Requests

Here you can request your account deletion and usurpation on wikis without active bureaucrats, or request the deletion of a global account if you need to be renamed or to usurp an account elsewhere. Please add new requests at the bottom!
This is a list of local pages where requests for renames can be made.
If you want to request the renaming of multiple accounts on wikis without local bureaucrats please use the format:
*{{Merging|YourName|language shortcut|project shortcut}}

I have gone through the list of foreign pages and requested usurpation on all instances that were listed - you can see the entire list at en:User:Joy/SUL.

The following entries either did not appear on the list of request pages, or have more than one listed bureaucrat at Special:Listusers, so I am bringing them up here because I think it would be entirely unreasonable to require me to hunt down not only each individual mediawiki instance but also each individual bureaucrat on those instances, send them duplicate messages, look out for race conditions, etc. If they failed to create a centralized page on their instance where requests can be posted so that all bureaucrats can see them, that should be a problem for them and/or for whoever oversees them - not us poor old users.

Update: I've gone ahead and sent messages to this effect to individual bureaucrats listed below. Argh. If they fail to get their act together within some reasonable amount of time (e.g. 3 weeks), please follow up (usurp my accounts, un-crat them, whatever). --Joy-temporary 11:32, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I've now reduced the list to only five problems with unreachable bureaucrats. Please do something about it. --Joy 11:09, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Update: And another month has passed... Please intervene in the remaining cases of obviously inactive bureuacrats. --Joy 09:56, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In general, this process has been utterly tedious and time-consuming and I feel I've done my share of due diligence already - it's time for someone to finally help me out and alleviate this colossal waste of my time that would *really* be better spent on actual editing of Wikipedia...

So then, this is the remainder from my list:

Problematic bureaucrats

  • v:beta:JoycontribslogCentralAuthusurp
    • 2 crats, no registered request page
    • crats notified: [1] [2]
    • crats listed a page, I used it
      • Request not done after over a month and a reminder. Stewardry output for beta.wikiversity indicates their two bureaucrats have last log entries there in 2010-11-17 and 2008-05-02 (!); User:Hillgentleman did recently list the request page but for some reason is not acting upon my request at all
I'd suggest that you can go ahead with the rename despite the 4 edits. ;) fr33kman 21:14, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • w:te:JoycontribslogCentralAuthusurp
    • 3 crats, no registered request page
    • crats notified: [5] [6] [7]
      • All three notified 2011-08-05, but no progress as of 2011-08-25
      • ...probably because their Special:Contributions outputs say their respective last edits were 2011-05-16; 2010-09-02; 2011-01-03
Done All local crats are inactive for several months, thus I did the rename. Regards a×pdeHello! 20:30, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History of fixes

  • b:id:JoycontribslogCentralAuthusurp
    • 2 crats, no registered request page
    • crats notified: [8] [9]
      • Both crats notified on 2011-08-05, one of them fixed my specific problem after I pinged him as he did the same on id:, said they got no b:id e-mail; no progress on the b:id noticeboard as of 2011-08-25

Thanks in advance. --Joy-temporary 10:33, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that stewards won't perform renamings or usurpations on wikis with active bureaucrats. That's tedious but that's the current policy for us. I'm doing the "0 'crat" requests for now. -- Dferg ☎ talk 12:48, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, that's fine, but you need to insist on bureaucrats maintaining their respective entries in the index of pages where renaming can be requested, otherwise they're not necessarily active bureaucrats. --Joy-temporary 15:21, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I did it.quote but I don't understand why you write «now I can't unify it because of numerous conflicting accounts on various wiki instances»: you don't mean that you technically can't, do you? Unless you have less edits than some other account (which is not your case), you should always be able to unify, leaving some local accounts unmerged. If you actually can't, then I suppose the hr sysop is blocking you, but if that's the problem (it shouldn't) I suggest you to ask a temporary desysop. --Nemo 14:05, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean that technically - I didn't even try it before this mess was sorted out. Nowadays, I might as well do it... Would there be any reason against it? --Joy-temporary 12:40, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I clicked through en:Special:MergeAccount and now it has me stuck at the "Finish merge" screen. The SUL util scripts still see no global account. --Joy 12:21, 24 August 2011 (UTC) They see it now, yay. Only 11 unattached accounts to fix. --Joy-temporary 13:00, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please unify te:User:Joy and notify hi:User talk:Joy. Regards a×pdeHello! 20:44, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic bureaucrats 2

I also stumbled upon some pretty inactive bureaucrats that have noticeboards but aren't acting upon requests:

  • English Wikiversity says it has 5 bureaucrats, but my request is idling well past the time of 14 days their template advertises; I've sent a reminder, to no avail; it looks as if they haven't done any usurpations since February. stewardry output is a bit less grim.

