Regarding Talk:Terms of Use

Would it be possible to add section anchors, in order to have reliable internationalised links in multilingual pages? (see mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_administration for explanations).

Regarding Talk:Wikimedia trademarks

Trademark aside, what is the copyright status of the MediaWiki logo? The Commons descriptions are conflicting. Every other logo has copyright info except this one... which is the most important, IMO, due to it be in the wiki software. 108.59.8.208 03:46, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

@Mdennis (WMF): Can you shed any light on this? Peter Coombe (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 19:05, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Checking with legal, Peter. :) There's no indication what the license may be at wmf:Wikimedia trademarks. --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 20:19, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Legal indicates that the logo was donated to the public domain by its creators, User:Eloquence and User:Anthere. --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 20:36, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Maggie! I've added this on the wmf:Wikimedia trademarks page, and put in an edit request to correct the license at commons:File:MediaWiki-notext.svg since it's protected and I don't have admin on Commons. Peter Coombe (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 16:33, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes we did. Anthere (talk)
I am so glad to see this longtime question resolved -- thank you all! Mdennis (WMF) Anthere Eloquence etc. It would be nice to get clarity on all the logos -- mainly because it will serve as a nice example of the WMF demonstrating permissive behavior around copyright, and not entangling the logos with more legal issues than they need. (Trademark is of course legit, but IMO there is no benefit in attaching a copyright license -- even a free one -- to a logo.) -Pete F (talk) 03:10, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Ways to Give

I find the translation/wording in the Dutch version off on one particular sentence. The English version of the Legacy paragraph states "a donation of any amount", while the Dutch has "een willekeurig bedrag" (a random amount)

Although I don't think a lot of people will believe the amount will be arbitrarily chosen without their approval, the two phrases don't seem interchangeable to me in this instance. Surely something along the lines of "een zelfgekozen bedrag"/"an amount of your own choosing" would be more appropriate and less ambiguous.

Also, seeing some broken link code and overly English terms ("charitatieve" instead of "liefdadigheid") I suspect the entire Dutch version could benefit from some extra attention. OmikronWeapon (talk) 14:27, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Ik heb wat aanpassingen gedaan, onder andere wat u voorstelde. Maar het blijft een slechte pagina jammer genoeg. --Walter (talk) 10:00, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Concerning Jack Coe the healing Evangelist Evangelist of the 1950s. You have his birthplace wrong and you have the date of his death. he was not born in Oklahoma City. He was born in oil city Pennsylvania and he died December 19, 1956. I know because I am his only son you can reach me at Jackcoe@me.com When you have a donation that is wrong the history is wrong. The place to comment is here. I note that his obituary was published on 17 December 1956, and refers to a report of his death on the 16th.. Thanks for your help. Rich Farmbrough 14:34 6 April 2016 (GMT).

You License Freely Your Contributions

This is not good English. An adverb does not normally go between the verb and the object. "You Freely License Your Contributions" is a better form. --Heron (talk) 09:31, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, I mistakenly deleted the address of the page I was commenting on. It's https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Terms_of_Use. --Heron (talk) 09:40, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
I do agree that the grammar is incorrect. However, I suggest updating Meta's version first and the legal department will sync it over after they check. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 04:09, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Actually this is probably best not swapped. You could, after all, freely license them under a restrictive license. Perhaps "Your contributions are under a free license." or "You contribute under a free license." Rich Farmbrough 14:42 6 April 2016 (GMT).

Regarding wikimediafoundation.org

What are the possibilities of federal funding? Our nation brags about Benjamin Franklin's accomplishments, one of which was to establish free public libraries. It doesn't seem out of reach that public library funding could be shared by Wikipedia. this idea could spread to other free nations who might see the value of this idea. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 107.214.118.127 (talk) 20:45, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Regarding Talk:FAQ/en

Just a note, someone posted this on mediawiki.org:

HI,

So, you are the only one I found to 'reply' to. I just attempted to donate $100 to Wikipedia. (I know, not much.) Your site required my address. Without my giving you my address, I could not proceed. You do not need my address for me to contribute.

