Socks of Dragonron. This page hosts requests for global (un)blocks, (un)locks and hidings.

If you are here because you have been blocked by a global block, and believe that the block is in error or you have not done anything wrong, there are a few methods through which you can appeal:

 • If the IP is not currently blocked on meta, you can post a request to this page following the instructions below to have the IP unblocked.
 • If the IP is currently blocked on meta, you can post an appeal on your talk page. For maximum effectiveness, link to the username of the steward who globally blocked the IP address using the code USERNAME so that they are pinged by it.
 • If you are editing from an account and have been caught by a global IP block that is unlikely to be removed (i.e. because it is an open proxy or because of long-term abuse), you can request an individual exemption from the block at the requests for global permissions page. Please see the section on global IP block exemptions on that page for specific instructions for making a request.
 • If none of those options work, you are free to email us at stewards@wikimedia.org.

Note: (un)blocks apply to IP addresses; and (un)locks apply to global accounts

Requests for global (un)block

<translate>

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:

Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions.
Please also review Global blocking . Only IP addresses can be globally blocked at this moment. Please see <tvar name=gl>#Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding</tvar> if your request involves an account.
Global blocks don't affect Meta-Wiki, so if your IP address is blocked, you can still appeal here. IP addresses that cause disruption on Meta should be reported at Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat instead of here so that they can be blocked locally.</translate>
<translate> Please describe the kind of cross wiki abusive activity you see from the IP. Saying an IP is a long term abuser is not helpful, but saying "IP vandalizes at ban.wikipedia, no.wikipedia and vi.wikipedia" is. This is especially important for range blocks. If you do not provide enough details, your request might be declined.</translate>
<translate> Instructions for making a request</translate>

<translate> Before requesting, make sure that:

 1. You know the IP address(es) you wish to have globally blocked or unblocked.
 2. For blocks, the global blocking criteria are met.
 3. For unblocks, your request addresses the original reason for blocking the IP, if any.

To make a request for the address(es) to be blocked or unblocked

Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain why the address(es) should be blocked/unblocked.</translate>

When requesting that your IP be unblocked, note that stewards need to know your IP address to even consider a request.
To find your IP, please visit <tvar name=whatismyip>https://www.whatismyip.com/</tvar>
You are not required to disclose your IP in public - you may make requests privately to any steward on <tvar name=IRC>IRC</tvar> or by email at: <tvar name=address>stewards@wikimedia.org</tvar></translate>

Global unblock for 107.178.195.245

Status:    IP unblock not done, account given IPBE

I cannot edit Wikipedia by direct Internet connection due to the GFW's affect, so I have to use a VPN service, but this IP address is global blocked by Vituzzu, I still cannot do my editing work. Please unblock this IP, thank you. --千里走单骑 (talk) 11:22, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi 千里走单骑: Not done the IP unblocking, but I have granted your account a global IP block exemption which should let you edit. It'll expire in 6 months, so please come back before it expires so we can renew it if there's further need. -- MarcoAurelio 13:25, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 108.61.122.195

Status:    softened block

Why have you blocked my IP address? I cannot do my editing work on Wikipedia (check out my page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:NicolasJz). I am told spamming was a reason for my block - I have never spammed in my life! I do occasionally use a VPN service (Private Internet Access) to protect my privacy online, but I turn it off each time Wikipedia asks me to. Please unblock my IP. Thank you. NicolasJz 19:28, 9 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

@NicolasJz: It is an older block. I have changed it from a hard block (complete) to a soft block, which allows users who are logged into their Wikimedia accounts to be able to edit.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:24, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 203.223.94.186

Status:    softened block, though not completely removed

Why have you blocked my ip address? Today I first bought modem and connected to my pc but in wonder i found that you blocked my ip before two days when i had never used this ip before!!! Please unblock the ip.--Sharif uddin (talk) 17:09, 29 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

It is a spammy /24 subrange. The block will be modified so that logged in accounts can edit. Ruy Pugliesi 18:30, 29 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Plz modify as soon as possible. Otherwise i can not edit on wiki pages.--Sharif uddin (talk) 20:04, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Sharif uddin: The global block has been modified, such that users need to login to edit. If you are logged in and unable to edit, then maybe you are facing a local block at the wiki in question.  — billinghurst sDrewth 07:20, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 104.131.93.125

Status:    Done

My IP address was blocked by Vituzzu, reason given as: Open proxy: + abuse from 104.131.139.20. I have not abused any wiki site from my account or from this IP. If it is easier, just unblocking my Natalyakautz account would be fine as well. Thanks. --Natalyakautz (talk) 21:36, 24 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Natalyakautz, the block is for a range of ips, meaning the vandalism was not perse from your ip. I suggest you go to en:Wikipedia:IP block exemption and ask for an ip-block exemption on the English Wikipedia. This would mean that you can edit, even though the ip is blocked. All the best, Taketa (talk) 05:51, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, thanks for responding. I am having trouble asking for an ip-block exemption on English Wikipedia. The page you linked to suggested two options: 1) copy a request template to the bottom of my talk page; 2)use the Unblock Ticket Request System. I have problems with both options: 1) I am unable to edit my talk page due to the IP block, so I cannot paste the request template; 2)when I attempt to fill out the Unblock Ticket Request System form the system says "The username you entered is not currently blocked" and won't let me submit my form (because my username isn't blocked, but my IP is). I am unsure how to proceed, could you please help? Thanks.

