  • Request bot flag for pl:Wikipedysta:Margosbot. Public anouncement: pl:Wikipedia:Bar#Status bota dla Wikipedysta:Margosbot. I'm inserting new interwiki links to articles. As for now I've put them into over 2000 articles (using regular account). At the moment I've interwikis for next 457 articles. I prepare them offline, and put them using a bot. I'll wait with putting, till I got bot status. Margos 22:55, 22 Feb 2005 (UTC)
    • Ok, done. However, I prefer a way of working where one first makes some edits with the bot before asking bot status. - Andre Engels 09:05, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Portuguese (pt) version of Wikinews:

Hi! Our recently launched version in Portuguese of Wikinews is currently in need of some other urgent software translations and there is no user with sysop status to change the MediaWiki messages.

So, my question is, can you turn me into an administrator? Because if we keep this way, there will never be someone able to translate the remaing messages (and there are tons of them). My user account there is n:pt:Usuário:Ikescs. The local admin page is n:pt:Wikinews:Administradores. --Ikescs 04:04, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hello! I am from the Portuguese version of Wikinews. As n:pt:Usuário:Ikescs said we need some sysop so we can finish our work. Would you please promote some of us to sysop? My user account is n:pt:Usuário:Carlosar. The admin page is n:pt:Wikinews:Administradores. Thank you very much. --Carlosar 13:18, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hi, please give sysop permissions and bureaucrat flag to User e2m, at the portuguese edition of Wikinews, he is a experient admin from the the portuguese wikipedia.
Giving this permission to him, will give us a base to start polls for new admins at the portuguese wikinews and to translate the remaining of the software.
Thank you, Get It 15:49, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Done. Please start a vote for admins and bureaucrats and have e2m take care of any other promotions. --Daniel Mayer 03:12, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • Request for Bureaucrat status on Polish Wikinews for pl:User:Adziura. We need a bureaucrat to start the project properly, and he's a respected Polish Wikipedia sysop who is now also active at pl.wikinews. Ausir 21:02, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • As User:Gangleri suggested to me, I request for bot flag on sr: for bot Millbot. General purpose of this bot is synchronizing of Cyrillic, Latin and ASCII Latin pages on sr:. Development of this bot would not be in the way of taking care about interwiki links (even it can do that if there is no other job), but to take care about consistency of sr:. Millbot reports all of it's actions in it's name space. Community approves it (actually, community were waiting for this bot for a couple of months). --Millosh 13:13, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • Please kindly grant me bureaucrat status on the Southern Min (Min Nan) Wiktionary (Admin page). Currently no sysop exists there. I am, however, a bureaucrat on the zh-min-nan Wikipedia. My user ID is 2, if it helps. Thanks/merci/danke/arigatô gôzaimasu. A-giâu 11:17, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Please follow the instructions above. Anthere
Hi, I'm not quite sure which part is missing. Please bear with me. So far I've linked to the local admin page, which links back here and does explain what an admin is and can do. It has a null list of admins, plus my name listed as pending. The "large wikis only" requirement does not apply. The language code and project name are in the link. The only thing missing is my user name there (though I did give the user ID, which was previously asked for when I requested sysop status for the Min Nan Wikipedia, probably because of the diacritic in my user name), which is identical to my user name here. Anything else? A-giâu 12:13, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

      • Hello Daniel & Anthere, I work in Dakar (Senegal) to promote wolof language on the Net. I know we are not necessarily following the normal path on Wikipedia. However, I would like to have sysop status in order to translate at least the interface and the logo before the promotion in paper and media of Senegal and Gambia... Thanks a lot ! Yannick Duchesne
      • Do you understand what adminship is about? The admins page at wo seems rather confused.
        • Hello, I think you are really new, but I would like to see things get started. So I made you temporarily sysop (3 weeks). Please try to come participate on fr as well so as to understand fully the principles. Thanks and good luck. Anthere

  • I would like to request a temporary bureaucrat status on the Hebrew version of Wiktiniory (http://he.wiktionary.org/), to make some critical changes (Promote active people in the project to a status of sysop, translate the rest of the interface, etc.). I ask for a temporary bureaucrat status because that's what the project need right now. I wish not to stay in this status and only become a sysop after doing the critical changes I have mentioned above. Amitayk 14:59, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • I would like to request an emergency revocation of sysop status for קלײנער קעניגל in the Yiddish Wikipedia. He is engaging in inappropriate speedy deletion. He keeps deleting all redirects from titles in different dialects, thereby breaking the links in other articles. In general he does not seem to care about others or their opinions and the democratic process. And being the only permanent sysop on that Wikipedia, he does whatever he likes. Lately, he deleted the Votes for Deletion page. (Without voting on it first, of course) Chaim Zelig Berger 10:13, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • The Portuguese Wikipedia decided new rules to choose burocrats, with these new rules we voted for 3 burocrats here. In this election, the community of portuguese wikipedia decided that Mschlindwein, Muriel and Manuel Anastácio are the new burocrats, and the community decided to revoke the burocrat status of JoaoMiranda. Well, I requested to JoaoMiranda to grant burocrats status for three people above, but he doesn't come to pt.wikipedia since january 18. So, I request to you to grant burocrat status to Mschlindwein, Muriel and Manuel Anastácio, and revoke the burocrat status of JoaoMiranda. Please forgive me for any english error and thank you very much. Gbiten 23:51, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)

  • Cao Xuân Hiếu would like to become an administrator for the Vietnamese Wikipedia (w:vi:). He has gotten support from three Vietnamese users (including me, a sysop) and "limited support" from a third user. (That's actually an achievement for a wiki of our size.) I think he has addressed any concerns that have arisen from his request, and this request has been sitting around for awhile without any further objections. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, blog) 21:16, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The bot will be used for interwikies.

here in my discussion i received an explicit request from da: and bg: to be marked as bot.

