2015 English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee Election

Hey Stewards,

Once again, the ArbCom election is coming up quickly, and we need 3 stewards to volunteer to serve as scrutineers. Please read the instructions for further information. We would prefer if scrutineers do not have much involvement with enwiki (although this is less of an issue this year), and did not do the task last year (Barras, Trijnstel, and Matanya), in order to help preserve the integrity of the election. Coordination with the election commission will occur here. The current timetable will have voting between 23 November and 7th December - This year, a slight change means we would like as much of the scrutineering carried out during the voting period as possible, so the results can be announced on time, if not early. Of course, all offers will merit cookies and/or kittens. Please feel free to contact myself or the other members of the election commission (MikeV or Guy Macon) if you have any questions. Thanks in advance, Mdann52 (talk) 14:41, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have been scrutineer for enwiki arbcom election before and would be happy if I could help the community again Mardetanha talk 05:40, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to be reserve, as I know that it is preferred that existing, though non-political, admins are not first chosen.  — billinghurst sDrewth 07:21, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I will say no unless nobody else wants to. I'm not an en.wiki admin, or particularly involved in the "political" side of the project, but I am still very active there. QuiteUnusual (talk) 14:04, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I will be available during that time-frame, incase if no one else wants to, I would be happy to help :-) --Shanmugamp7 (talk) 14:19, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I served last year, but if there is a need i can serve again. Matanya (talk) 15:15, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can also help. einsbor talk 15:38, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request

In this Discussion, Meta has advised me that: Just try to get unblocked your account. Why don't you ask help for that from Stewards?. Once again I am writing here. In addition, what should I do? Again, I have to wait 1-2 years? Thanks in advance. --Idin Mammadof 12:07, 2 November 2015‎ ‎ (UTC)

Not done This is a matter for the Azerbaijani wikipedia community, not a matter for stewards. Our role and purpose is explained at Stewards and overriding admins at a wiki is not one of those matters.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:29, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@billinghurst:Thanks. What should I do now? Once again, writing on the Meta noticeboard? --Idin Mammadof 14:46, 3 November 2015‎ ‎ (UTC)

Help needed

Hi,

Thanks for the help you extended to my previous requests.

It is sad that Khalid, admin of Western Punjabi (PNB) Wikipedia died on October 31 .He was the lone admin.

In order to smoothly run the show, User:Abbas dhothar proposed his name on the village pump at this link:pnb:ویونت:بیٹھک#Adminship

Polling has already started.

One of the users said that there is a need for separate admin poll page (like in the case of Hiwiki or Urwiki)

Pnb be represents a small society. 4 votes are already cast in favour of Abbas

I suggested that the stewards see is whether the candidate has the community support or not. Once he is the admin, he can think about having other project pages on the Wiki.

Please advice.

How to get admin action on chy.wikipedia

Apparently, there are no administrators registered on the chy.wikipedia. Where does one go to get pages deleted? In particular, this page, as well as being vandalism, it is in English, which is contrary to the rules posted on the wiki at chy:Help:How to contribute effectively. Active spambot account creations

There is an active spambot creating "real estate" accounts on small wikis. This could be possibly stopped with an abuse filter or normal lock/CU/gblock. The regex for account names is "^(Agent|Property|Real-?estate(property)?|Home|House|Housing)(guy|dude|chap|pro|ace|star|wiz|boy|man|girl|lady|tech|expert)s? ?[0-9]{2}$". Here is a list of the accounts created so far (ignore the ones before Nov 6, they are real people). Just a heads up, to let you know something is going on. PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:55, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edited regex to find about 50 accounts the previous one didn't. PiRSquared17 (talk) 19:36, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have locked the accounts in the list. Thanks for the report, PiRSquared17. --Bsadowski1 (talk) 16:33, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