Thanks for hearing me out,

I'm wondering why email address is needed to make a donation. Please, don't reply to me, but include in the FAQ why an email address is required to donate. Thanks, --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 15:08, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Regarding wikimediafoundation.org

Why not sell hard copies of annual, or at least semi-regular editions of a physical Wikipedia encyclopedia, and use that as a way to raise funds, instead of having regular fundraisers, or as a subsistence substitute? You could make products that people would buy, just by compiling what's been contributed to the site - and make money that way. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.35.122.6 (talk) 06:37, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

Regarding Talk:FAQ/es

Hi! I´m a spanish wikipedian and while reading the Wikimedia FAQ in Spanish (https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/FAQ/es)I noticed some grammatical mistakes or mistraslations:

It is necessary to change:

  • "proyectos-hemano" by "proyectos hermanos"
  • "estrategicas" by "estratégicas"
  • "leectores" by "lectores" (three times)
  • "intelegentes" by "inteligentes"
  • "mobil" by "móvil"
  • "intelientes" by "inteligentes"
  • "desiciones" by "decisiones" (twice)
  • "traqbajar" by "trabajar"
  • "relacioinada" by "relacionada"
  • " ses bas prioritariamente en donations" by "se basa principalmente en donaciones"
  • "l estatos" by ¿status?

Thanks a lot!

I just spent like an hour reflowing that page. If you could please give it a fresh look that would be nice. I synced it with the English page. Some of the content I had to translate myself. I'm not a native speaker, so I won't be offended if something is wrong. :) Killiondude (talk) 23:51, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
Wow! Very good job! I´m really thankful!!!!!
In Spanish "Fundación" has female gender so I would say "...no está afiliada..."
It is necessary to change:
  • "poryectos" by "proyectos",
  • "Necesitamos asegurarse" by "Necesitamos asegurarnos",
  • correct the link to Wikipedia Zero,
Thank you very much. Is really nice to colaborate with people to make this proyect better!!!!--Javiermes (talk) 15:21, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Muchas gracias. Asegurarnos fue un error horrible que pude ver si yo prestaba atención. Igual con "poryectos". :) Con las dos últimas, me sentía que no fueron bien. Si hay otras páginas con errores me puedes pedir. Killiondude (talk) 05:25, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Home article on Ogham

The article on Ogham has a note that a citation is needed to the origins of Ogham in the Latin alphabet; I have a reliable and respected source for the claim: Anne Ross (1970) Everyday Life of the Pagan Celts. London: Batsford. Unfortunately I have can't find the means of adding it to the article, although I have been on an extensive journey through the Wikipedia links. Regarding wikimediafoundation.org

I believe a standard safety policy would be in the benefit of Wikipedia AND Wikimedia. Remember : Wikipedia or Wikimedia is not ment to condone violence, but only historical facts which were right at that moment. Even as there are claims as "we do not garantee failures" in some countries these claims are invalid. You see if you are starting or even editing an article but the info you sent and is available for the whole world to see this does not mean you have no responsability or behave like God. I would like this to be added to Wikipedia. To prevent it to be used by criminals who do not care about human life in other religions for example. There should be introduced a special lock on such pages, to prevent wrong information in a widely spread succesfull encyclopedia. Just look up Salafism (for example) and compare Christianity 1400 years ago ? We should be very carefull even on a encyclopedic super initiative ! We embrace life and want to enjoy it together, not destroy it —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 5.132.67.116 (talk) 07:32, 6 January 2016

So, at the bottom of the press release, it says that "Every month roughly 75,000 people edit Wikipedia". This is probably an error, given that last month 115,000 registered users have edited the English Wikipedia alone in the past month...

