Hiwiki request
[edit]That was declined based on the previous issues that project has had with elevated permissions. Project needs to have many sysops before there needs a crat, as crats only have few extra privileges. Any crat action project needs to do can still be done by stewards based on request. --Jyothis (talk) 17:03, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- It is not a matter of discrimination here. Rights were given without raising any issues before, but that was abused. Community hardly did anything to prevent or control that, it is a bit difficult to believe that it would be very different in the future. Again, Crat only does two things extra - granting some extra bits / rename users. Please show the pressing need for the project to do this in an extremely frequent basis that it becomes trouble to come to meta. You are correct, as of now, I am the only one who can read hi among stewards. given that, I - as a matter of fact any stewards - would be happy to help with crat duties for the projects at the moment. Please focus on building a great community first, such that you are in need of many sysops to keep the place clean. Then we can talk about granting permanent crats for the project. Please also understand that It is hard to regain the trust of global community once the trust has been breached by the project. hope this explains a bit better. --Jyothis (talk) 09:42, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
About your email
[edit]Dear sanjeev, Stewards responsibility is only to follow community consensus and they have already granted this right in very small communities. In case of hindi wiki, Ashish bhatnagar didn't do any violation of policy etc. I was a active bureaucrat and i did some mistakes in my earlier period as i was also not aware of Wikimedia policies at that instant of time for which this whole thing was done to whole Hindi wiki community but everyone have their own perception or thinking. I don't think these stewards are doing any wrong according to their logic or thinking but if you don't like, you or whole hindi wiki community may oppose them in next steward election. First you should file a RFC and seek all stewards opinion on that. After that you will know about their thinking and you can vote against them in stewards elections as they don't match your ideology. That is not a matter of discrimination as you suggest. you can find plenty of examples of such wikis, that got what they wanted in the past before the liberties were over used. Some kept them, some lost them based on the way things ran. Also, for your info, we all are human, and we have a real life that needs to be attended to. if you need help from a Steward, you can always go and ask in the appropriate section in Steward requests. I am not the only one around who can help. If it helps, I am usually more available in the IRC channel than on my talk page. There are others who are more active than me at the moment, especially so since I have a baby and an extremely busy job.
For your question on the translation issue - have you checked if your translation was made in translatewiki?

- Please check TranslateWiki. Regarding the community issue - Not saying that we blacklist any wiki per say, but we should keep in mind that a wiki should not be just an individual, it should be a community. If one acted on their will and community failed to fix it, it is not just the individual, but the community itself :). Using Urdu-registered Hindi for Islamic content
[edit]Hello, my name is Adam Daniel, I'm from Malaysia and I'm 20 years old. I am interested in Indian languages like Hindi due to their large amount of Perso-Arabic loanwords. I understand that for Hindi, there are two registers: Sanskritized and Persianized - but for Islamic contexts like of Muhammad Junagarhi, I more prefer Hindi in its Persianized Islamic register - what I observe is that, Bangla, despite using Brahmic script like Hindi, is Islamic - but why Hindi cannot? - that's why I use Islamic register for Hindi when it comes to Islamic things.
Even one of my observations is that, I translated in Google Translate an English Islamic text:
"Hadith today 1. The Esteemed Beloved (salutations and peace of Allah be upon him) has said in a famous hadith in which whose meaning and content are - Help your brother, whether he is a one oppressing over others or the oppressed. The Companions asked - O Allah's Messenger! Of course we are aware helping the oppressed one, but how do we help the one oppressing over others? The Esteemed Beloved replied - By detaining his hands from persisting in oppression.
The saying of Allah Blessed Exalted in the Noble Quran is as follows, which a believer must help everyone whether oppressive to others or the oppressed, as oppression will turn to darkness on the Day of Resurrection, plus no one knows what would happen when facing the Court of Allah Blessed Exalted: 42. Blame is only upon those oppressing the people and exceeding the bounds in the earth without right and justice, for them is a painful chastisement,"
When translated to Hindi, the translation result indeed and with no doubt displayed for it was:

- @Bismillah114: For what it's worth, most of Bangla is in fact much more Sanskritic than Hindi and has significantly lesser usage Perso-Arabic based loanwords. The English Islamic text you have machine-translated above is specifically a text intended for Islamic readers and from Islamic point of view, as far I see, which seems to be understood by the AI while translating and as such the translation has heavy amount of Perso-Arabic words. It is not comparable to a text written for Wikipedia, which is intended for all readers and from neutral point of view - which in most cases would be translated to normal everyday reading Hindi without excessive and intentionally high amount of Perso-Arabic loanwords. – Svārtava (tɕ) 03:51, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

Indeed, when I translated an English Islamic text in Hindi through Google Translate, it is a fact that Google Translate displayed 48 Perso-Arabic loanwords and terms, the English text I translated is:
