This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. If your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.
Please note that interface-translations are done at Betawiki.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community.

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Please summarize your request in the "summary".

Mahitgar@hi-Wikt-Hindi Language Wiktionary

I request sysop access.

Hindi Language Wiktionary has got very limited active community and most of the edits are from anonymous.I created a new page for Voting and requested nomination support on 9th Ocober 2007 i.e.more and a one and half month now .The same poll is notified on Main page, local Village pump so also village pump of Hindi Language wikipedia and other village pumps of other majior Indian language wikipedias ,Hindi being India's supposedly national language. But even after doing that I got 3 positive votes and no oppose vote at Hindi WIktionary Vote page.

Unfortunately local Burocrate hi:WIkt:User:Spunden seems to be on very very long wiki break and not done any edits at hindi wiktionary since 12 March 2007 he has not done any edits at his mother tounge Gujrathi Wikipedia since May 2007 and has not responded in any way to my requests on his user talk pages over last one month.

My main purpose is to provide standard minimum support level to hindi witionary on same levels of Hindi wikipedia and translation of help pages from Marathi language wiktionary Marathi is closest language to Hindi in Vocabulory and Script(I am also a active sysop at Marathi Language wiktionary since long)

Requesting your earliest approval to my request for sysopship at Hindi Wiktionary

Thank you. Mahitgar 17:05, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am a sysop on the Hindi Wiktionary, and I support his request. Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington 07:56, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quechua Wiktionary

I request sysop access, renewing my request from 10:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC). I am already an admin on qu: (qu:User:AlimanRuna).

Please note that there is no user community yet. Besides one other user (who is supporting my request, see local request link - over one month old - and recent changes), I'm the only active user on qu:wikt. There are some tasks to be done by an admin who speaks Quechua, e.g. some MediaWiki messages in bad Quechua to be deleted and corrected, respectively. Thank you. AlimanRuna 12:12, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done until 01 February 2008 (2 months). There is not yet sufficient community to elect a permanent administrator; feel free to request renewal when it expires. Please consider correcting Quechua messages on the translatewiki, so that the MediaWiki localization files will be corrected (see guide). —{admin} Pathoschild 17:38:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

Str4nd@fi Wikinews

I'm requesting bureaucrat access for Str4nd in fi Wikinews. We had a consensus about our first sysops and bureaucrats. Discussion was open from 25 November to 2 December.

Thank you. AtteL 12:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done In a community with just 86 registered accounts (some of which are accounts created by Stewards and other Wikimedia users who maintain accounts in multiple projects) and 3 admins, we can't appoint 2 Bureaucrats (considering the request for AtteL, below). There simply isn't regular use for the tools associated with the bit. Perhaps in a few months, if the project continues to grow? Sorry about that. Redux 16:31, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We were asked in IRC to get some consensus in this thing. We already requested for this in November (see archives).
02:02:22 < effeietsanders> AtteL: and gather consensus in the mean while, to get permanent access
We also had a little situation with stoled nicknames. AtteL 18:02, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi AtteL, sorry for the inclearity. I meant consensus regarding adminship, not bureaucratship. Sorry for the confusion. Effeietsanders 18:36, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, notice that we need to consider the existing demand for the Bcrat tools on any project. In cases where only low traffic — meaning: contexts in which the tools would only be used sporadically — exists, the occasional requests are handled quite easily by the Stewards, on demand. CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information), and make sure they contact an op for access to #wikimedia-checkuser.

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

If you want to request that your own status be removed, please don't forget to place a note on your local user talk page (preferably with an English translation). This is required to prove your identity. And then add the request here.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

incubatorwiki

I request removal of access:

See the relevant Incubator policies here and here.