(Also, someone should probably fix the link to the feedback page so that it doesn't include the "Talk:" bits. --Yair rand (talk) 19:59, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Good point Yair rand. I'm not comfortable editing a published press release, though. This one should be addressed to the Communications team at WMF. Katherine (WMF), who's the best person to direct concerns like this to? -Pete F (talk) 19:20, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Hi Peteforsyth and Yair rand. Thanks for flagging. We usually qualify that the 75,000 or 80,000 number refers to active editors. We will take a look and make appropriate clarifications! Katherine (WMF) (talk) 19:24, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, NE Ent. :) As you probably know, we've just filled the long-vacant CFO seat, but that may not relate to your question. I always look to see when the last one was prepared to give me a clue whether the new one is overdue. The 2013-2014 990 was completed in April 2015. The 2012-2013 990 was completed in April 2014. I suspect we'll be seeing the next 990 in April 2016. :) --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 13:15, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

"Vote:" vs. "Resolution:" pseudo-namespaces on Foundation Wiki

Hi, I'm not sure where to seek guidance on this. It's a good example, though, of the less-than-diligent curation of the Foundation wiki, which is under discussion at the Wikimedia Foundation transparency gap.

Many pages, e.g. wmf:Vote:Movement accountability standards, use the prefix "Vote:", while others (more of them, I believe, at least in recent history) use the prefix "Resolution:"

Is there any actual difference? Any reason I shouldn't rename all those starting with "Vote:" to "Resolution:"? (And while we're at it -- shouldn't this be an actual namespace, so it could be more easily searchable on its own?) -Pete F (talk) 19:23, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Pinging Slaporte (WMF) and KFrancis (WMF), two staff who have recently created both "Resolution:" and "Vote:" pages. Is there a meaningful distinction that should be preserved here? If so, maybe there's a good way to document it (e.g. in the category tree)? -Pete F (talk) 03:41, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Re-pinging Slaporte (WMF) and KFrancis (WMF) -- can you speak to whether there is an actual difference in things recorded as a "Vote:" vs. a "Resolution:" ? -Pete F (talk) 06:26, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Hi Pete, decisions starting with "Resolution:" and "Vote:" are both actions of the Board of Trustees. Now, the Board normally only uses "Vote:" for approving minutes, and other actions start with "Resolution:". I'd prefer to keep the pages the way they are on the Foundation wiki to preserve a consistent historical record, though. I can also look into making these a real namesapce, if that makes it easier to use, and see if there is a reason to continue using "Vote:" to approve minutes in the future. Stephen LaPorte (WMF) (talk) 22:11, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Slaporte (WMF). The "Vote:"/"Resolution:" thing seems to me like a distinction without a difference -- probably better handled, for instance, by categorization than by a different naming scheme. It also has been very inconsistent in its use, if minutes approval is the intended use. It seems to me that in an ideal world, everything the Board approves should be browsable/searchable, and putting minutes approval into a separate area hinders that.
I see these as related, because if creating a new namespace, it seems best (both technically and conceptually) if "Resolutions" and "Votes" were combined first. Putting them in a "real" namespace makes it much easier to search them, without getting results from main space. -Pete F (talk) 23:55, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Delete "current events" page?

The wmf:Current events page has not bee updated in English since 2012, or in French since 2009. I believe it is entirely redundant of information that is available on Meta and/or on other parts of WMF wiki. (This should be explored more thoroughly, of course.) Should the page be deleted, assuming it contains no unique information? -Pete F (talk) 21:01, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Regarding wikimediafoundation.org

I had enjoyed Wikipedia since its inception. However it has recently become a tool for long winded self publicical auto biographies. Instead of accurate information and positive contributions it is as though all content is written by individuals publicists.More akin to garbage like Ok magazine. Everything the subject does not want included is totally ignored, especially age. It has on one hand diluted expected information and replaced this with long winded self congratuistal drivel. A clean up is desirable. Kind regards Roland Dekker —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.129.8.113 (talk) 10:22, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Talk:Friendly space policy

"The Wikimedia Foundation is dedicated to providing a harassment-free venue and conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, physical appearance, age, race, ethnicity, political affiliation, national origin, or religion—and not limited to these aspects." Somewhat surprised, therefore, to find meetups being organized in venues that are not accessible for people with mobility difficulties. DrArsenal (talk) 18:58, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Without an indication of what event you're referring to DrArsenal, it's impossible for anybody to address your concern. Is it an official Wikimedia Foundation event, or one organized by a different organization, or by a group of volunteers? Only in the first case is it directly relevant to this page. -Pete F (talk) 20:50, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Pete F, it was a regional meetup of wiki editors that was publicized via the listings at the top of talk pages, if that helps. DrArsenal (talk) 09:18, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

