Fountain (WAM Tool) Translation[edit]

Hi, I've noticed some problems in your Nepali translation:

in the Your language name in you language field you've stated that your language's name is अंग्रेजी, which translates to English. I believe the right word is नेपाली भाषा or something similar. Am I right?
in your translation there would be a window that looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/yK4syJd.png It will make it hard for users to understand which button does what. Could you please correct it? Maithili Wikimedians Mission 10[edit]

Hello,

Did you know...?
Maithili Wikimedians volunteer members has taken a challenge in itself i.e. Mission 10. The focus and aim of the challenge is to complete 10,000 articles on Maithili Wikipedia before the end of this year 2016. As of November 30, 5,555 articles were made on Maithili Wikipedia. From the 1^st of December until the 31^st of December the challenge will run on Maithili Wikipedia. The challenge is divided on 2 basic parts Online and Offline events. The online event is focused on creating articles and offline parts is about meeting with Maithili speakers from different parts of Nepal. We just finished our very first open call with the user group members, which was a great success (see the meeting minutes). I’m Erick Guan, the coordinator of WAM 2017. Welcome to Wikipedia Asian Month 2017. Here is some information about organizations of events at a national level.

Timeline[edit]

The event lasts a month for the participants. As of the beginning of the event, please:

Invite previous participants to join. We have a template you may want to use.
Setup your WAM page in your local wikiproject if you haven’t done that.
Link your WAM page at Wikipedia Asian Month 2017. It’s important for others to understand and connect to your community! Remove the X when you done that. WAM is organized at national level. So I have to ask you to put your country in front of your name if you haven’t done that.
Publish a notification about WAM in site notice as well as village pump. Go public!
Connect with us. Generally send me an email so that we can reach you for future information!
Become the jury member in a campaign on Fountain which is an amazing tool for you to supervise participants’ articles. If you don’t have the campaign set up, please contact us! And put a link to your community’s campaign page for participants’ navigation.
Organize a off-site editathon event. A coffee bar, internet and laptops. Though it’s optional. If you want to do that, please contact me.

In the following days, you should answer the questions from your community and supervise the submissions. Hope you have fun!

Wikimedia and Libraries User Group Steering Committee Election[edit]

As promised by the Wikipedia Library team at the inception of the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group, we are conducting an open-election for the steering committee with 5 to 8 positions. Hi everyone, two quick but important updates:

Timeline for nominations and voting[edit]

Nominations are extended until 12 January 2018.
Candidates will be lightly vetted by the Founding Members (excluding those who are candidates) to help form a well-functioning committee.
Vetting will happen from the 13th up to 21 January 2018.
Voting will begin on the 22nd of January and end on the 4th of February.
To be able to vote, editors must have joined the usergroup before the 21st of January.
Results will be announced on or before the 10th of February.

What's new from the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group[edit]

Hi Nirjal stha! Greetings from the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group. Yes, you heard that right! We are now officially known as the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group (previously, Wikipedia Library User Group). New group contacts are User:Merrilee and User:Sodapopinski7. The elected steering committee has been meeting twice a month ever since their election, working on the organisation and details of user group functioning. Progress is being made and we'd like to keep the members updated.

The steering committee invites you to participate in this poll to help the committee plan activities this year.

The committee decided to use the librarieslists.wikimedia.org and has started making announcements on the list. Please join the list for future announcements and for internal discussions and communications.
