For bot status on MetaWiki, see the bot policy and request page.
Shortcut:
SRB
This page hosts requests for a bot flag on a Wikimedia wiki with no bureaucrats. Please read the instructions before posting a request. Do NOT post your request here until you get community approval (ie, don't list your bot here if you haven't consulted the wiki for at least a week).

Instructions

Before posting here

If there is a bureaucrat on the local wiki, please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:UserRights on the relevant wiki. Before requesting access here, make sure to obtain consensus on the local wiki if there is a community (see the index of request pages). If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect.

Remember to read the local project's bot policy. This should be linked from the local bot request page; a few are listed below. DO NOT post your request here without having fulfilled the local policies first, and having waited for at least a week to gauge community opinion.

Making a request

  1. Place the following code at the bottom of the "Bot status requests" section below:
    ===Bot name@xxproject===
    {{sr-request
     |status    = <!--don't change this line-->
     |domain =
     |user name =
     |discussion=
    }}
    Thank you! ~~~~

  2. Fill in the values:
    • 'domain': the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
    • 'user name': the bot's user name (like "ExampleBot"). Leave it blank if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
    • 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the bot (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Bots#ExampleBot]]"). Notes: If there is no local vote or discussion, please say so below the template and explain why not. If there's no community, implement the standard bot policy instead.
  3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Global bot requests

Global bots are enabled on most wikis using the standard bot policy (see list of global bot wikis and global bot access requirements).

Global bot status for VVVBot

Please, grant global bot status to my bot. I started it in Spring 2007, and it already has status in some wikis. Thanks — vvv 18:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done Congratulations, this is the first global bot! Jon Harald Søby 12:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Global bot status for LaaknorBot

I hereby request global botstatus for LaaknorBot, running primary from the nordic languages of wikipedia and wikiquote (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish,++).

Done Jon Harald Søby 12:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Global bot status for FiriBot

I hereby request global bot status for FiriBot. Primary wiki: Romanian Wikipedia. I am already active on: ro, en, fr, de, es, la, simple, uk, it... (See all). Thank you in advance. Firilăcroco discuție / talk 12:21, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done Jon Harald Søby 12:24, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I got blocked on: af and mk, because of running the bot without flag. Could you please unblock it? Thank you again. Firilăcroco discuție / talk 12:29, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ask the local sysops who blocked it to do that. Also, the global bot policy is only valid on the wikis listed here, which does not include afwiki and mkwiki. Jon Harald Søby 12:32, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bot status requests

Please add new requests at the bottom of this section.

Bot operators making bulk requests, please consider helping implement the standard bot policy on small wikis to simplify and streamline the bulk request process.

タチコマ robot@newwiki

Thank you! -- Cat chi? 21:20, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

People request it locally at http://new.wikipedia.org/wiki/विकिपिडिया:बोट/broken , why haven't you? MaxSem(Han shot first!) 09:13, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Pathoschild suggested me that I implement the "Standard Bot Policy" on wikis rather than make individual requests - to speed things up for everyone. Local community is inactive (or so does a member of the community claim) and supported SBP. -- Cat chi? 09:20, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Still while it is inactive you should ask it there locally. That is how Standard Bot Policy works. They may not be active, but if needed the possibility must be given to voted against it. Sometimes a local community become active if needed and they then speak very good english. Carsrac 05:56, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can run your bot on that wiki without a bot flag for a week or for 100 edits, and it will be eligible for automatic approval under the standard bot policy. —{admin} Pathoschild 17:18:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

The previous requests on this wiki have been given by a steward. [1]

Dear Klaudiu, I have sent the local crat an email, lets see if he responds, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:07, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was told here by Saltinbas, a user from tr.wiktionary, that I should ask for the bot flag at meta. But it's ok if we wait for the crat's answer a bit. — KlaudiuMihăilă Message 20:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Last time my mail had worked too :) let's wait a bit, maybe he responds, I believe tr.wikt allows to run the bot without flag while waiting for it, but please ask them first. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:21, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Winterbot@fywikibooks

Hi, folks! Community? I've been pretty much alone over there for a while. ;-) http://fy.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=Wiki:RecentChanges&days=30

Plus, this bot qualifies for automatic approval under site policy. Direct link to English language policy subpage. Our site implements the standard policy, with additions. Relevant here: "Approval will be automatically granted for bots that are ... established on a sister project, and operated by a sysop on either of the two sites." Qualification is established in the request by the link labelled "Behearders" (sysop) and the toolservers link, labelled "16.000 bydragen" (16.000 edits).

Glad you haven't done this yet. I just realised I cannot properly rely on that second exemption ground here, since as sole admin, I implemented the policy myself, and did so less than 7 days ago! That would constitute a bill of attainder style end-run around your well thought-out policy. If you didn't happen to notice what I did, that would be dishonest. Thanks! Snakesteuben 12:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For both those reasons, due to the lack of a community, I respectfully submit that the 7-day waiting period should not apply. (But if you don't agree, I understand, and will twiddle my thumbs for a while. :-D)

Thank you! Snakesteuben 17:46, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of bot status

If a specific user is abusing his/her bot status, you may request removal of the status on his account here. Please be sure to provide a short explanation on the current situation, along with links to the bot's contribution and an announcement in your community of the abuse. Previous requests are archived.

White Cat

My human account had been accidentally granted a bot flag on the following wikis.

  • White Cat@cywiki
  • White Cat@euwiki
  • White Cat@cawikinews
  • White Cat@eswikiversity
  • White Cat@eowikibooks

The following accounts on the following wikis do not have a bot flag (my human account was granted a bot flag instead of the actual bot account). The bot flag from my human account should be migrated to these.

  • Computadora@eswikiversity
  • Komputilo@eowikibooks

I kindly request a fix. Thanks. -- Cat chi? 15:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

cywiki has an active bureaucrat, euwiki has an active bureaucrat, cawikinews has active bureaucrats, eswikiversity has a relatively active bureaucrat and only eowikibooks has an inactive bureaucrat, but he's active on eowiki. So, this is clearly Not done. --FiliP × 17:00, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know all that, but they seem to lack the technical knowledge as do I. If you are willing to "teach" them, that is fine by me. -- Cat chi? 17:40, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What is there to be taught? Go to Special:Userrights. Period. Everything from there on should be clear, because it's ever so intuitive. If a bureaucrat can't do that, then maybe he shouldn't be a bureaucrat. --FiliP × 09:04, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. —{admin} Pathoschild 20:11:02, 04 August 2008 (UTC)