DrArsenal, It sound like there might be some room for improvement, but you should start with the actual event organizers. This page is for feedback on one specific web site in the Wikimedia landscape. I wish I could tell you a better place to take your concern, but without knowing what event you're referring to or even what region you live in, I'm at a loss. If there is any WMF department that could help, I believe it would be Trust & Safety. I hope that helps a little. -Pete F (talk) 16:29, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Sorry - I have my reasons for not contacting the event organisers for now/direct. How do I contact Trust & Safety, please? DrArsenal (talk) 09:43, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Board of Trustees

It would be great if the little infobox for each member could also specify what type of seat they are holding i.e. founder, chapter/thematic, community, board (appointed) /Lokal Profil (talk) 14:54, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Lokal Profil. If you can make a list of the associations and let me know what exact text should appear in the infoboxes, I can probably make this change. --MZMcBride (talk) 16:56, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't actually know which board member occupies which seat (which is why I thought the information would be useful). As for text simply "Seat: Founder/Board appointed/Community appointed/Chapter appointed" should work. The last should probably be "Chapter/Thematic organization" (which is fairly long) but I don't know of a good collective word to use for them both (which still excludes user groups). /Lokal Profil (talk) 20:20, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
We have a page on metawiki containing this information, namely Board of Trustees. I think that can be used for reference when implementing the proposed change to foundationwiki. --Vogone (talk) 20:13, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Talk:Cookie statement

The table is missing many cookies. Also the bit about third party cookies is extremely misleading. I do not think it is proper to redefine the term third party cookie to something other then its usual technical definition, and then claim we don't use third party cookies because of a subtle definition change. Bawolff (talk) 19:04, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you Bawolff. I don't know the technical ins-and-outs of this, but it sounds like something that should be documented somewhere that it won't just be archived due to lack of response. Perhaps a phabricator ticket? -Pete F (talk) 06:23, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Looking at wmf:Special:ListUsers/BWolff (WMF), Brian has a staff account and can update this page himself, I believe. Bawolff: if you want a volunteer account, we can also make one of those for you. --MZMcBride (talk) 16:53, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
hmm interesting. I didnt even realize I had a staff account on that wiki. However, the cookie statement seems like a very "legal" document. Im unclear if its considered socially acceptable for me to make edits to it. (Not to mention complaining is easier than fixing ;) Bawolff (talk) 19:53, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Bawolff, Welcome to the uncertainty that all of us with accounts there feel :) Comments and complaints here routinely disappear into the archive with no response whatsoever -- even when staff are pinged directly. Seems like an issue that software like Phabricator was designed, in part, to address. I'm starting to wonder if a general move of this page to a better tool might be worthwhile. Thoughts? -Pete F (talk) 22:51, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

I guess the direct answer is that Maggie works for the Wikimedia Foundation, and you (I assume) don't. You don't have to be a staff member to get an account, but you do have to have a pretty good reason. This page is, as far as I know, almost exclusively watched by volunteers (with narrow exceptions during fund-raising season). That's a problem, of course, but not one I know how to solve. I rather doubt that anyone in a position to make a legitimate/authoritative change will see this comment; perhaps better to directly ping those who are. Jimbo Wales? GeoffBrigham (WMF)?
And, Vogone, if you see specific parts that should be fixed, it's probably best to call them out specifically. -Pete F (talk) 16:43, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Discovery looks to me like a good idea