Note for Yurik regarding the Japanese YurikBot account : just ask a bureaucrat to rename the account using Special:Renameuser, then you can recreate it with a different password. I don't think there's any need to find out who did it. It's just one of those silly little things that bored kids do sometimes.

Speaking for simple:wikipedia , I want to see Yurik create a clear bot account name, and he really should do that everywhere. Using his real user name is confusing and against standard practice. Especially important if we ever move to single login. -- Netoholic @ 16:47, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Set temporary sysop status for Frieda. Please put some sort of an information on a local it.wikiquote page about you becoming a bureaucrat - if no one will oppose in the few next hours, you will be granted permanent sysop and bureaucrat rights. Datrio 19:16, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

Seeing as the project doesn't has a bureaucrat and Frieda seems like a good user, I've granted her permanent sysop and bureaucrat status. Just leave the message about her new status on your project. Hope you won't have any problems with vandals anymore. Good luck on your Wikiquote! :) Datrio 19:29, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, but even if it's a simple bot as that, you still have to request a bot status on the local Wiki for it. After you'll post information in the local village pump, or anywhere else it will be requested, that you're running such a bot, we'll be able to set bot rights for it. • I'd like to be an admin on nds.wiktionary. Short time ago we spoke on nds.wikipedia about having a Wiktionary and were planning for a structured beginning. As luck would have it, also some people from other wiktionaries had the idea of beginning the nds.wiktionary, they have some wordlists they want to insert automatically, but for my knowledge noone of them speaks Low Saxon. It would be good, if I had the possibility to help sorting the things out. Recently also wikt:nds:Bruker:GerardM became admin, but he speaks no Low Saxon. I'm also admin on nds.wikipedia and de.wikipedia. --Slomox 13:13, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
Could you leave a message on some local page on nds.wiktionary, that you're becoming a sysop? Also, could you leave a message in the local village pump, or some other place, that your project needs a bureaucrat? That could be useful. Datrio 20:32, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Plese to b:Wikibooks:Requests for adminshipRequests for bureaucrats--Shizhao 07:01, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
There is no "requests for bureaucrat" section on that page, only "nominations", and I'm thinking of removing that. Since bureaucrats can only be created by stewards and developers, and these folks have to sort out every wiki, it would make more sense for these requests to be managed centrally at Meta, otherwise the poor stewards will have to regularly check every wiki (of which there are hundreds), and I don't believe this is what actually happens. I also realize that this page states "where no local means exists", but something you have to realize about the nature of wiki is that even though a page may exist, it doesn't mean aynone reads it, or keeps it up-to-date. Most of our sysops are inactive, and this is a problem. Many users have tried to get sysop status by applying on that page, but found that nothing ever happens, and eventually give up. As a consequence, there is no-one there to combat the ongoing vandalism. I'm hoping the the same is not true of this wiki. Do any active developers/stewards even read this page? - Aya T C 16:44, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
Well... Please list yourself on b:Wikibooks:Requests for adminship, so everyone will be aware of the fact that you're becoming a bureaucrat. If no one will oppose, we'll set the bureaucrat flag for you. Datrio 20:37, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
Done. See b:Wikibooks:Requests for adminship#Aya. Thankyou for your swift response. - Aya T C 19:02, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Update: When you said, "If no one will oppose", you neglected to specify a time limit for such opposition. The majority of the Wikibooks regulars who even bother to watch that page (there aren't that many) have already cast their votes. I'd prefer this could be sorted out ASAP, since the vandalism keeps on coming. Thankyou. - Aya T C 16:57, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. :) It's good to know these projects haven't been abandoned. This will be my last post to this section, so feel free to archive it whenever you like. - Aya T C 17:37, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
Update: I'm somewhat concerned by the fact that I can make administrators, but I can't remove them. One of the mechanisms required for the swift granting of admin permissions must be the ability to swiftly remove such permissions, in the event the the user is deemed to have excessively abuse their new-found power. Our wiki runs the 1.5beta with the Special:Userrights page (which I assume would allow this functionality), but I don't seem to be able to access it. Any suggestions? - Aya T C 19:56, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
Only stewards can technically remove the rights of an editor. Not a bureaucrat. When it is necessary to remove rights of someone, it must be first decided on a local wiki, by the whole community (by any mean necessary - typically voting). Only after this has been decided, you may come over here or ask a steward on irc for speeder reaction, and the steward will carry on the request. Remember : sysops are normally trusted editors, they may go wrong, but they will normally not be vandals (unless you give sysop power in a very strange way). Anthere

The IP in question is a proxy server for tunnelrats.org.au, the server in question has a member access list of in excess of 178 people, (access to the members dbase I had provided to David_Gerard) and on polite discussion with him informing him that there is no foul play occuring or intended, he responded with a quip on my talk page that 'he's not stupid'.
I can provide proxy logs and member dbase access to anyone wanting to verify this information is correct and factual, as I explained to him, if it was a case of sock puppetry I'd just cycle the IP address on the proxy server, but I would prefer to do things by the book as there was no instance of foul play or sock puppetry occuring. A bit over two months ago, I requested administrator status at the Interlingua wikipedia's administrator/RfA page. There are a few things I would like to do to help the Interlingua wikipedia grow (for example, fix a glaring typo on the front page, translate some parts of the interface that are still in English, and translate the graphic which is notably not in Interlingua) that can only be done by an admin or a sysop. Serbo-croatian Wikipedia

I am administrator on Serbian Wikipedia, and I want to edit sh Wikipedia. Zhengzu will make software. Fine, but let me edit Main Page and interface. Let me prepare this Wikipedia for implementing this Zhengzu`s software. Thank you. --Pokrajac 19:26, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

the reason for locking this wikipedia was stated by Andre Engels: "The sh: Wikipedia has been permanently locked because it is not used any more. Please go to the Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian or Slovenian Wikipedia instead."
for what reason should it be unlocked? oscar 21:47, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Could you please specify why you want to work on sh: rather than sr: or hr:? - Andre Engels 22:04, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
This is also discussed at Requests for new languages#Serbo-croatian language. Angela 23:16, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Yes, go to this page, and you will see mine reasons why I want to work on sh Wikipedia. I think that bs+hr+sr language is one language. --Pokrajac 21:48, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Andre, you closed this Wikipedia without asking anybody. It was a little bit active right up until you closed it. Please, re-open it since there are people wanting to work on it now. The simple reason why people are wanting to use sh: is that they do not believe Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian are separate languages, and want to work in a multinational environment which is more conducive to NPOV than the separate-wikis setup. --Node ue 00:29, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Another possible justification:
All new languages on territory of ex-Yugoslavia are trying to promote there specific usage and speakers often find any alternative usage offensive. It is difficult to contribute if you know that you going to upset or even offend part of your target audience. Serbo-Croatian acts as a shield against this type of problems as any usage is equally correct. --Miramoto 23:42, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
i am a bit taken aback, being from holland myself. but where are slovenian and bosnian in this nomenclature? excuse me, but i am in doubt. oscar 00:06, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Slovenian is not part of "Serbo-Croatian". Serbo-Croatian includes only Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian. In fact, between the official languages of Bosnia, Serbia, and Croatia, there are mostly only minor spelling differences. Many international organisations still treat Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian as a single language to cut down on translation costs, since only about 3% of the vocabulary is any different, and often it's just in the spelling. --Node ue 07:03, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
AFAIK serbian and croatian language are basically the same, but serbians use cyrillic alphabeth, while croatian use latin alphabeth. I have no problem if someone wish to write on sh:, i just ask myself which alphabeth they are going to use there. --Snowdog 13:05, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Actually, Serbian uses both alphabets (Cyrillic and Latin), while Croatian uses just Latin. Serbo-Croatian, as a unified language, is usually written in the Latin alphabet. Hmm, I wonder why for nationalistic purposes Bosnian isn't written in Arabic? That would be... more balkanisation. --Node ue 13:34, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Although I still am of the opinion that it's not a good idea (we should either have an sh: Wikipedia or sr:hr:bs: Wikipedias, but not both, in my opinion), I'm willing to unlock and just let you work on your own problems. However, I cannot find how to do it... - Andre Engels 19:13, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Check this, Andre: Inactive wikis#Instructions for stewards - just go to Special:Unlockdb on that Wikipedia and do it. Datrio 19:22, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
you mean, after logging in, go to http://sh.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Unlockdb i guess. oscar 01:10, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Andre, we traditionally have difficulties in resolving our internal problems and introduction of the international law has put a stop on our tried and tested methods. That aside we are all much obliged for your kind willingness to unlock and we all hope that you going to find how to do it. --Miramoto 00:49, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Mo.wiki adminship: Urgent!

Hi; Ronline, Danutz, and I finally reached an agreement regarding mo.wiki about one month ago, which seems to be echoed across the ro.wiki community.

Recently, a group of Romanian nationalist vandals has showed up, labelling the Wikipedia as "communist", "npov", and "soviet" simply because they don't think that the 5% of Moldovans who use Cyrillic, and the 33% of Moldovans who call their language Moldovan (as opposed to Romanian), have a right to do so. One of them was willing to discuss it at first, but now they have resorted to petty vandalism.

This is an emergency situation as it is a very real possibility that they;'ll destroy the Wikipedia to an extent where it's difficult to repair.

None of the vandals are registered users.

If, after the situation is solved, I do not receive Ronline and Danutz' blessing (which I think I will), I will step down immediately.

