Wiki-Smart Tatar
[edit]Traditional onwiki contests and sporadic occasional Wiki-outreach activities were complemented this year by Tatarstan President's decision to include Farhad Fatkullin of WUG TAT & Wikimedia Russia into the Republic of Tatarstan Presidential Commission for Preservation and Strengthening of Tatar language use. Wikimedia Languages of Russia Community proposals were considered by the Commission leadership (Tatarstan Parliamentarians) and a roadmap for cooperation developed. On top of various onwiki activities, this reflected on increased visibility on TV, regional media, as well as led to various meetings & presentations.
- February: Lecture and an interview for Piter.tatar's YouTube channel (Russian: video, slides)
- April: Attending third in-person meeting of Tatarstan Presidential Commission on Preservation and Strengthening of Tatar language use (as Wikimedia Russia and WUG TAT member, as well as ttWP admin)
- June & November: Video & follow-up offline meeting with Kazan Federal University Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication Gabdulla Tuqay Higher School of Tatar Culture and Education (Russian: slides, project page 1 & 2)
- July: Meeting with the leadership of Institute of Tatar Language, Literature and Arts of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences - Tatar language regulator (Russian: slides, Wikinews)
- September: Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Institute of Applied Semiotics leadership invited Tatar & other Turkic Wikipedians to present at online TurkLang 2021 Computer Science Conference
- October: Tatar Wikipedia community experience presented @ Wikimedia CEE Online Meeting 2021 (2 pre-recorded videos)
- November: Saint Petersburg Tatar Media Forum presentation (slides)
- November: Tatar Internet Development Foundation invited Wikimedia Russia director to the Annual Jewels of Knowledge contest Awarding ceremony, held this year @ Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Headquarters Building
