| La mia dichiarazione | Ho contribuito a Wikipedia e ad altri progetti di Wikimedia fin dal febbraio 2004 e ho fatto più di ventimila edit sulla Wikipedia in polacco (prevalentemente), su quella in inglese e su Wikimedia Commons. Sono amministratore in tutti e tre i progetti, Check User sulla Wikipedia in polacco, burocrate su Commons e Steward di Wikimedia. Sono stato uno dei soci fondatori dell'Associazione Wikimedia Polonia. Francamente, negli ultimi mesi sono stato meno attivo nei progetti Wikimedia, ma non vedo l'ora di riprendere le mie attività.
Attualmente studio marketing e gestione all'Università di Economia di Breslavia, e lavoro come traduttore freelance dall'inglese al polacco (ho fatto lavori per Microsoft e Adobe). Desidero che Wikipedia resti aperta e libera, il che significa che sono a favore della limitazione al minimo dei contenuti non-liberi (ad es. le immagini in fair use). Inoltre sono generalmente a favore dei progetti paralleli a Wikipedia, ma d'altra parte credo che alcuni di essi siano stati delle pessime idee fin dall'inizio, non credo quindi che tutti meritino lo stesso livello di attenzione. Credo fortemente nel multilinguismo e nel sostegno delle comunità locali e nel coinvolgimento di un maggior numero di persone non provenienti da Stati Uniti ed Europa Occidentale nelle questioni di Wikimedia. |

Nel novembre 2006, il Direttivo, il personale dell'ufficio, e i rappresentanti delle associazioni nazionali, si incontrarono a Francoforte per tre giorni, per pianificare il futuro della Fondazione. Sette mesi dopo, cosa è stato ottenuto? Vero, lo staff è cresciuto, ma questo rende la domanda ancor più urgente: dov'è la strategia per la raccolta fondi? Dov'è la road map tecnica? Qual'è il piano per la sostenibilità? Espansione internazionale e collaborazioni possono essere eccitanti, ma il ruolo di un direttivo è quello di concentrarsi sulle questioni basilari, proteggere i beni fondamentali e assicurare che il progetto rimanga vitale e importante. Spero di concentrarmi su questo. Come utente registrato su Wikipedia fin dagli inizi del 2002, ho aiutato a dare forma ad alcune delle linee guida essenziali. Ho raccolto denaro per la Fondazione e aperto porte per far venire altri soldi nella nostra direzione. Ho anche speso quasi venti mesi lavorando negli uffici della Fondazione, e conosco intimamente i suoi meccanismi interni. Nella mia vita, ho lavorato per vari media e sia nel settore profit che in quello non-profit, e ho persino lavorato professionalmente su enciclopedie stampate. Sono orgoglioso di dichiarare che sono ancora un contributore attivo su diversi progetti. |

| La mia dichiarazione | Sono pesantemente coinvolto con en.Wikinews, dove sono anche amministratore. Ho pubblicato quasi 450 articoli su en.Wikinews, da quando vi sono entrato nel gennaio 2006. Ho anche scritto diverse interviste esclusive per Wikinews e sono stato uno degli sviluppatori per Wikinews Video 2.0 e Wikinews Weather (BETA). Ho creato 2 video promozionali per wikinews e sono stato il primo a organizzare e avviare Wikinews Weather (ancora dopo più di 2 anni e mezzo), che viene aggiornato e mantenuto da me e da un altro utente. Spero di avere molti utenti dei vari Wiki coinvolti nella trasmissione e nella registrazione di Wikinews Video e Wikinews Weather.
Il mio più grande obbiettivo a livello globale è un tentativo di far si che utenti di diversi progetti lavorino assieme su certe questioni e idee, aiutare lo sviluppo di nuovi modi di raccogliere informazioni e di sistemi più efficenti per distribuire tali informazioni al mondo. Credo che tutti i progetti di Wikimedia debbano avere la stessa attenzione quando vengono prese decisioni riguardanti regole/finanze/ecc. e che tali regole debbano conformarsi ai bisogni e agli scopi di ciascun progetto ogni volta che è possibile. Credo inoltre che le comunità di ogni progetto debbano essere più coinvolte nelle decisioni del Board che cambierebbero drasticamente il funzionamento dei loro progetti. |

