Proposals, limit[edit]

Hey, please do note that the wishlist survey has a limit of three proposals per person. This is for two reasons a) because we're already with this limit at a number of proposals that are difficult to overview and b) because proposers are expected to continue working on and crafting their proposals to make sure they're the best they can be. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 14:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have three proposals you believe in more than the others? /Johan (WMF) (talk) 14:05, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Johan (WMF):
OK, I've tried to clarify this. We had the same limit last year.
You're supposed to be an active part of the discussion, take feedback into account and edit the proposal according to the discussion, so that it carries over to the voting phase in good shape. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 15:57, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Johan (WMF):Well, you're right but what about my list (I want to suggest other things)?Should I wait for next year or try to propose them elsewhere?Thank you --ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2 (talk) 16:04, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There are a few solutions:
  • First, you should decide which three you want to spend time on. That's the most important thing.
  • Second, you should see if some of them are perhaps not suited for the wishlist. Are they actually decisions to be taken by the community and don't include much technical development, but rather a simple configuration change? Then this is not the right place.
  • Third, maybe someone else wants to suggest the same thing. Or they could be suggested in a different venue. Or wait until next year. Either way, we need editors to have a chance to read through the proposals, and there are tens of thousands of Wikimedians. There's got to be a limit. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 16:11, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why you emailed me about this, @عادل وهبة خليل 2: but I agree with everything Johan said. Going through your list, I can tell that a lot of them need wider community consensus before implementation. We cannot just make the changes until we know more people want them. Also, quite some of them are technically unfeasible like this, this, this, this etc. So please, mark all except 3 as {{withdrawn}}. Thanks. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 21:23, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Johan (WMF) and NKohli (WMF): Unfortunately, I can not withdraw my suggestions because I'm tired of preparing them but I can choose these three and and then mark the rest yourselves as you want --ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2 (talk) 08:58, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2: The first two are the same in your list of three. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 18:45, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@NKohli (WMF): Updated.Thank you --ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2 (talk) 06:39, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative outlets to post your ideas.[edit]

@ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2: you can always try the منح:معمل الأفكار for your proposals, it runs all year long and I’m not aware of any limit. Otherwise you could open a Requests for comment and explain every individual idea 💡 in more detail and let every Wikimedia community vote for them. Though I would advise you to listen to the above feedback to see which idea is feasibly and which one isn't. I hope that your improvements shall meet great success, passionate visionaries such as yourself as the backbone of this project. 😉

Template Wizard script available for testing[edit]

Hello. I'm contacting you because you voted for the Infobox Wizard in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey.

The Infobox Wizard has gotten an upgrade - it's now a Template Wizard which works for infoboxes and all other templates. The feature is being developed as an extension (which will allow for localization) but there is a prototype user script which works well.

The Wishlist Team would love it if you could take a few minutes to try the Template Wizard prototype script out and give us feedback on whether it lives up to your expectations. This feedback will help build the script into an extension. To get started, add the following to your Special:MyPage/common.js -

mw.loader.load( 'https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Samwilson/TemplateWizard.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript' );

The Template Wizard will show up as a puzzle-piece icon in the 2010 WikiEditor. You can click on the icon to insert a template. Your thoughts are needed on whether it makes sense for the wizard to be available for all users by default or if there should be a preference for it. If it's a preference, what should the default be? Please leave your feedback here. Thank you! -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 22:41, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Commond deletion bot requirements[edit]

I'm contacting you because you supported the Commons Deletion Bot proposal in the 2017 Community Wishlist. The Wishlist team has finalized the draft specifications for how the bot will work, and are seeking review in confirming or discussing the plans for the bot. If you have some time, please take a look and leave a comment. Thanks, happy editing to you. - Keegan (WMF) (talk) 19:06, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The bot messages are available for translation on translatewiki.net, as part of preparing the bot for release.

Thank you for your participation in the Wishlist. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 17:29, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Community Wishlist Survey[edit]

Hi,

You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Johan (WMF):Unfortunately I will not be able to suggest new things this year because I need to make old suggestions. I'm waiting to start voting to participate.Thank you for your interest--ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2 (talk) 11:33, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User script to view subcategories[edit]

Hi ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2,

If you remember, you participated in the 2019 Community Wishlist Survey, including the discussion for a button to easily view subcategories (Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Categories/Button to show subcategories).

I sent you this MassMessage because I wanted to let you know that I have made a user script to do this.

If you are interested in using it, just add mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:DannyS712/Subcategories.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); to your global javascript page, or to your wiki-specific common.js page. This imports the code at m:User:DannyS712/Subcategories.js.

If you want to learn more, there is documentation for the script available at w:en:User:DannyS712/Subcategories. If you would like to discuss the script, talk to me at m:User talk:DannyS712.

Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 00:51, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All volunteers must have full professional proficiency in English. In Senegal, they must have native or full professional proficiency in French; in Egypt, they must have native or full professional proficiency in Arabic. Volunteer facilitators should have a vast knowledge about Wikimedia projects and experience with teaching new editors. All volunteers will be compensated.