I support the Wikimedia Discovery thought. I came across some controversy around it. The secrecy may have been ill-advised if the purpose was to keep Google or other likely competitors from finding out, but maybe even the brief secrecy bought some time. The previous Wikia attempt may simply be part of Discovery's history to learn from, not a bad thing. Maybe the most potent objection is the use of Foundation resources on search rather than on other desires. I don't know if other Foundation desires should get higher priority, but I didn't see any identified to that end. However, if Google's use of Wikimedia content is causing a loss of visitors and thus of donations, then Wikimedia needs to do something to compensate and this may be one way. Nonprofits are often advised to stay on top of challenges and not just ask for donations for more of the same, and one way is to create more ways of being useful. It looks to me that ask.com with only two percent of the search market and, in my opinion based on just a few searches, largely useless results has been around so long that it must be profitable. If Wikimedia can get even the same share (I understand its goal is five percent) and also be more useful, all the better. And I like Google, which clearly, I think, has a high-quality hard-to-equal search service (Bing may be okay but is not notably better, in my limited opinion), and I use Google a lot and I do a little business with Google, yet I still basically agree with the Foundation's pursuit of this direction. Indeed, Wikimedia's entry into the search space may also improve Google, and that's even better for users. Nick Levinson (talk) 01:50, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

On the situation in the Azerbaijani part of Wikipedia

According to VP:VQSV, quote:

"Regardless of a user's status he/she can edit rules of Wikipedia that were not officially adopted, create articles related to the rules and hold elections to officially adopt rules."

Users prepared rules regarding Arbitration Committee and held a electionon about it. Approximately 20 users took part in it. When 4 days were left before the end of the elections one of the sysop but the vote on it was stopped before its time, as I understand and it didn't have any official result (neither positive, nor negative), which goes against the rules. Please, restore the elections.

Regarding contributing

LS,

Recently i answered your request for a contribution to the good work. I was happy to donate a small amount. Your request came from the English language platform. I also occasionally use the Dutch version and due to that, this morning again an appeal to my wallet was made. Is there any financial connection between the two versions? Can i expect a German apply too, perhaps? Maybe there is a way in which users like me could spread their support evenly over the different language departments?

--Walter (talk) 10:39, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Are cookies really used this way? REason I am writing is that there is no mention of the WWIN SHOW OR WWINSHOW.COM SITE AND I thought it would be a significant inclusion to your colorful and illustrious Wikipedia.org, especially because women's fashion is the most colorful and illustrious of all of modern and contemporary mankind. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.54.182.175 (talk) 09:40, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Re: Wiki Commons

Good Evening,

Per your site. And I quote: "Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. That’s our commitment."

Have you read your own philosophy?

Is this your commitment?

If so, how can you accept deletions or revisions from other than the author?

Individuals from all strata may do entries differently. They offer what they consider valid information to help investigate the truth!

Are you saying: That upper class species may devaluate a different class's entry? Are you sure that goes with your original mission statement?

All sentient beings have a given right to express and relate to meld conceptual ideas, and norms.

Just stop your EDIT! Especially since you have a disclaimer for your ignorance in amending a persons' entry.

If an entry is in question... let the people (who questioned the entry) arbitrate with the writer(s) of the entry. Let the people decide what may or may not be of import.

History should be history, and not someone's' or some organizations' idea of history.*

Thank you, Kitcheetch

Too many guidelines. Too many... do it this way... not that way. Too many 'this is the way you can discredit people' and "meddle in other peoples' offerings and posts"! Do let input be input. And not let input be discredited by educational differences!

Please stop adding addendums to your mission statement: "Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. That’s our commitment."

Do offer an open agenda.

Wikimedia editors become personal on some celebrities and are quick to malign some by lifting one sided controversies straight from tabloid journalism and if your source is IMDb they aren't so libelous as some editors of Wikimedia.

Me Sameer am an hardcore Mamta Kulkarni fan and have cuttings of all tabloid articles of her Producers, Directors, Co-stars,

I happened to go through her career and biography was taken a back by that you guys started by saying she had several success and you write her several films with all top stars you write that, then you end the biography by saying she refused 10-15 films with big projects with top stars because she didn't have substantial role in them

Wow then in center you say Rajkumar Santoshi approaches Kulkarni with Ghatak and then China Gate, so an actress who has capacity to refuse 10 odd projects with top stars doesn't approaches Santoshi ever, both the times director approaches the actress, then the actress threatens the director to take her back in China gate are your editors nuts.

