This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Meta-Wiki requests

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Administrator access

Steward requests/Permissions/Sysop-header

MalTsilna @ tt.wikibooks.org

Good day! Not if you could extend the term of my administration in the Tatar Wikibooks another 3 months. --MalTsilna 13:52, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MalTsilna. Can you please post an advisory notice on the local village pump first? - Even if there's no community it's the standard procedure. I see that you've been granted 6 months temp. adminship this time, therefore we can grant you temp. adminship for another 6 months. Regards, -- Dferg ☎ talk 17:40, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK! I'll try to do it, but so far I have exams and I need some time to get it all organized. --178.204.149.67 19:30, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

Pinheiro@pt.wikiquote

Pinheiro has not edited since 2007, when he made his latest edit. Striker talk 23:10, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Was his de-adminship discussed anywhere, and does ptwq have an inactivity policy? (I couldn't find it.) -- Mentifisto 23:20, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please provide a link to project's desysopping policy/discussion. I don't see any mention of inactivity criteria at q:pt:Project:Administradores, at least. Jafeluv 23:21, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Eukesh@piwikipedia

He was made a admin by a steward and has been highly inactive. And as per community consensus, community want his removal. --Vibhijain 14:46, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On hold - The request was just opened about 2 days ago and should last at least 7 day. On hold until 2011-06-09. -Barras 14:52, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Санюн Вадик@mhr.wikipedia

The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Checkuser request (sections Санюн Вадик@mhr.wikipedia and Maikl20021@mhr.wikipedia) had shown that this user had used sock puppets to support himself during the voting. That's why the voting should be considered as falsified. The background is the following: Санюн Вадик was editing pages well, except trying sometimes to insert Russifications to Mari Wikipedia, but all the time we had stopped him from doing this during the discussion. Then he decided to obtain administrator permission and created a voting at the local administrator page. One-two day before the voting some new accounts were registered in MariWiki, that were then clarified as sock puppets. But the Санюн Вадик has win the voting, because the sock puppetry was revealed during the second voting when he tried to remove administrator permission from user ПешСай - me(I am administrator in MariWiki since 2009, since the creation of MariWiki). So he tried to change tactics and make mini-revolution in Mhr Wikipedia by leaving him as only one administrator in MariWikipedia to make Russification freely. --ПешСай 22:00, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am inclined to remove this admin permission due to falsified election. Since the community appears to be so small, and logs do not show immediate dangers, I'd like to hear the opinion from another Steward. --M/ 22:09, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I second M7's comment, this user shouldn't hold these admin rights if the vote presented such irregularities. -- Màñü飆¹5 talk [es] 22:36, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
User's administrative rights have been removed. --M/ 22:37, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is an absurd situation, when one boor named "user ПешСай " who does not know Mari language (has been studying it for only 2 years) does not accept any discussion or criticism, ideas or suggestions from collegues, who knows language from childhood and are being promoting it for many years, DECIDES to rule and dictate. Nobody among us have doubt that ПешСай as an activist and patriot has made very much for the development of Mari Wikipedia. Nobody!!! There are many comments on it in discussions (in Russian or Mari, unfortunately). But we cannot accept rudeness to us and primitive attitude to Mari language on behalf of him. Is it normal for Wikipedia administrator to behave as a boor?

About incrimination to Санюн Вадик of unauthorized use of IP: In my workplace there are 2 person are in Wiki. Our institution has only one IP for all workplaces. Санюн Вадик@mhr.wikipedia also works in place, where they use only one IP for hundreds of users. I know that there are about at least 10 Wikipedia activiststs.

And now about Санюн Вадик himself. He is the one of best moderators of the Mari El Radio. This Radio broadcasts in Mari language and has 10000-15000 listeners every day. Санюн Вадик has perfect skills in Mari. He was the first who rised against brutal violation of Mari language rules on behalf of ПешСай. How can we accept writing КОМПУЧЫР while there is accepted КОМПЬЮТЕР (see dict.marlamuter.ru for “computer”), ЯМДЫЛЫК instead of КЫШКАР (same dictionary collection for “остов, костяк”) ((((and there are many other examples))). ПешСай brutally edites all of us accordingly to his understanding of Mari language. He violates one of the principal rules: to be free in opinion and to implement the right to help people to get information in own language. Now we initiated the company to involve students of our regional University to develope the Mari Wikipedia. How can we do that if they in reality use/study another Mari language then ПешСай dictates here?

Dear Stewards, the dicision is up to you. But you have to be aware of our opinion. Cseremisz Elian

I've received another similar message on my talk page and I replied to. --M/ 16:38, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
