interested in organizing and participating in outreach activities involving universities and Wikimedia projects, especially Wikipedia (see objectives below), and to promote and participate in the projects offered by the Wikimedia Foundation.

It aims to organize the active members of Wikimedia in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. Although it is mandatory to live in one of these states to join Wikisul, no compulsory disaffiliation will be done if the editor moves to another region after membership.

Mission, Objectives and Focus[edit]

Mission[edit]

  • Encourage approximation between universities and Wikimedia projects.

Objectives[edit]

  1. Creation, improvement and maintenance of main and auxiliary pages (as categories, templates and lists) relevant to university public, such as biographies of thinkers and teachers, as well as academic themes;
  2. Improvement of internal policies aiming greater reliability of information on Wikipedia;
  3. Mediation and creation of mechanisms for more reliable use of Wikipedia in academic environment;
  4. Promotion of university events about Wikipedia and Wikimedia;
  5. Training of personnel to achieve the previous objectives.

Focus[edit]

  1. Wikisul is limited to the South Region of Brazil;
  2. Wikisul is limited to the relation betwenn WMF projects and Universities (including colleges, university libraries and university museums).