| La mia dichiarazione | Ho fatto parte del Board per 9 mesi come membro eletto (si veda la mia piattaforma del 2006). In quel periodo ho anche svolto il ruolo di Segretario Esecutivo del Board. Il progresso su altri fronti si è riscaldato (compatibilità delle licenze, collaborazioni istituzionali come Encyclopedia of Life, la ricerca di un Direttore Esecutivo permanente, i piani per la prossima raccolta fondi, e così via). | La mia dichiarazione | Come membro del Board, vorrei riportare la Fondazione al suo scopo centrale: pubblicare su Internet un'enciclopedia modificabile dagli utenti. Sosterrò il trasferimento o la chiusura dei progetti che non sono Wikipedia. Mi opporrò a qualsiasi tentativo da parte della Fondazione di pubblicare i contenuti in forme diverse, come i libri. Comunque, credo che pubblicare i nostri contenuti sia importante, così che possano essere disponibili ad un pubblico più ampio, comprese le persone senza accesso a Internet. Cercherò attivamente di collaborare con altre organizzazioni che possano perseguire questo obiettivo.
Cercherò di ridurre i costi di gestione al minimo necessario, usando quanto più possibile delle nostre risorse per sostenere l'hosting Internet. Sonderò fonti di finanziamento addizionali, oltre alle donazioni degli utenti, come borse di studio, sponsorizzazioni e pubblicità. Migliorerò la nostra competenza tecnica tramite una varietà di mezzi, come l'assunzione di ulteriore personale tecnico, e assicurando di avere una chiara idea di come intendiamo espanderci per soddisfare la richiesta per i nostri contenuti. | La mia dichiarazione | Ciao, il mio nome è Kim Bruning. Sono stato in qualche modo responsabile per il recupero e il mantenimento della risoluzione delle dispute su enwiki. Al momento lavoro principalmente sui processi e occasionalmente do una mano con le emergenze. Inoltre ho codificato e aiutato su Omegawiki, a partire da quest'anno.
Per la Fondazione, le questioni legate a gestione ordinaria, server e continuità, sono importanti. Credo che su questo siamo tutti d'accordo, quindi guardiamo ad altre questioni: Ci sono attualmente 700 wiki in oltre 250 lingue e su vari progetti. La comunicazione tra questi wiki è praticamente inesistente, rendendo difficile alle persone il reciproco apprendimento. Esempi:
Abbiamo inoltre bisogno di pensare a parlare di più con altre organizzazioni non-profit. Potrebbero aver già appreso lezioni in ambiti nei quali noi stiamo ancora lottando. Quindi gestione ordinaria e miglioramento della comunicazione interna ed esterna è quello su cui vorrei lavorare nei due anni a venire. | My candidate statement | I want to see a stronger and more democratic Foundation, better guidance and assistance for volunteers, and a sharpened focus on our core goals. The Foundation needs to be stronger, in terms of its vision, its leadership of our volunteer community, its brand, and its accountability.
As a Board member, I will advocate a roadmap for our future development. I will also focus on expanding our reach outside Europe and North America, and improving collaboration and idea-sharing between wikis. We have much to learn from each other! I will respectfully promote my view that all board members should be elected. I have been a Wikipedian for 2 years. I'm an administrator on the English Wikipedia, an AWB developer, and I have co-written several Featured Articles. I have experience at a similar level to this role, having been a member of the Student Union Council and the Finance Committee at Brunel University. I live on a small farm in England. | My candidate statement | I respect what the Wikimedia Foundation has accomplished so far with limited resources and many forces pulling on it. I want to fill some of the gaps and make it a more functional organization. Finances are a constant issue, as Wikimedia must bring in more money and find new donation sources. Brand name value can help support operating funds, but this must be done carefully to preserve neutrality and also protect brands from outsiders trying to exploit them. Relationships with each project and its diverse participants need to be cultivated. The board must listen carefully to reflect the will of the community and not just the loudest voices.
Beyond working on Wikipedia articles, my Wikimedia experience has covered a variety of areas. For many, if you recognize my name it may be because I started The Wikipedia Signpost at the beginning of 2005. Although not intended as a universal news source for Wikimedia issues, it's perhaps as useful as any other source, and it has many readers from languages and projects other than just the English Wikipedia. My other Wikimedia involvement has included serving as chair of the Communications committee. As a lawyer, I have also given occasional advice to the Wikimedia Foundation, when its legal needs coincide with my ability to help. I believe that I understand the challenges and would bring a valuable perspective to the board. |

