Since I currently don't have time to be active in this role, I'd like my global sysop rights to be removed. I thank the community for its trust, and I hope that I might have more time to contribute in the future. Regards, --Maximillion Pegasus 00:15, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Steward requests/Permissions/Sysop-header

Maax@sowiki

(Hi my temporary Sysop permission will expire soon, I will like to request additional sysop term thanks.) Maax 14:44, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On hold until 18th January, to give a full week for comments. If there are no objections after this time, we will extend your adminship. PeterSymonds (talk) 14:47, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

krishnaprasaths@ta.wikiquote

Hi, I would become temporary administrator of Tamil-Wikiquote, because now here is since a long time that there are no users who contributing regularly, and furthermore there are no admins, the contrary there is much work and a lot of cleaning to do. There are pages to be deleted, others to move, and the first page has need to be Revised, etc... Then it is important to prevent the first page from other spam editors. Thank-you --krishnaprasath (talk) 16:05, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Leave a note on the community page for that wikiquote (village pump, tavern or whatever is called). Wait for a couple of weeks for opinions, and then post it here. We check that community was informed and then may grant the sysop. es:Magister Mathematicae 16:07, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a notice here. Thank you. --krishnaprasath (talk) 02:44, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bellavista1957@fa.wikisource

Hello, I have been Admin since 16 July 2011 in Wikisource Farsi. I revitalized the Wikisource Project created main page, category system, translated guidance and help system, developed templates, guided new users, corrected pages with mistakes and uploaded thousands of new pages with scans. I would like to further develop Wikisource Farsi. I would like to change my temporary position to permanent. Thank you.----Bellavista1957 12:23, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On hold until 15th January, to give a full week for comment. In the event of no opposition, the number of people active on the request will determine whether your adminship is to be temporary or permanent. PeterSymonds (talk) 12:27, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but according to previous consensus in our small community, only temporary adminship is permitted on Persian Wikisource. AMERICOPHILE 14:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
ps: User:Mardetanha, User:Pedram.salehpoor, User:Bellavista1957 himself, User:Huji, and me voted in favor of temporary adminship unanimously. AMERICOPHILE 14:57, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Citation of this vote is completely misinterpreted. Firstly, I have to inform that Mardetanha and Pedram Salehpoor have a permanent Adminship on Wikisource Farsi. Huji gave up his Adminship on Wikisource Farsi, as he has not been active more than three years and had only 69 edits. Huji is permanent Admin in Wikipedia Farsi. We agreed that concerning Adminship in Wikisource Farsi that inactive admins should be removed from the Admin list as it is in Wikipedia Farsi. Americophile is giving as usual false information, and misuses the language barrier. --Bellavista1957 15:25, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I asked a third party, User:Mehran who is a sysop on Persian Wikipedia, to confirm my statements. You can also use Google translate. I know that it sucks but easy to decipher key information. AMERICOPHILE 15:45, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please explain why you deleted the request? As I said above, the numbers would determine whether the request would be permanent or temporary, so if it is as you say, it wouldn't have been permanent. It only seems fair that this request is restored and the discussion continues for its full duration. Please consider restoring it. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 14:52, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have deleted nothing, but just put his RfA into a collapsible box temporarily. User:Bellavista1957 has made a request to "extend his Adminship and change its duration from temporary to permanent" while he is not currently an admin and permanent adminship is not allowed on our community. Only decisions made by our community are legitimate and our community has prohibited permanent adminship. Thanks for monitoring the RfA. AMERICOPHILE 15:16, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────┘
Here is where the stewards stand on this issue. Essentially we have to act on what local users decide, which is why our role is somewhat limited. However, we can also act as neutral third parties, and it seems to me that this discussion isn't being conducted in the best way. I would advise that the discussion is uncollapsed, and allowed to run its full course; after its full duration, we can judge consensus. If consensus is in favour, we can grant Bellavista1957 temporary admin rights until the community has a full discussion about allowing permanent adminship. Please consider doing that. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 16:39, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did what you wanted. AMERICOPHILE 17:03, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was asked to comment here. On the above link, in confirming Americophile, Mardetanha have suggested the temp sysop idea (he have said: "We could generalize the Wikipedia rules here. I oppose to permanent administration. We have two permanent semi-active sysop & one temp sysop here now.") and going on, Pedram.salehpoor and Bellavista1957 and Huji supported that. I have no idea if it's a kind of consensus or not, the project have already two permanent admins and no 'crats notwithstanding. I also think it's better to let the stewards submit the result. With all best. Mehran Debate 17:12, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The title of above mentioned translations is Removal the Access of Inactive Admins. The discussion was about removal Admin access from inactive admins. There has never been a consensus about permanent or temporary Adminship. In fa.Wikipedia as well as in fa.wikisource there are permanent admins. The whole discussion shows the concentrated hate of Americophile against me. Please look at comments Americophile and Hootandolati made in scriptorium fa.wikisource, this Americophile has exceeded all borders of seriousness and respect. I would like to mention both Americophile and Hootandolati have only one single contribution made in Wikisource Farsi, the rest of their time and edits is spent to terrorize me. Have you ever experienced such a voting process? Permanently the Americophile and Hootandolati redesigning the structure and look of the voting page. The page is full of defamation and slander. --Bellavista1957 10:47, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the title is "Remoavl of access of inactive admins" but the content is about both the removal of access of inactive admins and prohibiting permanent adminship. I translated the whole discussion so that the stewards can easily understand who is lying.
"User:Americophile: It's better to leave a message on the talkpages of inactive admins (User:Kaveh and User:Huji) and ask them to give their admin right back in case they don't need it anymore. If they did not respond to this request within a month, We ask Meta stewards to remove their accesses.
User:Mardetanha: We can generalize the Wikipedia policy to here. Furthermore, I oppose to permanent adminship. We have two permanent semi-active admins and one temporary avtive admin in this project now. Regards
User:Pedram.salehpoor: I agree with Mardetanha.
User:Bellavista1957: I agree with Mardetanha and Pedram.salehpoor too.
User:Americophile: I left a message on Huji and Kaveh talkpages about this issue. I hope they respond to my request.
User:Huji: I made a request to remove my admin right. In my opinion, Persian Wikisourec is such a small community that doesn't need permanent admins. If User:Kaveh agrees with this fact too (or not respond to the request on his talkpage within the due date), We can get his crat access back and grant admin rights only for certain periods of time (e.g. three-month periods) that can be extended if the temporay admin keeps contributing."
How can you say that it's not a consensus while according the above discussion I made a request to remove adminship and crat accesses of User:Kaveh and it was accepted and nobody (neither the stewards nor the Persian Wikisource users) objected. AMERICOPHILE 23:53, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A full week passed. Could you please judge the consensus? AMERICOPHILE 12:24, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done; there is currently no consensus locally. PeterSymonds (talk) 15:05, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Would you please explain why there is no consensus? User Aghesna had not a single edit in Wikisource Farsi when he voted me against me, he is not the member of Wikisource Farsi Community. There are 5 votes pro and two votes against me, it means that clearly the majority is in favor of my request. Please EXPLAIN YOUR DECISION.--Bellavista1957 15:19, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see three in opposition as far as I can see, which is no consensus. PeterSymonds (talk) 15:23, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No need to mention that User:Sansoorchi who appeared on Persian Wikisource yesterday is not an established user and therefore not eligible to vote. User:Mehran, while he is an admin on Persian Wikipedia, has no contributions on the main namespace and therefore is not qualified to vote. There are three votes in favor of your adminship and two votes against your adminship that means a simple majority of 60% which is definitely not enough. AMERICOPHILE 16:02, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You should look at the consensus a bit more carefully. Americophile and Hootandolati are in opposition. Aghesna as I wrote, voted against me without even been registered in Wikisource Farsi at the time voted against me. Aghesna's vote does not count. There are many people from other projects of Wikimedia Foundation who support me, but they say they can not participate because they do not edit in Wikisource Farsi. One can not just pass by and vote, this is manipulation of the vote. To avoid such manipulations the rules and regulations has foreseen a minimum of editing to become part of a community. I wrote on the top of the consensus that the active members of Wikisource Farsi should vote, not by passers. PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR DECISION. --Bellavista1957 15:50, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Again user Americophile comes up with false information. User Sansoorchi registered 1 December 2011 and made more 30 edits, user Mehran has registered on 5 January 2012 and made technical changes in Wikisource Farsi, as administrator of Wikipedia Farsi, he knows that his own vote is correct and is based on rules and regulations. Americophile intervened several times in the election process. In my view he is not qualified to vote because he is a known harasser and blocked in Wikipedia Farsi due to his aggressiveness and misusing more than 30 accounts. Please do not make a mockery out of this voting. With this permanent attack of Americophile against me and making political allegations against me, it was courageous from these Users to participate in consensus and vote in my favor. PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR DECISION--Bellavista1957 16:14, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Manipulation in Wikisource Farsi: I just looked at the contributions of Sansoorchi, I am surprised that in the list of contributions there are only edits of 14 January 2012. But look at the discussion page of Sansoorchi you will see that Pedram Salehpoor has welcomed Sansoorchi on 1 December 2011, UTC 18:32. On 1 December 2011, UTC 18:32 Pedram Salehpoor wrote to Sansoorchi that Dear Colleague, for the authors whose works are not in public domain, page can not be created. Pedram Salehpoor deleted all uploads of Sansoorchi, I opposed his decision and wrote emails to both Mardetanha and Pedram Salehpoor against these deletions (emails can be provided on request). How come that there is no trace of the activities and the contributions of Sansoorchi in his activity lists. One must ask what is going on, in this project? Please investigate this matter. --Bellavista1957 16:49, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

