  • Help people around the state of Minnesota learn how to edit Wikimedia projects
  • To support any Wikimedia-oriented events or organizations operating within Minnesota
  • To establish a sense of community within our group.

Történet

The user group was created in January 2016 and became 'real' in 2018. During and after COVID-19, the group became inactive and was put on inactive status in March 2021. After that time there have been a handful of Wikimedia meetups and events in Minnesota. In 2024 the group reformed and has been meeting quarterly and is reapplying for active status.

WikiProject Minnesota

One of the major initiatives monitored by the group is the WikiProject Minnesota page. This WikiProject was formed to coordinate the development of better articles on the U.S. state of Minnesota.

Saturday July 18, 2026 the Minnesota User Group is having a Wiknic at the Minnesota State Capitol! We will be picnicing in the shade near the Minnesota Woman Suffrage Memorial, so bring a picnic blanket, lawn chairs and a hot dish for the picnic if you like! We'll also be providing sandwiches for everyone but we encourage you to bring your own favorite dishes to share. All Minnesota Wikipedia editors and wanna-be editors are welcome! Learn more »