--Node ue 15:21, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Sysop status granted, please inform us on the current situation, and both Ronline's and Danutz's reaction. Datrio 15:38, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Dat, this is not a valid request, Node us didn't give any of three required links; his own user page, discussion page and the link to the project. And one additinal point. If he can't prove the community support, this request should be dealt as "temporary sysop right". --Aphaia | Translate Election | ++ 15:44, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Argh, and I wanted to add "Temporary" before everything ;). Well, just to clarify what I did - I checked his user page and his discussion page. Also, the main page of mowiki proves his point. And, as he said by himself, if he won't gain support, he'll just step down. That's why I asked him to inform us on how will this situation clear out. Datrio 15:48, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your clarification. So this is a misplaced request for temp sysopship, so understood. --Aphaia | Translate Election | ++ 02:21, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

    • Koko, of course you need to talk to the local community; running the bot on the Polish wiki and cluttering the Recent Changes page with untranslated messages (while there already are two registered bots doing the job right) and refusing to answer on the talk page was not taken well. So please talk to people, make sure your services are needed, and get the bot status before you launch into mass edits. tsca 19:48, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
      • First of all, I've granted bot status on ru:, but please announce your bot in the local village pump. Secondly, the same goes with other projects - either ask for bot status there, or announce your bot on the other local Wikipedia projects (the village pumps, preferably). Then just leave a link to them here, and if there'll be no objections, the bot status for your bot on these projects will be granted.

Apart from that, I request bureaucrat permissions: there's no bureaucrat there and there's one competent contributor there that I am going to ask to become a sysop. / tsca 00:28, 30 May 2005 (UTC) / csb:user:Tsca
  • I've made an announcement about my Spanish wikibot, though it is obviously in Spanish. Nobody has directly opposed, but some users have shown a slight lack of excitement. We shall have arrived to an agreement in a few days, the announcement is here. The bot that I have is the pywikipedia bot, nothing new, I don't suppose. Thanks --Orgullomoore 20:21, 27 May 2005 (UTC)

  • I ask for bureaucrat permissions on sr.wikinews for me, Sasa Stefanovic, Kaster, Dcabrilo and/or Goran Andjelkovic, so we can work there without problems. --Millosh 22:58, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Has there been any sort of vote on this. Do you have an administrators page? I think the community there is large enough now to ask them to approve this rather than a steward unilaterally approving it. Angela 07:50, 30 May 2005 (UTC)
      • We vote only if there are some problems. Without problems, we don't vote. DCabrilo started sr.wikinews (and announced it at Serbian vilage pump) but he is not active last few days, Kaster is now the most active on sr.wikinews and Goran and Sasa are very active Wikipedians which work on Wikinews, too. And this is the list of people who was working on sr.wikinews. If you give bureaucrat right to anyone, it would be good enough (all of that people are or should be admins on sr.wikipedia). I made the page: admin page --Millosh 11:51, 30 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Can you please grant me sysop status on the Gaeilge Wikipedia, their are a huge amount of grammar mistakes on the interface pages. Everytime they are pointed out, the only active admin seems to just say 'Yeah, sure thing', then not do anything. Many applications for sysop status have been made and again, the admin says 'Sure thing' and doesn't do anything. Either he doesn't have beaurocrat status or he just doesn't want anyone else to be an admin. Also, could you give me or someone else beaurocrat status so more admins can be made, there's at least 3 or 4 people who want it and would be good but can't get it. His use page says he's away, but he's edited plenty of articles since then and would've had plenty of time to create admins. • Please remove sysop-rights for user Fransvannes on nl.wikipedia. It is on his own request. Translated quote: "I have withdrawn myself as sysop but they don't seem to understand. I don't consider myself a sysop since January 2005 and I didn't use a sysop-function eversince. Fransvannes, April 21, 2005"

Now another sysop asked me to help Fransvannes to get desysoped since I'm a bureaucrat. Here you can find Fransvannes' own declaration in Dutch. Thanks you for helping. Chris 19:01, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

  • I would like to request adminship in the Georgian Wikipedia (ka). The Georgian Wikipedia is quickly growing up now. But recently some vandalisms and spams are observed occasionally. There are so few people working to pay enough attention to them as well as to other things generally. Regards. -- Island 11:13, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

  • I would like to request bot status for account fr:Utilisateur:MisterMatt Bot on french wikipedia. It's a bot for several routine operations (categorizing stubs, puting templates which link to the related portal, and some others little things). For now, the bot has made over 5000 modifications in three weeks, but I was obliged to run it at night (I bother less people in night), because it polluted the RC. I've planned to make others corrections, so the bot status would be useful. fr:Utilisateur:MisterMatt 17 May 2005

  • Swedish Wikipedia currently has five administrators who has formally asked for their own resignation. Currently it seems we have no way of removing administrator priviliges from an admin; our programmer/developer (the only one, as far as I know) has previously done so in a few cases but does not feel it is his job any more; it should be done by a steward, he says.
  • The situation is to large extent the result of a long series of conflicts with and around an administrator who many of as label as problematic, as an editor and as an administrator. As far as I understand this user has been technically proven - as far as that is possible - to be identical with a user who is currently on a three month ban from English Wikipedia for the use of sock puppets. This user is, by most of us who have been around for a while, considered a true member of the troll species.
  • When for the second time challenged with a poll regarding withdrawal of admin priviledges, this administrator announced that he voluntarily withdrew from the post. It can not be excluded that this was done for tactical reasons; since the procedure of how to remove administrator status on Swedish Wikipedia is not clear, a couple of such requests have been around for a while but nothing has happened with them. Most, if not all, of these other cases of administrator asking for removal of their admin status is a result of this long ongoing situations with continous conflicts, that is wearing and tearing on all of us. The logical thing to do IMO would be to remove the admin status for all five of them. Those who have the trust of the Sw WP public, can always be re-elected later.
  • For details, ask me or any of the Swedish Wikipedians that you know and trust. /Habj 14:11, 20 May 2005 (UTC)