Can an actress a Super Star threaten whose hands are full of movies to refuse others can someone like her threaten really?

Rajkumar Santoshi is known for such controversies he offered Meenakshi Sheshadri for Marriage she refused the proposal he dropped her and took then hot and successful actress Mamta Kulkarni, then he dropped Manisha Koirala on grounds of drunken and coming with swollen face and takes Mamta Kulkarni for China Gate then again drops her and takes Urmila Matondkar for an cameo so who should you frame but you are framng an innocent shame on you guys

or atleast put it as her controvesys and not describing her career achievements.

there's a saying you want to know truth on any matter go the person who neither hates you or love you go to the neutral source for your rumours you guys right in block you can't play with living person's biography but aren't you then you lower her futher highlighting the rumour as central please rectify and remember there is Law of Karma what goes around comes around —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sameerd033 (talk) 10:13, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

I use Wikipedia even MORE THAN Google, which is a LOT! However, I have a bone to pick about excessive use of Javascript on all pages, which frequently causes my browser history to be WIPED! The pages also are much slower and cause CPU overuse with javascript, which threatens a SHUTDOWN on my laptop.

I've looked at the "mobile" version, but it doesn't measure up, while the Facebook "mobile" version DOES, with or without javascript. And when I DO have accidentally left the script ON, a POP-UP sometimes appears, begging for donations.

I have considered donating, because of my daily use of the encyclopedia pages, but until the excessive use of hidden javascript and outside sites, I WILL NOT DONATE! There are MANY OTHER information sources WITH ADS, which can be dealt with the SAME WAY, by keeping javascript disabled, so PLEASE go back to the simple and unobtrusive design Wikipedia was using a couple of years ago.

File categories on wikimediafoundation.org

I was going to upload a .zip with some source files but didn't find proper categiroes to put it in. I see category for images but not other types of files, I see templates in categories for pages (which would be bad manners in content Wikimedia project), categories by languages where there are both pages named like 'Ways to Give/uk' and 'Місія' (instead of 'Mission/uk').
Q: Is it so just because no effort was made to create categories and name pages according to some rules or there is some agreement not to bring rules from projects to foundation-wiki? (I'm newbie on the wiki so if there is a page to read and get to know everything, point it to me, please). Regarding wikimediafoundation.org: Should we make it easier for blocked/banned/locked/sanctioned users to find amnesty and become reformed vandals and get on the community's good side again? + "Incorrect password" bug

Apparently, the way the WMF projects' community things work makes amnesty difficult to receive, especially when it comes to getting ambushed by mastadons coming at users like tons of bricks. It is easy for administrators to make unjust blocks such as over inadvertently climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman or painting Mont Blanc red and digging a hole too deep for himself to get out of and then suffocating under a heap of trouble dumped in that hole to make sure the editor never comes back to Wikipedia again for what he has done, especially when it's just undesirable actions such as 'persistent disruption' or 'sockpuppetry' just because of a password bug preventing one from logging back in, and not vandalism, copyright infringement, personal attacks, threats or other violations. There is a bug with the passwords, when one logs out, he can't log back in because it thinks his password is wrong and thus he has to start a new account. But you'd say "he could've used email". But he doesn't do email. Historically, it may be compared to if someone reminded officials of a hypothetical terrorization of the Parliament while they were with a gang in the middle of terrorization of Parliament. There is an assertion that has been attributed to Albert Einstein; "If you teach a fish to climb a tree, the fish will feel stupid.", especially if you penalize the fish for failing every time. --174.53.58.98 17:50, 17 September 2016 (UTC) (a.k.a. Turkeybutt JC, a "disruptive editor who doesn't have the skills, competence or experience to edit any Wikis and therefore should've been blocked sooner", but that has already happened so sadly he can never be able to edit again or prove that he has became a 'reformed vandal', and is easily in trouble and is sad-mad because of sanctions that he feels are unjust, and thus he really wishes he could receive amnesty for his once-persistent mistake-making, and is worried that his pleas for amnesty may get censored (via deletion) just because he was blocked for being a very disruptive time-wasting editor on WP or just because this is off-topic or TL;DR, and also who can't log back in as Turkeybutt JC because the Wiki thing thinks that his password is incorrect. So if you're on any WMF, make sure not to log off or you'll have the same problem as he was getting too!)