| My candidate statement | I found Wikipedia in 2004 and began quietly writing about classical music, wondering what kind of crazy person spent so much time on it. A year later I was on OTRS, a press contact, and a founding member of the Communications Committee; I was then appointed to the Board in December 2006.
I'm currently in law school, where I staff a law and economics journal. I am an intern for a nonprofit online legal education project, and a classical musician. While on the board I worked with issues including licensing policy, free content and free culture advocacy, public relations, and strategic decisions such as branding and partnership; I hope to see some of these issues through beyond the short term I've already served. My interest is for the Board to act with a long-term view of its mission in mind, and not to take actions which might compromise WMF's future. To do this we must have a clear picture of what our values are and what our mission is, and we must maintain our commitment to being a free resource so the content does not need WMF to survive. Beyond this, I see us pursuing partnerships with like-minded organizations to carry our mission beyond the scope of what Wikimedia can do. |

| My candidate statement | i am a professional composer and teacher at the rotterdam conservatory, in my professional career i have been an interim manager for years as well. having been appointed as an elected community-member to the expanded board of trustees in december 2006, i had the honor to serve a 6 month term since (see further explanation). having grown up from the projects, i became a sysop at nlwiki in may 2004, on meta in april 2005, and have been a steward since june 2005; i was founding and first president of wikimedia nederland, a member of the now dormant special projects committee, and currently chair of the audit committee. i have tried my best to still keep in touch with as many of basic things as possible going on in the projects, not an easy job for a busy board member. in the frankfurt board retreat of 2006 (see my report) i compared wikimedia to a giant with feet of clay, this has been my main worry and concern: to consolidate the organisation of volunteers (like i myself am) with a core of newly hired skilled people, which supports our further growth into the future and remain an independent organization. since this is only partly accomplished, i would like to further contribute to the next steps, which will enhance our growth and outreach, our quality and stability, our independence and responsibility. |

| My candidate statement | I've been involved for over four years, now, and have held a variety of volunteer posts with ENWP and with the Foundation. I was probably best known for my OTRS work up until my recent election to the ENWP arbitration committee. I work as a software development manager and as a semiprofessional musician in addition to my volunteer work.
In essence, the purpose of my candidacy is to bring a higher degree of professionalism to the Board of Trustees and the daily operations of the Foundation. The Foundation needs to attract large donors to maintain solvency without resorting to advertising. To attract large donors, the leadership of the Foundation from the Board on down must be professional and responsible, and must be able to reconcile the unique values of the constituent projects with the expectations of the donor community. This will involve bylaws changes to assure donors that future boards will be well qualified. It will also require that we make the Executive Director position an attractive one to the top-flight talent we want. That will mean more delegation and will require a board that is comfortable leading rather than doing. As a member of the Board of Trustees, my work would be directed almost exclusively towards making these changes. |

| My candidate statement | I have been a Wikimedia contributor for nearly 2.5 years. Since then I have made thousands of edits and deletions both on commons and pl.wiki. Now my direct contributions in projects are low, but I'm working on getting photo-passes on different events for making photos for Wikimedia (eg. the Metalmania festival) which consumes lots of time. In December 2006 I was elected for Board Member of Wikimedia Polska Association. I am the author of the Wikimedia Community Logo, used as the logo of Planet Wikimedia  . My goal in the Board would be to make it more aware of the situation in post-communist countries, being not as rich as the western countries which dominate in the current Board. |

| My candidate statement | I have been involved in Wikimedia projects since December 2002 (4.5 years), mainly on Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Commons and Wikisource. I am one of the early contributors of Wikisource, from when it was still called Project Sourceberg. I am admin on about a dozen Wikimedia projects and steward since June 2005. I proposed the creation of Wikimédia France in November 2003, of which I was secretary in 2004-2005.
I am a computer professional specialized in free software since 1998. Before that I worked for 10 years with NGOs on humanitarian, social and cultural projects. I would like to bring my experience of non-profit organizations and free culture movement to the service of Wikimedia Foundation. I would like the Foundation to be an influential organization, to bring free knowledge far and wide. My main input would be working on financial independence. |

