Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

Remove event organizer for Bile rene

[edit]

Global user: Bile rene (talkcontribsUser rightsglobal contributionsCentralAuthblock log)

Reason for request: The requirements for this right include "No active blocks on the wiki on which you are applying for the right". The user has been indefinitely blocked on Wikidata since December, but has continued to use this permission to organize Wikidata-related events, doing so three times in this period. Given these circumstances, I recommend the removal of the permission. Bovlb (talk) 15:58, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Bovlb, Wikidata-related events, so yes, I have revoked the right, though the "No active blocks on the wiki on which you are applying for the right", wouldn't technically apply because that'd be applicable on Wikidata. I am open to corrections. signed, Aafi (talk) 16:26, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, technically this doesn't directly apply here since the block is on Wikidata, but since they're organising events related to Wikidata, I don't think it makes much sense for them to represent Wikidata when they can't even edit there themselves. – DreamRimmer 11:06, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Aafi
Hello @DreamRimmer
On Wiidata, I explained to the person who blocked me that I am not the Wikidata trainer for the events I create.
Due to their insistence, I asked them to provide proof of their accusations, which they were unable to do.
I am an organizer for Wiki N'zundeuh event pages, but I am in no way the Wikidata trainer.
Furthermore, a training session for this project is scheduled for the weekend of May 17th by someone else. The program has been announced here.
I would like to know if being an event organizer automatically makes you the trainer. I don't think so, which is why I find it excessive to have this right revoked here.
My Wikidata block is indeed excessive, and I have tried to reach an agreement with the person who blocked me.
I am available for further information. Bile rene (talk) 18:21, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
This reply does not appear to address the issues raised. It is not appropriate for an editor who is indefinitely blocked on a project to continue organizing events for that project. The existence of future events is not evidence in favour of restoring the right; they were aware of the block when organising them. The underlying block is a matter to appeal on the project and should not be relitigated here. Bovlb (talk) 19:27, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Furthermore, you have failed to provide any evidence (proof) for your unfounded accusations, as I requested on Wikidata.
I would appreciate it if you would cease attempting to tarnish my reputation.
What you may not know is that project organization is planned in advance. Removing my organizer rights is unjustified.
Especially since I'm not a trainer for Wikidata.
I'm turning to you here to reconsider this removal of rights, especially given that the project is ongoing. Bile rene (talk) 20:56, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Again, creating and organising events for a project you are currently blocked on, is simply unacceptable and an abuse of trust of both communities. I suggest you get your block on Wikidata lifted first and then reapply for event organiser rights here. A09|(pogovor) 22:10, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I will continue to demand this right.
The block on Wikidata predates the block on a project that is in its second edition.
But if you believe it is fair to remain deprived of this right, I will abide by that decision and remain silent, much to the chagrin of whoever initiated the block, which I find abusive because it is based on unsubstantiated accusations, for example, their inability to prove that I was a Wikidata trainer for a project. Bile rene (talk) 22:57, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
what is missing here is calmness. the due course would be as @A09 said. Seek calmly an unblock on Wikidata. There's no problem saying, "Sorry, this was a mistake, and I won't create non-notable entries persistently", and perhaps avoid being part of any initiative/project which impacts Wikidata, in any capacity, even creating event pages. Perhaps I'd be okay restoring the right if the focus was into Commons/Wikipedia only. If you seriously need the right, community trust is important. Trust is only gained when you are honest and calm in your approach. signed, Aafi (talk) 03:47, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