Thank you. MF-Warburg(de) 13:57, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Partially Done. I removed the status of Steve*fung, but regarding Dbmag9, although his last edit was June 5, I would not nitpick about the 3 days left for the six full months to be completed. I noticed however, that there seems to have been no visible attempt to contact the user about his inactivity. Why not use those 3 days to do that? At the very least, leave a message on his user talk page on the Incubator, notifying him that he is on the verge of being desysopped due to inactivity, per policy. It never hurts to at least try to ascertain the situation, especially since the 6 months haven't even been exceeded. Redux 14:25, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I informed him. --MF-Warburg(de) 14:41, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't need to be done anymore. He replied and that's an edit :-) --MF-Warburg(de) 09:26, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? Isn't that a little bit ridiculous? And I think he means with "OK, fine" that his status can be removed. 2 edits from 1 April until 1 December. I thinks his status should be removed, but that's just my opinion. SPQRobin 12:13, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And the intention wasn't to give the user an opportunity to make a single edit and thus "reset" the countdown for the inactivity deadline. The intention was to ascertain if the user had any intention to resume some kind of regular activity, now or, at least, in the near future. His reply seems to indicate the exact opposite. In fact, given what he said I'd say the status should be removed. The user seems to understand and accept that he should/would be desysopped per inactivity and policy, but that he just can't be active for the forseeable future. So unless the local community would prefer to have him retain the access because he replied to the notification, I can remove the access right now. Because of what Warburg just wrote, however, I'd prefer it if he would clarify what the community would like to see done in light of the user's response. The user won't be active, that much is clear, so it appears to be ok to desysop. A single edit after 6 months of inactivity doesn't make the user active. But it is, of course, up to the community to decide. Redux 19:38, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lecartia@de.wikipedia

I request removal of sysop access. Lecartia was made sysop because of her appointment to the arbcom (on de.wp all arbcom members have sysop access, but - if not elected sysop - are only allowed to use it for arbcom purposes). Lecartia is no longer member of the arbcom (cf. list here). She is the only of the three retired arbcom members who is not an elected sysop.

For the arbcom of de.wiki. Thank you. Thogo (talk) 13:04, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

You need to specify a duration. Temporary adminship cannot be granted for an undetermined amount of time. Thank you, Redux 19:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
2 weeks would do, please also give import rights (need to import pages from the test project). Thanks. - Teak 20:25, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The tasks you specified, without any further clarification, doesn't seem to justify 2 weeks. I'm granting one week temporary adminship. If you need more at the end of this, please make a note, and we can consider an extension. If you already have reason to believe that it would indeed take longer, you can post now, and I can change the deadline if necessary. Redux 20:48, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done Expires on December 2, 2007 at 20:50 GMT. Redux 20:51, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'd never done an import before, so didn't know what it would take to do, hence the 2 weeks (thought it might require a change in import settings). Done with the import (remove the import access please), though would like to keep the sysop status for regular admin chores, since there is no permanent sysop yet. Will make a local RfA for a permanent one. - Teak 02:36, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Import rights have been revoked, as requested. Your temporary adminship remains until December 2nd, for the time being. If you start a local procedure for permanent adminship, please provide a link to the local page and a short explanation, and you may request an extension of your temporary adminship for the duration of the vote. If you are appointed, your temporary adminship will simply be converted into permanent adminship. Redux 18:00, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Local RfA request. The closing date of the vote is open (expecting a minimum of 3 votes), since the project is new. Please extend the temporary adminship till January 1st, 08, so that regular sysop chores can be taken care of locally. Thanks. ― Teak 13:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Extended until January 1st, 2008, with the possibility of conversion into permanent sysophood, depending on the outcome of the currently open, local RfA. Redux 14:34, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ooswesthoesbes@liwikiquote and Filipinayzd@bclwiki

Those two users have the test admin status on Wikimedia Incubator. The policy there says that they can become a sysop when the new site is created. The Limburgish Wikiquote and the Bikol Wikipedia have been created so I asked if they wanted to become admin there. Ooswesthoesbes confirmed that and Filipinayzd confirmed that.

  • Preferred duration and reason: a month or so, mainly for maintenance etc.