Please help. --Joy-temporary 12:25, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Confirming the problem at en.wikiversity. See v:WV:Changing username. We do have two or three "active" crats, defined by edit(s) or logged actions in the last three months. However, one hasn't acted as a 'crat for a long time, and one is quite unresponsive (but did just do a usurpation after being asked on his Talk page, by me, to look at the open requests, and then being asked by a user, re the most recent request. That's the only one he did. There are seven more namechange requests, all older, all easy. I'd tried to clerk the namechange page to make it easier for the 'crats, making sure the ducks were in a row. The third 'crat is more active, but is moving his residence and barely able to take care of a university course he's running (also on Wikiversity). But that gives him edits! It's a bit frustrating. Joy's request is duck soup, ready to go. Just needs a 'crat or steward. --Abd 19:18, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • v:WV:Changing username has been cleaned up, I brought in a pile of templates from enwiki so that the links were there in a uniform way, and so that there were buttons for a 'crat to push. The last 'crat to push a button was a bit touchy. --Abd 01:53, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • So we're supposed to send personal messages to individual bureaucrats there to get a usurpation done? So what is the point of a common noticeboard then, if they're not going to pay attention to it? Stewards, what is your position on this, is this behavior legitimate/reasonable? --Joy 15:06, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another strange case:

Status:    In progress

Please delete my SUL account. I'm not included in "Global User List" / "GlobalRollbacker List". I want to include my username in "Global User List" and "GlobalRollbacker List". if deleted , I remake my SUL account. --Hosiryuhosi 01:27, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please access Special:MergeAccount first and see if there's any error message. Deleting global accounts is not something we should do very often. If that doesn't work, we can try the global account deletion. Regards, -- Dferg ☎ talk 13:32, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I've reported a bug for this issue so PLEASE don't do anything until we can figure out what happens. -- Dferg ☎ talk 13:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for report. I'm not getting error message on "Special:MergeAccount". It's normal message. [25]--Hosiryuhosi 14:20, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I remember some while ago former steward Manuelt15 had the same problem. In his case he deleted his global account, recreated the global account and the lost global rights were granted by other stewards. After that, he was finally visible in the list of global accounts and (more importantly) the automatically generated list of stewards. Strange was that he had access to all the tools of the stewards et cetera, so that's not the problem. I think it's indeed a bug and maybe others have the same problem too. Trijnstel 16:55, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting the global account and recreating it might well solve the problem, yes. The reason I'm holding this is because I've reported a bug and I would be good if they can have a current example on what I described. Regards, -- Dferg ☎ talk 16:57, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can you point me to the bug? Ruslik 15:53, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
After a quick search, I think this is the bugreport. Trijnstel 16:54, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, the bug is filed, but there seems to be no progress for several months! a×pdeHello! 21:03, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

iantresman

Status:    Not done

I want to be renamed to iantresman with the following accounts // I want to usurp the following accounts

I already have a global log-in for my username "iantresman" on English Wikipedia, Commons, Simple English, Quotes, and others, but have forgotten my password for meta wiki, so I can't log-in, and can't unify my accounts. Anything I can do? Other accounts:

--Iantresman 13:27, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I don't really understand : you say that you can't access to the account "Iantresman" on meta, and you just used it to post this request [26]. Therefore, your account is attached to your SUL, so normally you should be able to use it. Aren't you speaking about mediawiki.org instead ? -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:49, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're quite correct, there's so many Wikis, I've confused myself. Yes, I can't unify my mediawiki.org account. I have lost the password, and foolishly did not add an email. I don't think I made any posts, so if the password can't be retrieved, can the account be deleted so I can start again?
Okay, all right. So as mediawiki.org is a project with local 'crats, stewards can't rename you. I would advise you to edit the page mw:Project:Requests#Requests_for_renames to request the renaming locally. Cordially, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 20:09, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice. --Iantresman 20:30, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hex

Status:    Not done

I want to be renamed to Hex with the following accounts:

I was advised to ask here by en.wp bureaucrat Xeno as this requires an SUL change. For an explanation, please read my original request for usurpation. Thank you. Earle Martin 22:13, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The global name "Hex" is currently in use by a Chinese Wikipedia user who has 112 edits. They therefore have priority over the name, so unfortunately we can't delete the SUL account for you. Sorry about that. PeterSymonds (talk) 22:18, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was aware of that, thanks. Did you read my comments on the original page about that? Earle Martin 08:45, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Matti

Status:    Not done

I want to be renamed to Matti with the following accounts.

--Matti 21:31, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All these projects have active local bureaucrats. (fi.wikibooks 1.5month inactivity) Please consult this list and make your requests on respective local pages. Regards. --Bencmq 01:08, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kamina

Status:    Done

I want to usurp the following accounts:

I'm pretty sure there are no active bureucrats on this wiki, so please let me usurp the present account (0 edits on the project). Please contact me at my discussion page. Thank you very much. --Kamina 17:37, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Is there a problem for you to take a different username ? Somebody created the user w:User:Kamina on enwiki (2005), and I don't think that english bureaucrats will accept to usurp this account that regularly contributes (anyway I think that the SUL account is reserved to him). Thanks -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:05, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've just sent forward my request of usurpation to the en.wiki bureaucrats, and I'm waiting for an answer; there is the possibility that the user is inactive (no edits since 2009, that is more than 2 years), and he only has 45 edits (29 edits in ns0 over 19 distinct pages). Of course I guess I will have to give in, as the user proves still active and unwilling to yield his account, but I still asked for usurpation in some ten other projects, so let's see how it ends. Thank you again. :) --Kamina 18:15, 13 October 2011 (UTC) P.S. I just wish to inform you that the SUL account is actually mine, as I've activated it today) :) --Kamina 18:41, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. So I put this request on hold, 'till enwiki bureaucrats will decide to usurp the account or not. Anyway, if it's not renamed, I really think that the better solution for all of you is to have separate usernames. As Xeno told me, you could also try to send a mail to this user (with some luck, he will answer that being renamed is not a problem for him). Cordially, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 20:36, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kamina requested the usurp on w:uz and holds the SUL. The w:en account is a different request that will be handeled by English crats (if ... ;-) I hope you don't mind, Quentinv57. Regards a×pdeHello! 20:55, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. --Kamina 08:24, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
