This page hosts requests for a Bot flag on a Wikimedia wiki with no bureaucrats. Please read the instructions before posting a request. Request to remove own permission should be done in SRP.

Please only make request here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community (i.e., don't list your bot here if you haven't consulted the local wiki for at least a week, or whatever local policies dictate). Previous requests are archived.

Instructions

Before posting here

Before posting here, please check the following points:

  1. If there is a bureaucrat on the local wiki (visit Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat on the wiki to check): Please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:UserRights on the relevant wiki.
  2. Before requesting access here, make sure to obtain consensus on the local wiki if there is a community (see the index of request pages). If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect. You can ask local bot flag directly here for some wikis in some cases (see automatic approval).
  3. Remember to read the local project's bot policy. This should be linked from the local bot request page; a few are listed below. DO NOT post your request here without having fulfilled the local policies first, and having waited for at least a week to gauge community opinion. In the case that the project does not have a local bot policy, the global bot policy applies.

Making a request

  1. Place the following code at the bottom of the "Bot status requests" section below:
    === Bot name@xxproject ===
    {{sr-request
    | status = <!--don't change this line-->
    | domain =
    | user name =
    | discussion =
    }}
    (your remarks) ~~~~

    You can use following form when applying global bot status:

    === Global bot status for <yourbotname> ===
    {{sr-request
    | status = <!--don't change this line-->
    | domain = global<!--don't change this line-->
    | user name =
    | discussion =
    }}
    {{indent|''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''}}
    (your remarks) ~~~~

  2. Fill in the values:
    • 'domain': the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
    • 'user name': the bot's user name (like "ExampleBot"). Leave it blank if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
    • 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the bot (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Bots#ExampleBot]]"). Notes: If there is no local vote or discussion, please say so below the template and explain why not. If there's no community, implement the standard bot policy instead.
  3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Global bot status requests

Global bots are enabled on most wikis using the standard bot policy (see list of global bot wikis and global bot access requirements). Request will typically be left open for several days to allow comments. Please add requests at the bottom of this section.

Global bot status for User:Addbot

The bot will remove interwiki links from projects where the links can be found on Wikidata as it is rolled out. The code is currently running approved on ENwiki. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 23:37, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid your bot does not satisfy the requirements of the global bot policy, namely "the bot must already be active on several wikis, with long-term contributions to back up its trustworthiness." as it is only active on one wiki. Snowolf How can I help? 06:19, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found out tonight that a lot of bot request pages have an English translation - there's probably enough so that you can get enough for a global bot. --Rschen7754 10:06, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Currently running on EN and HE wiki and in the new few days this is likely to grow further. The code used in the global section of the bot is the same as the code that has so far made nearly 500,000 edits on EN wiki and is currently running across every article in HE wiki. The only thing that changes in this code from language to language is the edit summary. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:08, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please see completed run at w:he:מיוחד:תרומות/Addbot. Looking to be ready to deal with the rollout of wikidata in a weeks time. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 06:53, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Will your bot only remove interwikis from the main namespace? Regards. --invadinado (TALK - SUL) 12:01, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, any namespace that is included on wikidata (Article, cats, templates and project) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:18, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Global bot status for Legobot

Legobot tag-teams with Addbot on enwp and hewp right now on removing interwiki links. It's a bit slower but is more thorough, since it checks for redirects and imports onto Wikidata. The code has been significantly tested outside of those two wikis with my checker.py webtool, and other wikidata bot tasks. Legoktm (talk) 07:13, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Will your bot only remove interwikis from the main namespace? Regards. --invadinado (TALK - SUL) 12:01, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, it will remove them from any page that is not in the userspace, per d:Wikidata:Notability. Legoktm (talk) 12:04, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of bot status

If a specific user is abusing his/her bot status, you may request removal of the status on his account here. Please be sure to provide a short explanation on the current situation, along with links to the bot's contribution and an announcement in your community of the abuse. Previous requests are archived.

Removal of global bot status

Please see the policy for global bots for the requirements that must be met for global bot access.

Bot status requests

Please add new requests at the bottom of this section.

Bot operators making bulk requests, please consider applying for global bot status and helping implement the standard bot policy on small wikis to simplify and streamline the bulk request process.

Bot KartikBot@gu.wikipedia

I added Infobox to many pages using my normal account and then realize that we need Bot for this. Please approve this bot for adding Infobox to every village page at Gujarati wikipedia KartikMistry (talk) 05:21, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Plese contact local bureaucrats--Shizhao (talk) 06:09, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The only bureaucrat there is inactive after 2011-11-18. I am asking locally and on English Wikipedia and waiting for a week til 2013-01-07.--Jusjih (talk) 11:01, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Flag KartikBot or KartikMistry?--Shizhao (talk) 15:03, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously not the main account but the bot account, hence KartikBot. Snowolf How can I help? 07:49, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please do some sort of test run so that we can see that the bot works properly. Snowolf How can I help? 07:57, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for no test runs.--Jusjih (talk) 09:23, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Samkbot@guwikipedia

I am active contributor to Gujarati Wikipedia. For spelling checks and fixing grammatical errors, i want bot and therefore bot flag. Thanks!
PS: Our wikipedia has one bureaucrat, but i think right now he is not active. --Sam.ldite (talk) 20:33, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Sam! :-) Please start a thread on the local discussion page (w:gu:w:gu:વિકિપીડિયા:ચોતરો (અન્ય)) to get community consensus for flagging the bot. After about a week, if there is no reason for concern, this can be granted. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:05, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see you started a discussion, that's great.  On hold until 8 March. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 22:25, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BaseBot@ukwikinews

We have no local rule to hold such requests for 7 days and it has support from active users and no objections. --Base (talk) 13:32, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