محمد الجداوي@arwiktionary

I wish you grant me a permanent access as i have enough votes.M.Gedawy Talk 10:39, 15 January 2012 (UTC) [reply]

Done Granted for 6 months to expire on 2012-07-15. To prolong your (interface) adminship, please start another election a few days before your temporary access expires, and after a week post your request again to this page. Thanks.
I can't grant more than six months adminship as the community is not yet established on arwiktionary. You just have to come in six months to prolong your adminship and the qusetion will be raised again at this moment. This is mainly a measure to prevent small wikis to have thousands of inactive sysops, which is already the case of arwiktionary. Best regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 10:50, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Quentin :)--M.Gedawy Talk 10:59, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

Steward requests/Permissions/Crat-header

Arjunaraoc@tewiki

As the current Bureaucrats of Telugu Wikipedia are inactive for close to an year and attempts to contact them are not successful, the request is being filed here. I request similar Bureaucrat access to all Telugu Wiki projects, as I am working to improve the Telugu Wiki Community. Arjunaraoc 11:08, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It seems you have 6 votes in favor and none to oppose. But currently stewards do not grant bureaucrat access to users who have less than 15 supports in favor. Of course, if the local bureaucrat wants to promote an user, it's up to him or her and the community. But for stewards its different. This thing is being discussed on Meta now. If the community is small stewards are always here to assist for bureaucrat help. Regards, — Tanvir | Talk ] 11:17, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have extended the voting deadline till Jan 22 2012 to get additional support votes. I will revert once the deadline is completed.--Arjunaraoc 12:53, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>