There are a lot more than just those which aren't done. so: for example isn't. I suggest you ask a developer to set this on all wikis. It isn't practical to do it via the steward interface since it requires manually entering this for every single wiki. Angela 12:01, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

We are both admins on dawiki, and would like temporary admin status on the nowiki (no.wikipedia.org) for the duration of this election (april 29th - may 14th), in order to handle the election as effecient as possible. The election is taking place on no:Wikipedia:Målform/Interwikinavn. Also for Malagasy Wikipedia http://mg.wikipedia.org/ which is not much activity, user DotMG wants adminship to translate the user interface. (added here by Node ue)

How do you know this? DotMG has only made 4 edits, 2 of which weer to his user page, and there is no mention of this on mg:Wikipedia:Mpandrindra. • Following the request of our lb-wiki bureaucrat Briséis, I should be grateful if you could grant bot status to both ChronoBot and LuxBot.
ChronoBot creates basic chronology schemes to be afterwards filled with content by human users. Being up to ten times faster at this task than any human, this frees a lot of time for the work on the content itself. ChronoBot has already been tested on two centuries and works perfect now.
LuxBot intends to correct Luxembourg articles with respect to orthography. The spell-check applies only to common spelling mistakes. Currently, LuxBot operates only half-automated, but it is planned to use a full-automated version once a routine excluding external links from the spell-check will have been included in the code. Thank you. --Otets 12:32, 1 May 2005 (UTC)

I would like to request adminship for PCode on the Chuvash Wikipedia (cv:. Administrators page is here.

Hi, I'll wait a little bit of time for opinions on cv. Anthere 19:57, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hi, there is no community there .
In fact, if you will check his edit history, you will find he has made heaps of edits, while other people (such as Untifler, who doesn't speak Chuvash, from the Tatar Wikipedia) have only made 0~20.
PCode is the first to make things at cv. I know the history of that Wikipedia: it's been created according to a message from a Russian boy, who could not do much there because of his poor Chuvash. Since then PCode is the first active user, in fact. It'd be good to grat him adminship so that he could translate the interface and do similar things. Voting for his adminship would have no sense now, for most members of cv are not Chuvash at the moment. -- cv:Amikeco/Slavik IVANOV 16:17, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Important note: PCode is a fluent speaker of Chuvash, and has been the first active contributor to the Chuvash Wikipedia. He should be given adminship because there are no opinions on cv, save two inactive, non-chuvash contributors Slavik Ivanov and Untifler.
Would be grateful, if Admin rights as soon as possible were are transferred{handed} to me. I tried to contact Untifler, could. Rights are necessary for translation system messages and trackings contents (Programm Translate). PCode 11:22, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

        • Religion questions belong to hot themes, but Dodo keeps wikiquette in all his discussions (even if one user tends to provoke).

  • Daniel Mayer previously asked the Vietnamese Wikipedia (w:vi:) to nominate a user for bureaucrat-ship. There is a consensus (three users, including a sysop) that I should be the bureaucrat, since I've been sending the RfA's to this page for some time anyways. I'm already a sysop at the vi: wiki (username: Mxn). There is currently a poll to decide what exactly to call a bureaucrat in Vietnamese, by the way. Also, there is a user by the name of Vương Ngân Hà who was nominated by a sysop, and has received suppport from two other sysops (including me). No objections have been voiced against either me or Vương Ngân Hà. Thanks for your time. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, blog) 05:53, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
    • Bureaucrat-ship granted - please take care of the other user's sysop status. :) --Daniel Mayer 19:31, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Request for Sysop status on the Bambara Wikipedia for Guaka. I don't speak Bambara, but I do want to learn it. I want to get the Bambara Wikipedia started while I'm in Mali. I read and write French. I'm sysop of the Limburgish Wikipedia since November 2004 or so. Guaka 16:00, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
    • We have not had much by the way of luck with giving people sysop status on a wiki whose language they don't speak.... So I'm a bit apprehensive about that. At the very least, please follow the instructions above. --Daniel Mayer 19:45, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)
      • Could you make these instructions a tiny bit clearer? For instance, a link to an existing "admin page" would be nice. The plan is to set up a competition to get the Bambara Wikipedia started. I'm here for 3 months, working for w:Geekcorps. We very likely won't be able to find someone who writes Bambara, is willing and able to be sysop and do the competition within these 3 months. If the launch and the competition are successful we'll probably have some candidates for adminship and I will be very willing to step down from this function. For the time being it would be very practical to encounter possible vandalism, and possible mistakes. Oh, and IRL I'm surrounded by people who do speak Bambara, whom I can ask what stuff means (once people start adding text). Guaka 09:15, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)
        • Uhhhhhhhh... if you're surrounded by Bambara speakers, why is the content of the site mostly in French so far? Isn't it as simple as saying "Could you please write this for me in Bambara?"??? (unsigned)
          • No it isn't. Asking what stuff means is so much easier than asking "can you please write this in Bambara". Most people don't write Bambara. They learn reading/writing with French. Many concepts don't have quick'n'easy translations, if there are any at all. Guaka
            • In the whole nation of Mali, there must be somebody who can write Bambara. If there are no words in Bambara as you say, then how can we have an encyclopedia in it? A language without words is like a man without skin, bones, or blood.
              • Did I write that nobody writes in Bambara? Please read more carefully. Guaka 16:01, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
          • I've created http://bm.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrateurs. Guaka 13:40, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
            • The vote is happening, but there aren't many users really. On the vote I also made clear that I'll withdraw once there are some other, serious Bambaraphone adminstrators. There has been some text I'd normally consider vandalism, from the same IP where the one vote against my adminship came from. However, later there was some more serious communication going on. And even some serious contributions from that address! :)
When is the "voting" considered finished? Guaka 13:13, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)
              • Adminship granted until there are Bambara speakers, or until their are objections made to this. Angela 12:06, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Request for adminship in the Ossetian wikipedia, created on 28th of February. My nick is Amikeco there. Britty indicated 8 people supported that, against 1 opposing. For a rather big community (third language), I think this number is quite low. Could more people give their opinion on this ? Anthere
Only three people supported Britty's adminship in Japanese Wikiquote. But this vote was approved and meta considered she met this requirement: "you are a sysop on a local wikipedia or related project." Why aren't 8 people enough? DrFrog 02:32, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
This is a very different issue. Regardless of Britty status on ja, we on meta really trust us. So, we see no issue in having her sysop. We need her. But here, we are talking of a whole project, the impact could be tremendous, not something to do just because 8 people ask. The french and japanese communities are basically the same size, I would not do it if 8 people only had given their opinion. Anthere