You need to look at how the attack on Benghazi has been written. It is very wrong, and does not even come close to the description of the incident made by an eyewitness, made under oath. The attack took place apx 9:42 local time, it lasted 11 minutes. No shots were fired, 70-120 men, chanting, carrying weapons, tires, and cans of diesel fuel walked into the compound, unopposed because unarmed guards at the gate fled, then the 6 or so militia hired to protect the Ambassador, fled. Zero shots were fired, zero shots were fired to protect Ambassador Stevens. The Ambassador and Sean Smith were moved to a safe room, and their guard left them there to find an access to the roof. When their personal guard returned, the smoke in the safe room was so dense and so acrid that he could not locate the Ambassador in the safe room (Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith were still in the safe room, but overcome by the smoke). So, their personal guard reported them missing at 10:15. The 2 CIA operatives died hours later when mortar shells rained down on the CIA Annex. What your description states is garbage. I pulled my information from Trey Gowdy committee's report, where Ambassador Stevens personal guard testified under oath. I give far, far more credence to the Gowdy committee report. Something that is far more accurate than what Wikipedia states. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2600:1012:b05d:7367:0:72:804f:8101 (talk) 18:31, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

I will not donate to your "cause", but I will use the resources you provide that are not tainted with cultural Marxism. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.184.25.2 (talk) 17:59, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

I will contribute nothing until you stop allowing feminists to control and edit your site with blatantly false propaganda. I am not alone in this, why do you think everyone now calls it wackypedia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.173.62.36 (talk) 17:14, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Regarding wikimediafoundation.org

Happy Holidays!

I received an email from Jimmy Wales on 21 Nov asking for donations. I sent a reply that I will definitely do that. I love wiki, and used it a lot when earning my Bachelor of Science and my Master's degree. I'm having problems with this site in trying to donate; all I get is a spinning icon. Anyway, I will not give up in trying to donate. However, I will not likely donate until I get paid this Thurs., that way I can donate more.

Keep up the great job@ I really appreciate you gals/guys.

When I donated and questions about wikipedia and I saying it is running and the past and present and future that is ahead.Perhaps I should of said it is like black matter that science is having fun with. Wikipedia is always running in all conceivable movement that it like black matter that is and science wants to play with it and learn. it is a plane like a vast ocean which is real and it is depth and in every direction that can be moved in and also sensed but knowing and every action of sense you know is you and yet you know you are and can be but it is black and the depths of its own light that is always running and endless. a vast ocean which ripples even when it is perfectly still because it is endless and even when it is in fact always there and moving.I smile when science at every level is ow playing with the theoretical construct of black matter and trying to prove it is also something or some thing that can be moved! It's cute and I smile and in a fond way. Here today and was yesterday and will always be tomorrow and always still and a endless ripple that already exist but cannot yet be understood but is some how matter. virtualay there and endlessly running and sustaining it self. time ripple or light so fast it is and it is not and yet it is itself.like wikipedia!relative to the fact that it is always a ripple and wikipedia is also running is it not? of course it is —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.102.14.89 (talk) 00:06, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Template talk:User info

Given the User info template allows you to set the text for "About me", "About my work", and "Contact me", shouldn't users be able to set the label for the Disclaimer? Many users will use these settings to support translation when there is no user info box that supports their language. Without a setting to change the "Disclaimer" label it cannot be translated. Please add a "Disclaimer label" feature. AnotherPoint (talk) 04:37, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

I had no idea that you are a not for profit organisation dependent on donations until I was undertaking research today and the panel came up explaining your structure and asking for donations. Why don't you have a subscription for access with the level of subscription a function of the number of times you access the system? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 5.81.249.203 (talk) 08:14, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
