Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?
The contest will focus on freely licensed and high quality images of traditional and modern locally-designed costumes and formal attires in the Philippines, that will be contributed to Wikimedia Commons for free usage and spread its importance via usage in Wikipedia articles. Through Wiki Loves Fashion, quality images of different costumes and formal attires worn in many national and regional pageantry designed by marginalized designers as well as the traditional costumes and attires of different underrepresented ethnic groups in the Philippines. Outreach activities will be conducted observing health and safety protocols due to COVID-19 pandemic.

2. How will you let people know about the contest?

3. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
People from the Wikimedia community and professional photographers will compose the final jury. Prior to the final selection, volunteers will screen all the entries. Prizes will be in term of gift cards. The final jury will determine the winners taking into the consideration the technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.), originality and creativity, and most importantly the potential usefulness and overall value of the image (including its licensing) to the Wikimedia projects.

4. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?
Through outreach activities, new and existing contributors of the community will be engaged in adding images to articles across different Wikipedia editions apart from editing sessions on improving articles.

5. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

The project will be conducted online and in-person events such as edit-a-thons will be limited to less than 10 participants.
