WMB has a long and expressive history with GLAM-Wiki partnerships. Throughout the years, we have established more than 40 new partnerships with cultural institutions from different states in Brazil. On October 4th of 2022 we created a new GLAM-Wiki partnership with the National Institute of Mata Atlântica (INMA).[1] This institute is headquartered in Santa Teresa, Espírito Santo, and promotes research, scientific innovation, preserving collections, and disseminating knowledge related to the Mata Atlântica. The partnership was born in the context of the Wiki Loves Espírito Santo project, conducted in 2022 in collaboration with the Secretary of Culture of the State of Espírito Santo.
At the end of March, we edited more than 38 thousand items on Wikidata[2] and uploaded 10 thousand images of this GLAM to Wikimedia Commons.[3] The images and metadata were about the flora of the State of Espírito Santo, specifically from the Herbário Museu de Biologia Mello Leitão Collection.
Another massive upload this quarter was the insertion of 32 thousand identifiers for paintings, objects, and items of the Museu Paulista collection.[4] The museum, with which we have had a remarkable GLAM-Wiki partnership since 2017, reopened in September 2022 and has recently launched its new online platform using the Tainacan technology. This software allowed us to do a quick extraction of the metadata and reconcile it with the items already on Wikidata. This easy-to-do extraction will help in future reconciliation from and to both the institution and Wikimedia projects, a process known as data roundtripping.

Second quarter report (Apr-Jun)
Bimonthly GLAM newsletters to partners
In February, WMB started to reactivate most of its GLAM-Wiki partnerships. For that, WMB developed a GLAM Newsletter specific for each partner with information about the partnership, such as media views and usage of the images of the collections, to be sent every two months. Because not all of our partnerships are yet in the GLAM Wiki Dashboard, we were not able to share with the partners the accurate reports provided by the platform, so we had to create the reports ourselves. Multiple partnerships were reactivated by that and new sets of images were uploaded throughout the first and second quarter of the year.
These newsletters have been a good opportunity to understand the collections dissemination and the partnership reach. Partnerships with low usage on Wikipedia, for example, are being integrated into activities such as edit-a-thons and workshops. In the first quarter, 60 newsletters were sent[18][19]

Third quarter report (Jul-Sep)
Wiki Loves Monuments
During the month of September, WMB promoted the national phase of the photographic contest Wiki Loves Monuments. During the contest, 13,208 images were uploaded and 122 photographers participated –68 of whom made their first contribution to the Wikimedia projects during the campaign. More than 1,300 monuments were registered, with 1,008 of them being illustrated for the first time with an open license. All these monuments were recorded in Wikidata before or during the contest and are now part of the 19 thousand Brazilian monuments in Wikidata.[53]
Wiki Loves Monuments is a major initiative for our affiliate, and the project is framed as a heritage education project in the open knowledge ecosystem. In general, we have had a great number of contributions, especially in terms of uploaded images, yet the attraction of new audiences was lower than expected, despite our larger investment in communications. Nonetheless, we had an increase in 12% of the number of participants, surpassing the number of participants in the previous year for the first time since we started organizing the contest in 2019. The proportion of retained users also increased this year. One positive point we take from this year's contest is that help desk/upload workshops, in combination with photo walks and partnerships with heritage researchers and professors, is effective in attracting people and we will definitely do more events like this in the future.
The assessment of images takes place in October, and winners will be announced in November.

Fourth quarter report (Oct-Dec)
GLAM Wiki 2023
The GLAM Wiki Conference is an international gathering of cultural heritage professionals from GLAM institutions and the Wikimedia community. Wiki Movimento Brasil participated in the Steering Committee of the conference and several of its members attended the event in Montevideo from November 16 until 18.[91]
The experience of participating in the organization and its committees revealed some insights, such as the questioning of the use of auto generated content creation tools when filling scholarship forms, and the much needed diversity in scholarship committees to better understand and address the economic and cultural peculiarities of the applicants.
The event had a regional focus, with more than half of the participants being from Latin American countries, one third specifically from the Southern Cone. The theme of the meetings and presentations were mainly advocacy, funding and regional governance, with less space for definition of GLAM strategies. The main stage was dedicated to the GLAM partners presentations, which gave them a more impactful participation. There was little emphasis in the participation of the 20 WMF staff members, although nearly half the time of the conference was taken up by protocol meetings between them and the GLAM managers.
The event was a great opportunity for the Brazilian GLAM representatives to know and interact with each other and build a stronger bond as a focal community of WMB partners.
