This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

  • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
  • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
  • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

2. Fill in the values:

  • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
  • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
  • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

I have been working at Hindi wikipedia for so long with much of contribution, which can be seen by admin tools, I need not state them. Alongwith working as Admin & thereafter as Bureaucrat for long. Offcourse for last one year my contributions sufferred due to some personal reasons. Still I promise to abide by the policies & contribute towards editing as well as the Admin tasks in future. Request for Admin Rights, as for good editing it is required to have many rights, as deletion, protection, removal of protection & much more. Here it is to be noted that I have been elected by nomination (pls refer this nomination).

  • Just want to enquire that why the dormant sysops पूर्णिमा वर्मन & Munita Prasad have been retained as sysops here (refer) who have been out of any activity so long?
Unfortunately, we cannot track every admin on every project. If you can show that there are people on your project who, according to your own wiki rules, are no longer eligible for being sysops, please file a request for removal below. Also, please make sure you link to the discussion on your project where the removal was reviewed. Thanks for the attention & grant. I actually requested for permanent sysops rights only, but missed to state the same. Actually we at hi.wikipedia generally used to grant permanent adminships, thats why I took missed to state the permanent word. Thats why I had also stated the link to the consensus at hi.wiki. While the project decides whether 8 votes is enough for adminship, I've gone ahead and flagged this editor since its RfA has been opened for a week, has ten or more than ten support votes and a 75% support or higher so this promotion oughtn't be controversial. Given the consensus to reconfirm all elected admins in this first bach, this is set as temporary here. While the reconfirmations can and should be done internally, Wikimedia Stewards wants to keep track of all requests and their status. A strong consensus has formed at http://wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:Administrators#Reconfirmation_for_initial_wave_of_admins that these admin rights should be reconfirmed in 3 months' time. However, since there is a large community active at Wikidata, I would expect the project to handle this reconfirmation internally. I don't believe the formal "temporary sysop" procedure needs to be followed in this case.

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or, for requests regarding English Wikipedia email oversight-en-wp@wikipedia.org. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

  • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards prefer to allocate transwiki import rights rather then import rights, and for tewiki I do not see that there are transwiki rights set up in the initialisation.