Thanks for your comment, Anthere, I can understand your opinion. However, now there is no opposing virtually because when I ascertained the locking request again, the oppose did not express opposing argument. And I'm afraid this number is not so low. On the actual condition, the contributors, including sysops, who show an interest in creating administrative documents and effortful works are quite few, even though the Japanese Wikipedia is big. I'm afraid this is the actual state of the Japanese Wiktionary. e-Goat 04:10, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. And would you let me add another fact: my proposal for temporal closure of Japanese WikinewsWiktionary to wikija-l. There are no responce in the mailingist. If someone opposed, they could express their opinion whether in the mailing list or in the beer parlour of the project. We had only one clear opposition during a week. In my opinion we could conclude there is a concensus for closing. I asked therefore you, Anthere, to react this request. --Aphaia | WQ2翻訳中 | talk 05:23, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Now We got new 2 supports. And I should have told you that the discussion was absolutely open, anyone could express opinions freely, I announced it clearly on the Village pump, Main page and Recentchanges. e-Goat 00:13, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC) p.s. Aphaia, you meant Wiktionary not Wikinews, right?

Thanks, eG, it was my fault. Sorry for confusion, if any. --Aphaia | WQ2翻訳中 | talk 00:21, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

None of 10 supporters is active contributor (more than 10 edits in the main namescape in last 30 days) (Brevam: 9, Electric goat: 5, 4, PiaCarrot: 2, Aphaia: 1, Kahusi: 0, Kzhr: 0, Ninomy: 0, NJT: 0, Tietew: 0). But we don't care about that. While Japanese Wiktionary is open, we cannot establish basic guidelines and solve administrative issues. But once Wiktionary is locked, many wikipoliticians will gather in meta and they are expected to boost wikipolitics. DrFrog 01:15, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

quite true, anyway, I tried to do it, and could not, as the feature is not unabled on ja wiktionary. I just asked Brion to please do it for you. Anthere 20:51, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Okay, Ja should be locked. If the current message does not fit, please tell us. Anthere

Thank you, Anthere and Brion. Yes, I have to fix the current messages. Before I read this, I sent an E-mail to Wiktionary-l It was still awaiting, so I canceled. I'd rewrite and report it later on somewhere. e-Goat 22:19, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

huwiki checkuser status

As we have "discussed" on #wikimedia-tech I hereby request CheckUser flag on Hungarian Wikipedia. The voting page could be found here (including english translation). As far as I see I have the backing of all the admins, too. (Not that it matters, but two "oppose" votes are from editors who are causing nearly all the troubles on huwiki and the reason for the request itself: IGe uses sock puppets heavily [and about to be banned for a longer period of time due to violating nearly everything possible] and Math just came back from having repeatedly banned for personal attacks [and probably looking forward to be banned for a longer period of time].) Thank you. --grin 22:50, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Additionally we (me and some helpful editors and admins) have a policy draft regarding the usage of the feature. It may be used as an input for the global policy. --grin 07:54, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

As the stewards' interface got fixed (thanks to dammit) this flag was set by Datrio (thank you for your kind patience!), and the community and vote pages were informed. Thanks. --grin 09:57, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm CdaMVvWgS from German and Nauruan Wikipedia, where I'm mainly active and where I'm also a sysop. I'd like to request permission to be a sysop (or bureaucrat, if possible) on Nauruan Wiktionary (http://na.wiktionary.org/). There are 9 registered user, but no admin; just about 5 users ever did some contributions, and the last few months there was no activity. But since there are now at least 1 or 2 native Nauruans on Nauruan Wikipedia and we have few words to be "saved" somewhere outside of the Wikipedia, I'd like to implement them on Wiktionary build up now the basis for the Nauruan Wiktionary; other users like "Belgian man" or "S.V.E.T." then would also participate in the work. A permission would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot and greetings -- 12:21, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Hereby I request the admin rights for Wikisource. I am user of the Czech Wiki (also German one etc.) since May 2004, beeing there admin since November 2004. As we would like to develop the Czech section of Wikisource, we are sure we would need an user there with admin right. I proposed on the Village punp that I will apply fort he rights and there was a great support for this in very short time (see cs:Wikipedie:Pod lípou (oznámení)#Spravcovská práva na Wikisource – zájem). Thx. -jkb- 11:42, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