Thank you. -- Prince Kassad 17:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since you mentioned the local admin being highly active on another project, as well as the fact that the damage was done quite some time back, we might need to wait a couple of days longer, to give him time to actually get around to the work needed. Further, could you inform him that you have requested temporary adminship on ks.wiki due to his lack of response and provide us with a link (diff) to this post, which would be, I take it, on the Newari Wikipedia? Thank you, Redux 18:27, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

Sorry, could not respond in time as I was out of town for a few days (btw, I was not active in any wikipedia after 25th Nov, neither in my "home" wikipedia, nor in my "non-home" wikipedia!). Have started working on Kashmiri wikipedia. It is not all spam and can be transformed into stubs. Btw, ethnologue considers usage of "Newari" as an offensive term to denote "Nepal Bhasa/Newar", so please try to use less of that term. All the same, thanks a lot for checking Kashur wiki for spams. Thank you.--Eukesh 21:17, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you edited recently... am I getting hallucinations? Anyway, don't forget to delete ks:Wikipedia:!Dead-end pages, ks:Wikipedia:!Long articles, ks:Wikipedia:!Most wanted articles, ks:Wikipedia:!Orphaned articles, ks:Wikipedia:!Popular articles, ks:Wikipedia:!Short articles, ks:Wikipedia:All pages by title and ks:Wikipedia:Broken/, remains of the old software which are fully protected but don't serve a purpose anymore. -- Prince Kassad 21:39, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seems that the problem is solved (or being solved, at least). That being the case, this request itself is {{not done}}. I ask that any comments or requests concerning the actions needed be posted on the Kashmiri Wikipedia (possibly on Eukesh's talk page there), since this thread is going to be archived — plus the fact that we don't discuss actions pertaining to local projects on Meta pages. Redux 12:45, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm reopening the request, it looks like he stopped cleaning up, with only about 15 pages (of 120) having been processed. -- Prince Kassad 21:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you are getting hallucinations :) Anyway, I do not proceed in a mechanized manner. I take my time to see whether the pages that are listed for deletion can be preserved or elongated rather than deleted. Besides, I am a volunteer and work when I have free time. If you are so eager to help, you are most welcome. However, please do not delete pages in Indic and Nastaleeq scripts without much knowledge. As you might notice from the discussions present in this wikipedia, the wikipedia was "abandoned" because of tensions arising due to script and stuffs. On a different note, I think you can help this wikipedia more by filing a request at bugzilla to create a two script solution as is present in Kazakh wikipedia. Thank you.--Eukesh 15:19, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We cannot grant temporary adminship if local admins are active and responding to requests. Redux 01:30, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sad, considering that if a sysop is there but does not have enough time to clean up, it's absolutely impossible to clean up the wiki in question, and people can do whatever they want there. -- Prince Kassad 16:26, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Steven*fung@bclwiki

I request temporary sysop access for an other user.

  • Language Code: bcl
  • List of local sysops: bcl:Special:Listusers/sysop
  • Local User Page: bcl:User:Steven*fung
  • Preferred duration and reason: One month or so. It is a new created site, on Incubator he was a test-admin, so I asked him to have admin rights on the new site and he confirmed that. He will be an admin to help get the new project off the ground.

Thank you, SPQRobin 17:26, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We already have a temporarily-appointed admin on this project who is active. Is there a practical need for a second one? Redux 01:34, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Benoni@br wikiquote

I request temporary sysop access.

  • Language Code: br
  • List of local sysops: none
  • List of local bureaucrats: none
  • Local User Page: Implijer:Benoni
  • Preferred duration and reason:There is no sysop on the breton wikiquote for the moment and not enough members for a valid election, so I ask temporary sysop access for three months to do all the sysop work (mainly maintenance). I am already sysop on the breton wikipedia: see here. An election will be held once there is a big enough community.

Thank you. Benoni 13:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Felipe Aira@tl wikibooks

I request sysop access.

Thank you. -- Felipe Aira 06:33, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Request was written only yesterday and there is no single vote there. In case there is not a consolidated community, please ask for a temporary adminship (3 month or so) and then proceed to a regular election. --M/ 10:25, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am asking for temporary adminship since the Tagalog Wikibooks community is quite dead or more appropriately none at all. Thank you for the troubles. -- Felipe Aira 11:10, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