I've left a note at w:Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#IPBE_request. --Vituzzu (talk) 20:40, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Vituzzu, your block is now gone but I have a second IP block from another user (Elockid). However, I can now edit my talk page so I have pasted an Unblock request there. Hopefully I can get a second unblock through standard channels. Thanks again. Natalyakautz (talk) 00:24, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Natalyakautz: for the UTRS system when it is an IP block, then add the IP address, rather than your username. You can add username in the content.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:06, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 217.99.165.143

Status:    block expired

My IP address was blocked by Vituzzu, reason: „Long-term abuse: if you're caught by this block please complain at abuse@tpnet.pl” Although block will be finished today at 19 PM, this is a bit unconvinient at this moment. Can you unblock logged users or so? I've already tried Unblock Ticket System, but without success. (Said my username are not currently blocked, even after enter ip instead o nickname.) Thanks. --Pirogronian (talk) 12:53, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Pirogronian: We are having a considerable issue with a user at your ISP, and your provider seems reluctant to respond to our continued complaints. I have granted your account global block exemption, though we would appreciate it if you could contact your ISP, and request of them to properly deal with the cyberbully that has been reported to them.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:23, 3 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 87.230.27.41

Status:    soft block, edit from logged in account

Please unblock my IP 87.230.27.41. It is marked as an Open Proxy which it is not. I can provide NMAP evidence if required.

There is a range block in place, and it did contain open proxy(ies) from what I can see from the original block. I softened the block a while ago, and if you create an account at this wiki, you will be able to edit on other wikis when logged in.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:26, 3 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 46.4.31.137

Status:    split the block

This ip address is affected by a range block. Would it be possible to only soft block it's address? It used as a proxy, which can only be used by authorized persons. --BenediktWildenhain (talk) 16:41, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the notes on the block history, a five year block on the /16 is too harsh. I have split the block and left the bottom /18 out of a block, and we will see how that works.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:32, 9 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global block for 202.45.119.39

Status:    blocked for a week

Cross-wiki vandalism, removing informations randomly on multiple wikis, blocked 6 months on frwiki and itwiki, this IP is also a proxy. Thanks. --Thibaut120094 (talk) 10:44, 15 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Done Please look to communicate with the IP address. To note that it looks like an internal proxy for the Victorian Education department, so not blocking for longer.  — billinghurst sDrewth 08:29, 16 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Global block/unblock for 216.185.58.7

Status:    converted to a soft block

The block was made by Vituzzu (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given is leaky colo + open proxy at 216.185.39.135. Start of block: 11:43, 16 May 2015. I was not aware that I was using a proxy or even that I had a proxy installed on my computer. Even after reading the "No Open Proxies" wikipedia page I am still confused as to what I did wrong, or if I was possibly confused with someone else who did use a proxy. Although, after looking at the "No Open Proxies" wikipedia page I see that under the "Exceptions tab" it says "However, many users are known to access through open proxy unknowingly due to the default setting of their browser." Perhaps this could be the case in my situation but I am still unaware of any proxies on my computer and would request a full review.--EZI0SREVELATION (talk) 15:16, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

@EZI0SREVELATION: I have modified the block so that users who are logged in can edit. Thanks for the contact.  — billinghurst sDrewth 23:10, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding

Note that global blocking currently only applies to IPs, due to a technical limitation. If you wish to request a named account for global [un]locking, please request a global [un]lock here instead. Be sure to follow the instructions below:
 • Your request might be rejected if it doesn't include the necessary information.
 • Warning! This page is publicly viewable. If the account name is grossly insulting or contains personal information please contact a steward privately in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect or email your request to the stewards VRT queue at stewards-oversight@wikimedia.org (direct wiki interface) but do not post it here. Thanks.
 • Warning! This is not the place to ask for locks based on your opinion that someone is disruptive. Global locks are used exclusively against vandalism and spam, not because of content disputes, not because you think that someone deserves to be globally blocked. In such cases, you should ask for local blocks at appropriate places.
 • If you are globally locked, you should appeal your lock to stewards-appeals@wikimedia.org.

Please describe abusive activity of an account before reporting them here. Since stewards are often not active at projects the reported accounts are, things that seem obvious to you may not be equally obvious to the reviewing steward.

Instructions for making a request

Before requesting that a global account be (un)locked, please be sure that:

 1. You have evidence of cross-wiki disruption from the account(s).
 2. You can show that it is not feasible to use local-only blocks or other measures like page protection to combat the disruption.
 3. You have considered making the request in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect, especially for account names which will be hidden, or for urgent requests.
To make a request for an account to be locked or unlocked
Copy one of the codes below to the bottom of this section and explain why the account(s) should be locked/unlocked.