Probably there is a misunderstanding. There is no cs:wikisource, we are still working on wikisource.org, where I would like to get the sysop rights to carry on the cs: section. We shall probably apply for a subdomain later on. For this reason and because this page was out of work for several days I also put my request on here as somebody told me so. Hi. Czech Wiktionary is now almost abandoned. There is about one edit a day. The only Czech sysop has 11 contributions during last 9 months, the other non-Czech has no edit during last year. There are some pages to be deleted (vandalisms, redirects after moves etc), system messages to be translated. I'd like to improve Czech Wiktionary and sysop right would help me. I would recomend granting only sysopship to Zanatic. His work is of good quality. I am, however, concerned by his statement that he has finished negotiations with Zirland (the other candidate) concerning sysopship grant. The reasons why I am against Zirland's sysopship are summarized below. --TMA 08:53, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
As Zanatic pointed out, there is not much of a community on cs:wikt:. I do not think the (virtually nonexistent) community is large or mature enough to justify the existence of a bureaucrat. --TMA 08:53, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

I'd like to join my colleague Zanatic and apply for sysop status of Czech Wikitionary. There is lot of of work in front of us. I am active member of cs.wiki and cs.wikibooks community and also involved in meta, en.wiki and pl. wiki projects. Annuled by --Zirland 09:16, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

We both announced this application on Village pump and unless there will be an objection placed, we will respectfully ask you for this status. --Zirland 11:22, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

I would recomend against making Zirland a sysop on cs:wikt:. He has only one editation (as of 2005-09-29 8:20 UTC), namely upload of Cnn.jpg file. This file was later marked for speedy deletion by applicant himself. Moreover, Zirland is registered user on cs:wikt: since 11:13, 28. 9. 2005, applying for sysopship only nine minutes after registration. --TMA 08:53, 29 September 2005 (UTC) (sysop on cs:wikt:)
On the basis of TMA's objection and other users' statement, for this moment I annul the application. --Zirland 09:16, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

cs:Wikipedista:Tompecina temp. desysop

Completed by Danny. Discussion will probably continue at Requests for comments/Cswiki issues. Archived from Requests by Wikimol 22:24, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

cs:Wikipedista:Tompecina - temporary removal of admin flag is requested (1 day should be enough). Tompecina was blocked after breaking 3RR. Unfortunately he was unable to calm down and deblocked himself. Several blockings and self-deblockings followed - see cs:Speciální:Log. --Wikimol 20:42, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

It should be pointed out that this account of the events is untrue. Regretfully, the whole case seems to be very similar to the recent expulsion of Z. Without going into much detail, I would like to mention that a spelling change that violated an approved rule on cs.wiki was made and my alleged breach of the 3RR was merely due to my legitimate attempt to enforce the rule. I tried to discuss the matter with the other members involved in the dispute, who later admitted that I was absolutely correct in interpreting the rule. Therefore, the ban was wholly unwarranted and it was in order to overrule it. I always try to settle things peacefully, and it was only due to excessive use of reverts by the other members that the conflict escalated, but again, if it were not for my banning (without taking a vote, even without a word of warning), there would be no conflict now. I still hope for things to be resolved by discussion rather than by using (and potentially abusing) formal authorities. --Tompecina 21:20, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

This request was annouced on cs wiki on Village pump --Zirland 21:02, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

the editor is not sysop according to our interface. So I did not remove the status. Anthere
Actually it was made by Danny on 18 September 2005 at 22:07, not bothering noticed that. I point out Wikimol asked only for temporary removal of admin flag (1 day should be enough), although even that is controversial. -- V. Z. 07:39, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
This is not a problem anymore. I left cs.wiki with no intention of coming back. Basically, as I said earlier, these people are bullies, knowing very little about what making an encyclopaedia is about (most of them posses no recognisable expert knowledge or skills they could contribute - some of them writing in hideous, semi-illiterate Czech at that). Their only concern is the POWER they can exert over those who actually work for the community, telling them how to do things they cannot do themselves, correcting their alleged spelling errors (which are no errors at all) and flexing their egos by punishing them for non-existent infractions. The prognosis is bleak: either the community is going to summon enough strength to get rid of the wimps who are terrorising it (which is unlikely to happen), or cs.wiki will become a quagmire run by worshippers of mediocrity, which it more or less is now. --Tompecina 09:07, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
The problems with Tompecina in this case were breaking three reverts rule (six reverts!) and misusing of administrator's rights in his own case. It is a bit funny if he says our only concern is power. BTW, on Requests_for_comments/Cswiki_issues Tompecina says he was expelled from cs.wiki which is not true at all. --Radouch 09:24, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
As I wrote on Requests for comments/Cswiki issues#cs.wiki, Radouch and others fatally failed to punish Cinik's provocations, because he shares with them the membership in the same clique. 3RR is not a dogma, you should have tried IAR instead to find a compromise. That's why I must emphasise that the Group of lynchers is thirsty for power and lacks any common sense. -- V. Z. 15:53, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

No only have I been suspended, but I was not even allowed to post a short statement on my own talk page, and a completely unrelated article I wrote - Výklad (právo) - was deleted as a punishment. I rest my case, nihil habeo cum cs.wiki. --Tompecina 09:37, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

