WikiGap Challenge
[edit]Hi! I noticed that you took part in WikiGap Challenge last year. I just wanted to inform you that we are running the Challenge this year too, to improve the representation of women on Wikipedia! For WikiGap Challenge 2020, the first prize is to go to Geneva and visit UN Human Rights. Writing one of the bonus points articles, about women active in human rights, yields double points in the competition. I hope you join this year too! Best, Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 10:44, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Hello! Thank you for your invitation! On which campaign on the outreach dashboard can I join? I don't think we have a specific program for the editors of Wikigap Campaign in the Philippines for this year. It is a great privilege to join on this campaign.
Best, Dang Brazal (Talk) 12:28, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Brazal.dang We don't have a specific outreach dashboard for the WikiGap Challenge actually, only to add the score on the scoring page of the WikiGap Challenge! Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 19:22, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
Third place in WikiGap Challenge 2020!
[edit]
Hi Brazal.dang,
Now, we have finalized the results from the WikiGap Challenge. You can find the results here!
On behalf of Wikimedia Sverige, I want to sincerely thank you for your contribution, which together with the other participants have created a tremendous and long lasting impact for the visibility of women on Wikipedia. I also want to congratulate you for your 3rd place in the challenge! The 3rd prize is a voucher on the equivalent of 500 Swedish crowns (sek) in the Wikipedia Store. Please write an email to eric.luth@wikimedia.se, so we can coordinate around your prize!
To further show our appreciation of your efforts, we want to give you a barnstar for your participation – a praise of your efforts for a better visibility of women on Wikipedia!
We will also analyze the challenge and the way it works closely, to see how we can improve it for next year. It would be very valuable for us if you wanted to share your views on the challenge, especially when it comes to: the point system, the focus, and the adding of the list from UN Human Rights. You can send your answers to the same email as above.
I hope you found the challenge exciting, and that you want to participate next year as well!

Invitation to participate in Universal Code of Conduct survey - WikiWomen's User Group
[edit](You are receiving this message as you signed your interest to participate as part of the WikiWomen's User Group)
Hello, my name is Mervat Salman, a UCoC Facilitator, Trust and Safety team.
As you know, the WMF Board of Trustees ratified the Universal Code of Conduct early in February. That's the beginning; the policy itself cannot be used if the enforcement pathways are not defined. The implementation and enforcement of the UCoC requires the continuous cooperation to define clear definitions of enforcement pathways and processes. This needs to be done in a way that does not contradict with the internal bylaws and codes of conduct currently in place, but rather to support them and complement their deficiencies, if any.
In this phase of the process, we would like to invite you to share your ideas, thoughts and concerns about the UCoC implementation, reporting and enforcement pathways using this survey:
Notice: This survey will be conducted via a third-party service, which may subject it to additional terms. For more information on privacy and data-handling, see the survey privacy statement <https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/UCoC_Affiliates_Survey_Privacy_Statement>.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact msalman-ctr@wikimedia.org.
Best regards,
Mervat (WMF) 17:00, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.
If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so. Art+Feminism: Feb 15 online edit-a-thon campaign launch and upcoming conversations
[edit]
We have some exciting events coming up that we’d love to share with you!
At Art+Feminism, we believe that as feminist editors, our strength is in collective action. When we edit together, we share resources, knowledge, and skills; in doing so, we form a defense against harassment within the Wikiverse and beyond. Alongside our initiatives to close diversity gaps and create a safer Wikipedia, Art+Feminism remains committed to doing our part. This year that includes creating more virtual spaces for us to connect with one another, share knowledge, and edit together.
To start, join Art+Feminism and Wiki Editoras Lx on 15 February to discuss and practice strategies for collective editing. This event kicks off our series of virtual editing tables for our Year 11 campaign. You can see our full schedule here and register today.
We’ll also be hosting two special conversations: Online & On the Ground: Abortion Activism in Maryland and Collective Imagination + Radical Futures: Kansas City Organizers on Making Art & Building Power. These online events are open to all and we hope to see you there!
If you’d like to join the campaign by hosting your own A+F event but haven’t yet, it’s not too late! You can view our campaign resources here and send us an email to let us know you’re joining.

Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki
[edit]Greetings!
The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.
This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.
We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.
Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.
Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.