| My candidate statement | Wikipedia is an absolutely phenomenal thing. The Wikimedia Foundation exists to support both Wikipedia and its many sister projects by providing both financial and infrastructural support. It stands to reason that we need people on the Board who understand what we're really here for--providing as much freely-licensed content to as many people as possible in their own native language. The Board of Directors should have, nay, needs to have people who are as closely aligned with this guiding principle as possible. As a board member, I would strive to play towards my individual strengths of management, technical know-how, and my ability to communicate with others. However, none of us must ever be too proud to not stop and ask for help; be it from outside help, developers, local administrators, and even the normal day-to-day contributors--both registered and anonymous. I believe many times those involved "higher-up" in the running of the Foundation can, at times, lose sight of that core policy I highlighted. This is something I promise to never do.
I believe that the Foundation is currently making a major mistake on what has recently to me become a very major issue. The WMF has long held a policy of "No Open Proxies" allowed for editing. The feeling has often been that quite a large amount of vandalism is coming from such proxies. The ability has long existed for us to be able to soft-block those proxies (in that registered users can edit, but anonymous ones cannot). For quite some time, Tor was soft-blocked. However, earlier this year, unilateral action was taken to hard block all of these proxies, preventing even valuable users from being able to contribute. When Board members were contacted, they did nothing. Rather, Jimbo encouraged discussion, which got nowhere due to a set mindset that is impossible to break. In the meantime, other users were mowed down for this same issue. Are we to allow the projects to lose highly valuable and valued contributors simply because the Foundation will not act? If I am elected, I would like to have the issue visited at a Foundation-level. While we may not see the results I would prefer, I would like to see the Foundation at least exert effort to see if this policy does in fact need revising, rather than the lack of action by anyone. |

Regole per i candidati

I candidati per l'elezione al Board di Wikimedia dovrebbero aggiungersi e presentarsi in questa pagina prima delle 23:59 del 23 Giugno 2007 (UTC). Tre di loro verranno eletti con un mandato che durerà fino al giugno del 2009.
Per essere eleggibile come candidato, bisogna avere almeno 400 edit su un progetto Wikimedia, gli edit dovranno essere effettuati con lo stesso account e il primo edit deve risalire almeno ad un anno prima delle 00:00 del 1 Giugno 2007 (UTC). I candidati devono avere almeno 18 anni di età e devono rivelare la loro vera identità. Per ragioni legali, non è possibile ottenere una posizione al board mantenendo l'anonimato oppure tramite uno pseudomino. I candidati dovrebbero essere consci degli obblighi che deve adempiere un membro del Board (vedi anche FAQ). Inoltre, i candidati dovrebbero essere a conoscenza che l'appartenenza al Direttivo non è una carica retribuita, come definito nello statuto di Wikimedia.
Oltre a rispettare queste condizioni, il candidato deve anche essere supportato da un adeguato numero di elettori qui: Board elections/2007/Endorsements.
Per confermare queste candidature, i candidati devono aver attivato l'invio di e-mail (nelle preferenze) anche su meta oltre che sul progetto comunemente usato. I candidati che non avranno fatto questo (identità non confermata) verranno squalificati.
Non è possibile occupare una posizione nel Board in forma anonima, per questo candidatevi solamente se siete disposti a rivelare la vostra vera identità. I candidati dovranno identificarsi presso il Comitato elettorale o presso un altro individuo appositamente designato, a meno che non si siano già identificati in occasione di precedenti elezioni per il Board. Verrete contattati e vi saranno forniti ulteriori dettagli. I candidati che sono stati confermati da uno dei membri del comitato di elezione o dai loro delegati avranno il loro nome messio in evidenza (grassetto).
Per quanto riguarda la presentazione del candidato, le regole sono le seguenti:
- Ciascun candidato dovrebbe presentarsi con un messaggio che non superi i 1.200 caratteri nella sua lingua madre.
- Il comitato elettorale cerchherà di fare si che i primi 1.200 di ogni presentazione vengano tradotti nel maggior numero possibile di lingue.
- I candidati possono scrivere una piattaforma personale come presentazione aggiuntiva. Il link alla piattaforma può essere incluso nella presentazione ufficiale.
- I candidati possono chiedere individualmente le traduzioni. Per ottenere aiuto nella traduzione è possibile utilizzare strumenti come Babylon o altre forme di comunicazione; Per maggiori informazioni guardare Translation.
Per favore copiate il modello e inserite le seguenti informazioni. Per evitare di dare preferenza a un candidato piuttosto che ad un altro, si prega di mantenerli in ordine alfabetico, secondo l'Unicode Collation Algorithm.
La Guida di riferimento sulla presentazione delle candidature ti sarà d'aiuto per mostrare la tua presentazione al pubblico. D'altra parte, è un testo che rappresenta le opinioni di alcuni membri del comitato elettorale, quindi non fa parte delle note e dei documenti ufficiali del comitato elettorale. Ai candidati, tenete presente che non vi è garanzia di traduzione, dato che essa dipende da volontari. Il comitato di elezione cercherà di dare il meglio per motivare i volontari di Wikimedia ad impegnarsi nelle traduzioni.