Now is more than one day when stewards were asked to desysop Mr. Pecina for one day. I see no restoration of his rights: Special:Log/rights and cs:Special:Listusers/sysop. -- V. Z. 07:19, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

cs:User:Ludek was in conntact with Tompecina. Before removal Tompecina wrote him he didnt want to be sysop. Tompecina also twice announced leaving cs wikipedia. There is probably nobody against return of rights if Tompecina announces change of his decisions. --Li-sung 08:19, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

It is absurd to set new and new conditions for restoring Mr. Pecina's rights. The application for temporary desysopping was unconditional. The term is now over, it's time to return his rights. -- V. Z. 08:45, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
Yep, a farcical end to a farcical story. Of the several explanations why my access rights cannot be restored, this one is my favorite: It is necessary to protect me from spoofers. What if someone used my (presumably poorly protected) password and harmed me by doing mischief in my name!? Fun, just pure fun... --Tompecina 08:58, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
I tried to explain to Beren & Malý čtenář unreasonableness of this claim, but in vain. I am sorry for that, but those who don't wish to hear they don't hear. -- V. Z. 12:21, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
@Tompecina: Stop laughing and give clear answer, please. Do you want to be sysop on cswiki (yes/no)? -- 09:03, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
Wrong question. I don't intend to go to Italy in order to use up the balance on my Viacard highway-toll prepaid card before it expires. Still, I am entitled to the balance. --Tompecina 09:42, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
As bureaucrat on the Czech Wikipedia I feel to write some short explanation.
On the 18th September in reaction of Tompecina's messages in summaries of his contributions I asked Tompecina by mail if he really wants to give up sysop rights. He answered me by mail: "Yes." It was before action of stewards. Tompecina later also wrote on his own page (as new user Tomáš Pecina, because account Tompecina was temporarily blocked), that he will not work on the Czech Wikipedia. He also wrote on meta: "I left cs.wiki with no intention of coming back."
It means that Tompecina once wrote he does not want to be a sysop. He twice wrote he does not want to work on the cs Wikipedia. So now I am surprised what he writes here. Detailed description I already sent to steward Datrio (including parts of mails with translation to Datrio's mother tongue). I promissed him that I can send whole mail correspondention if he ask for it.
Today morning I sent mail to Tompecina, that if he changed decision, then he himself has to write it and in that case let he himself ask stewards for sysop rights back. --Ludek 09:52, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
In my view this is meaningless. Tomáš Pecina was desysopped temporarily, there is no valid reason to be desysopped for ever. -- V. Z. 12:21, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
Most likely "Rule Tompecina": temporary measures are permanent if the offender is unpopular with the sysops. --Tompecina 13:10, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

It seems the cs.wiki is busy disciplining another user (Jvano) who happened to vote against he majority on the issue of blocking V. Z.. No, nihil habeo... --Tompecina 11:06, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I have already noticed much earlier (23 August 2005), Mr. Vaňo is often victim of the clique of lynchers. I am very sorry that no steward did any effective action. -- V. Z. 12:21, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Hello! I am User:Juzeris and I am mostly active on English Wikipedia (w:User:Juzeris) and Latvian Wikipedia (lv:User:Juzeris). I have been an admin on Latvian Wikipedia since November 2004 and have translated most of the user interface. From time to time I have been contributing also to the English Wiktionary (User:Juzeris). The community of Latvian Wikipedia is finally ready to start working on its own Latvian Wiktionary. Therefore, I kindly ask you to grant me administrator/bureaucrat status there. Thank you! --Juzeris|talk 09:28, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry for the wrong order of procedure. Now I have informed the community of Latvian Wikipedia (since there are no active users in Latvian Wiktionary to inform). If you're interested in getting the opinions of Latvian administration, the other two Latvian admins are Tail (she's a bureaucrat as well) and Feens. --Juzeris|talk 19:59, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
I see that Juzeris is sysop now, so I guess this has been handled. - Andre Engels 09:00, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes, I am a sysop in Latvian Wikipedia, but I was asking about Wiktionary. --Juzeris|talk 16:17, September 1, 2005 (UTC)
Well, the Latvian Wiktionary hasn't had any edits in some time. Please first:
  1. Make some edits to it, so we can see you're interested in this project
  2. List your request for adminship on some local page on Wiktionary, so the community users in the future will be aware you have been made a sysop in that way.
After that, you'll probably be granted sysop/bureaucrat status. Datrio 09:45, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
If you look at a broader span of recent edits, say, more than a week, you can see that I had been contributing to it even before this morning.
I have placed a separate notice on Latvian Wiktionary as well.
Is there a issue concerning the language of those notices? Is that the reson why it is taking so long? If it helps, my interest in this whole project in long-term could be seen, e.g., from my contributions to English Wikipedia.
Frankly speaking, I'm quite confused. What else should I had done to be granted adminship? Should I had become more involved in the English speaking community of Wikimedia? --Juzeris|talk 14:13, September 4, 2005 (UTC)
  • Done. Actually in the last month the only edits on lv.wiktionary are from Juzeris. I don't see any point in making him waiting any longer, and he informed the lv.wikipedia community on august 22. Seems there are no oppositions. --Snowdog 23:46, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Thank you! --Juzeris|talk 09:05, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
